Lilliput is a parthenocarpic hybrid, which, due to the size of the zelents, belongs to the class of gherkins. The cucumbers are very small and numerous. The plant is super fast - fruits can be removed as early as 6 weeks after germination. The variety was bred by the Gavrish firm. It was included in the Russian State Register in 2008.

The bush is compact, can grow indefinitely, but rarely takes advantage of this opportunity. The central shoot is gaining growth moderately. The bush branches quite actively, forms a mass of lateral determinant shoots. But it does not require shaping.

The leaves are not too large, green and dark green. The flowers are predominantly female, 3 pcs. in the node. Some nodes may have up to 10 flowers.

Zelentsy are short, up to 7-9 cm, up to 85 g, of a beautiful cylindrical shape, even. The color is green and dark green with small stripes. The tuberosity is medium, the thorns are white.

The taste is excellent, balanced, without bitterness. The skin is thin, the flesh is crispy and juicy. The variety is salad and canning. Cucumbers are versatile, they are cut into salads, pickled and salted. The variety does not lose its shape and consistency when rolled: cucumbers remain crispy and elastic.

Early variety. The crop is harvested 40 days after the first shoots appear.

The yield for a gherkin is decent - on average, up to 10.8 kg per 1 sq. m. The crop is harvested as often as possible, the fruits are cut, not cut off, so as not to damage the whip. If not harvested on time, cucumbers can outgrow - they reach 13 cm in length and “lose their shape” - they become thick. According to the observations of some gardeners, cucumbers do not grow in length, they prefer to gain mass in breadth.

Officially, the variety is recommended to grow in the European part of Russia, from northern to southern regions: North-West, North, Central, Central Black Earth, Volgo-Vyatka, Middle Volga and North Caucasus.

Plants are planted at a distance of 30 cm from each other. In row spacings - 50-70 cm each.

It is best to grow the Lilliput cucumber under film shelters. However, it grows well outdoors as well.

The variety is grown through seedlings or sown in open ground.

Sowing for seedlings is carried out depending on the desired harvest time. Standard deadline: late April - early May. Seedlings are planted in a permanent place after 1.5 months: in late May - early June. In a greenhouse or under a film, you can land 2 weeks earlier.

Sow seeds in open ground when the soil warms up well. In the recommended regions, this is the end of May - beginning of June.

It is better to sow seeds for seedlings one at a time in peat pots, or packets of juice or milk, which are not a pity to tear during transplantation.The cucumber is extremely sensitive to transplanting.

The Lilliput variety does not require any special care, loves the same thing as all cucumbers: abundant daily watering, even temperature, no cold weather, warmth and sun. However, due to the excellent vigor of lateral shoots, the variety tolerates droughts better than others. When watering is resumed, it grows fresh side lashes and begins to bear fruit again.

Ideally, he needs daily watering. Watered in the evening, with warm, settled water, in extreme heat, watering is repeated in the morning. If desired, you can add fertilizers: crushed eggshells, infusion of banana skins, nettle tops or black crackers.

Soil for cucumbers Lilliput should be light, fertile, moisture-permeable and quickly drying out. If the soil is nutritious enough, there will be no need for feeding.

Lilliput variety is resistant to powdery mildew, cladosporiosis, root rot. Resistance does not mean 100% immunity, as in immune hybrids, but such varieties are able to actively resist infection. Even if the pathogen enters the plant site and tissues, the disease will develop slowly, and the loss of crops will be insignificant.

The Lilliput variety is hardy or tolerant of downy mildew. This means that the bushes can be heavily affected by LMR, but they will still give a good harvest. If spots are found on the leaves, spraying with diluted milk whey, ash solution, "Fitosporin" is carried out. All these funds are safe, you can carry out treatments even 1 day before harvesting. But the Lilliput variety is so early that it usually does not even have time to suffer from diseases.
