The hybrid variety Babushkin's secret is considered by many to be the best cucumber for growing in cold summer, which is why gardeners from the northern regions love it so much. The culture is capable of self-pollination, and also has a decent yield.

Grandma's Secret is a first generation hybrid. The culture was obtained in 2013 by domestic breeders from the Aelita agricultural company. Such well-known experts as N. Nastenko, V. Kachainik, M. Gulkin, O. Karmanova took part in the work. After variety trials in 2015, the novelty was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia. The culture is allowed for cultivation almost throughout the entire territory of the Russian Federation in personal subsidiary plots both in open beds and in closed ground under a film.

The domestic cucumber hybrid belongs to the mid-early parthenocarpic cultures. Cucumbers have a female flowering type, the ovaries are laid without pollination. This is a bright representative of bunch cucumbers: each leaf sinus forms several ovaries, 3-4 cucumbers in a bunch, or even more. The plant is a liana, grows upward, it is not limited in growth, so it must be tied up. Granny's Secret can be grown in different ways, but the crop is best suited for a greenhouse.

Variety Babushkin Secret has an indeterminate type of growth, the main stem can reach two meters in length. As already noted, fruiting, called bunch, is similar to banana bunches. The ovaries are formed mainly on the central stem.

The plant is medium-branched, with dark green heart-shaped leaves of medium size and a slightly wrinkled surface.

Zelentsy are short, average size - 9 centimeters, weight - 80-105 grams. The shape is cylindrical, the color of the skin is green, there are short stripes, there are thorns.

The pulp of the described fruits is tender, homogeneous, they taste sweet, without bitterness. Milk seeds are hardly felt when eaten. The size of the fruit makes it an excellent choice for whole fruit canning.

The described variety of domestic selection is classified as medium early, since 40-43 days pass from germination to fruiting.

Grandma's Secret is a high-yielding cucumber hybrid variety. Under a film cover, the average crop yield is 12.5-14.5 kilograms per m2.

Planting the Grandma's secret hybrid must be carried out with a step between grooves of 30 cm. 2-3 plants should be left on one running meter after thinning. The distance between them is 50 cm.

When growing the Babushkin secret by the seedling method, sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out at the end of April. Planting grown seedlings into the ground is carried out in late May - early June. In this case, the seedlings should have three to four true leaves.Seedlings are sown on open beds in grooves, to a depth of 1.5 to 2 centimeters.

In order for cucumbers to grow and develop well, you need to adhere to simple rules:

• regular irrigation of cucumbers (the minimum rate is 1 liter for each plant);
• organic feeding;
• removal of weeds;
• loosening the soil after rains and watering;
• prevention of diseases and pest attacks.

Cucumbers Babushkin's secret need highly fertile, as well as neutral, well-drained, organic soil. Watering the hybrid variety is recommended in the evening, after the sun has set. In this case, the liquid must necessarily be warm enough to avoid stress on the plant.

The variety in question has an average immunity at the genetic level. In general, it is quite well resistant to various ailments that cucumber crops suffer from. These are diseases such as cladosporia, powdery mildew, downy mildew, cucumber mosaic virus.
