The cucumber variety Dirigent was developed in the mid-2000s by German breeders. In Russia, it was officially recognized already in 2011. The advantages of this variety include early ripening, good immunity and high yields.

Description of the variety

The Dirigent variety, being parthenocarpic, is able to pollinate independently, and therefore does not require the attraction of insects. It adapts well to different climatic conditions, which makes it possible to grow cucumbers throughout Russia. The conductor can be developed both outdoors and indoors, although it was originally created only for open ground. Strong immunity is one of its benefits. The variety is resistant to powdery mildew, brown spot and mosaic.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

The height of the cucumber bush of the Dirigent variety ranges from 80 to 160 centimeters. Its branching short lashes are covered with small leaves of various shades of green. They are constantly regenerating on the main stem, while the weak lateral shoots often die. The plant has female flowers and forms from 1 to 3 ovaries in one node.

Dark green greens have a cylindrical shape and a length of 10 to 15 centimeters. In diameter, such a fruit does not exceed 2.5-3 centimeters, and its weight ranges from 67 to 80 grams. The dense peel with small yellow stripes and spots is covered with small tubercles and white fluff.

Purpose and taste of fruits

Dense and juicy flesh of cucumbers Dirigent has a sweetish, pronounced taste without the slightest bitterness. It has a light green hue and is devoid of voids, which is a clear advantage of this variety. Vegetables can be eaten fresh, as well as used for harvesting. They tolerate transportation well, and also demonstrate high keeping quality.

Maturation

It is customary to classify the director as a medium early variety. The fruits reach technical maturity already 35-45 days after planting the seedlings in the ground. The fruiting process itself takes place evenly.

Yield

The director demonstrates a fairly high yield. From one square meter, the gardener will be able to collect from 4 to 7 kilograms of fruit, if initially there are 3-5 specimens on this area. If we talk about an area of ​​one hectare, then it is possible to get 476-692 centners from it.

Growing and care

Cucumbers of the Dirigent variety can be grown in seedlings or using seeds. At the same time, it is recommended to sow the material immediately into the ground only in the southern regions, and in other parts of Russia it is better to get seedlings first. In the south, planting of seeds can be carried out already from the end of April or in the first weeks of May. In any case, it is important to make sure that the soil warms up enough and the frost does not return. Seeds for seedlings are planted at the same time, but seedlings fall into open ground only by the end of May or the beginning of June. It is allowed to place them in the greenhouse a week earlier, that is, from the second half of May.

In order for the Dirigent to develop well, he needs a nutritious and light soil, for example, loam or sandy loam. This variety constantly needs illumination, since even the slightest partial shade can negatively affect the development of culture. The place must also be protected from drafts. The territory where the cucumbers will be located is prepared in advance: the earth is dug up and fed with organic matter.

If seeds are sown in the ground, then they deepen by 2.5-3 centimeters. In each well, you can leave 3 seeds, pre-soaked with growth stimulants. Plantings are watered with warm water and mulched. Growing seedlings is carried out in containers filled with soil from the site. The planting material is laid out along the grooves, covered with a thin layer of soil and watered.

The containers are tightened with foil and put away in a well-lit and heated place. The covering material is removed after 3 days, and when 2-3 full leaves appear on the seedlings, it will be possible to proceed to the next stage. Seedlings are transferred to their permanent habitat only when the ground warms up to + 16-18 degrees. In open ground on one square meter, no more than 5 copies are placed, and in a greenhouse - no more than 3 pieces.

In the future, the crop will need to be irrigated at least 2-3 times a week. If the weather is hot, then you can do it 4-5 times a week, or even every day. The first feeding is organized 2 weeks after the transfer of seedlings to the ground. Then the culture is fertilized at the beginning of flowering, and then 2 or 3 more times with an interval of 2 weeks. The conductor will respond well to organics and azophos. Mulching, loosening and getting rid of weeds should become mandatory components of crop care.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
