Cucumber Khutorok is an ultra-early maturing bee-pollinated hybrid, which was bred specifically for cultivation in the Central European latitudes of Russia. A high-yielding crop is capable of producing a stable harvest both in regions with high humidity and in drier latitudes. An unpretentious culture can be grown not only in open beds and greenhouse shelters, but also on city loggias and balconies. Dense and fragrant fruits are suitable both for fresh consumption and for preparing winter preparations and freezing.

Description of the variety

Cucumber Khutorok F1 is the result of long-term agrotechnical work of the specialists of the Gavrish agricultural holding. The most significant contribution to breeding work was made by such workers as A.E. Portyankin, S.F. Gavrish, A.V. Shamshina and V.N.

2006 is considered to be the year of registration of the variety and its entry into wholesale and retail sale. The ultra-early maturing bee-pollinated hybrid is intended for cultivation throughout the European region of Russia, as well as in regions of risky farming. A high-yielding culture is able to form on a plot of 1m2 from 9 kg of zelents under any climatic conditions. This feature of the variety allows it to be cultivated not only on private land holdings, but also on an industrial scale.

Advantages:

  • universal purpose;
  • abundant formation of zelents;
  • lack of a bitter taste;
  • resistance to temperature fluctuations;
  • weak branching;
  • unpretentiousness;
  • long fruiting period;
  • high level of resistance to the most common diseases.

Of the shortcomings, one can note the rapid overgrowth of the fruits.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

The indeterminate medium-growing hybrid Khutorok refers to crops with a mixed flowering type. Up to 3 female flowers can develop in one node. The plant has weak branching. Most of the hardwood is medium in size. The color scheme of the leaves is dark green. A healthy and strong lash is characterized by an increased formation of a zelents' ovary.

The length of the cylindrical fruits is small and often does not exceed 12 cm. The average diameter of cucumbers is 4 cm. Depending on the biological maturity, the mass of zelents can be from 100 to 120 grams. Small tuberous leathery cover has a dense structure, dark green color and small light stripes. Cucumbers are covered with black, slightly pubescent spines.

Purpose and taste of fruits

The early ripening cucumber Khutorok has unique taste characteristics. Experienced gardeners note the absence of a bitter taste in zelents, as well as the presence of sweetish notes and a delicate cucumber aroma. Fruits with a fleshy and juicy structure can be used for making salads, cold soups, as well as winter preservation, preparation and freezing. Rich green fruits are used to decorate festive salads, snacks and other culinary masterpieces.

Maturation

The early ripening cucumber Khutorok belongs to the early pumpkin species, in which the first fruits appear within 30 days after the appearance of the first shoots.

Yield

The hybrid variety refers to high-yielding crops that are able to form a bountiful harvest in any climatic conditions. From a plot of 1 m2, you can get from 9.8 to 10.3 kg of the crop. One adult and powerful plant is capable of forming up to 4 kg of fruits.

Landing scheme

The planting scheme for a weakly branched plant depends on the growing conditions. When grown in closed greenhouse conditions, the number of bushes per 1 m2 should not exceed 2 pieces; in open beds, the number of plants per 1 m2 can be increased to 4 pieces. The standard planting pattern is 40 cm by 40 cm.

Growing and care

Despite the high yield, the hybrid is undemanding to care for. To obtain early seedlings, sowing of seed material must be carried out in the first decade of March, and planting it in the ground can be done in the third decade of May or in the first days of June. In early June, pre-prepared seeds can be sown in open beds.

The site for planting must be prepared already in the fall, having carefully dug it up and fertilized it with organic fertilizers. In the spring, you can deacidify the soil with wood ash. Before sowing seeds, it is advisable to soak them for 10-12 hours in an antiseptic solution.

To form powerful bushes, it is necessary to regularly loosen the soil, mulch the root zone, and also remove weeds in a timely manner. Do not forget about pinching the shoots after 10 leaf plates. Watering is carried out regularly, but taking into account the ambient temperature and the amount of precipitation. Timely fertilization will help to increase the yield.

Special attention should be paid to plants when growing them on the balcony. Adult lashes need not only formation, but also fixation to a vertical support. The soil in pots should not dry out and lose its fertility. In the absence of bees, pollination can be carried out independently with a soft, fleecy brush.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Disease and pest resistance

Cucumber Khutorok belongs to hybrid crops that have a high immune response to most diseases. The plant is immune to root rot, cladosporium and powdery mildew, lower level of resistance to downy mildew.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
