One of the most demanded items on the farm is considered to be a motoblock trailer (trolley). Trailers for motor vehicles are divided into special and multifunctional. A walk-behind tractor with a trolley will successfully replace not only a mini-tractor, but also a truck. And when the rig has a dumping mechanism, then you do not need to swing a shovel, unloading gravel or sand, manure or black soil.

Varieties and distinctive features of trailers

A factory-made trolley for a walk-behind tractor can have a bearing capacity from 300 kilograms to a ton and have various body dimensions. In this case, everything depends on the operational parameters of motor vehicles. For this reason, trailer manufacturers adapt their own products for light, medium and heavy motor vehicles.

Currently, the range of motoblocks is extremely extensive, in this regard, there are enough modifications of cargo trailers for them.

The size line of the bodies of such trailers has several variations.

  • For light motor vehicles, trolleys with a body width of 1 meter and a length of 0.85-1.15 meters are mainly used. The bearing capacity of such devices does not exceed 300 kilograms.
  • For trailers designed to work with motor vehicles of normal power (4.8-8 horsepower), the size of the body structure is 1.0x1.5 meters or 1.1x1.4 meters with a bearing capacity of 300 to 500 kilograms.
  • For heavy units with a resource of more than 10 horsepower, single-axle or two-axle trailers with a body width of 1.2 meters and a length of 2 to 3 meters are used. They have the ability to move loads weighing from 500 kilograms to one ton.

The height of the sides of typical motoblock carts is 30-35 centimeters. For heavy trailers, frame-type side fences with a height of 50-60 centimeters are used.

Trolleys with a load capacity of over 350 kg are equipped with mechanical brakes... This is required by the TB instruction. When descending a steep slope, you cannot extinguish the inertia force of a loaded cart solely with the brakes of the walk-behind tractor. In this regard, when choosing a trailer for heavy motor vehicles, be sure to check the presence of this function.

A simple trailer with a dumping function for light and medium motor vehicles is not equipped with a lifting hydraulic cylinder.

The body is mounted in it so that the center of gravity of the load falls on the axles with steerable wheels. This center balancing greatly optimizes the manual tilt procedure.

To improve the comfort of loading and unloading, certain modifications of the bogies, excluding the rear one, have two side opening removable sides.

Bodies of trolleys are mainly made of zinc coated sheet, painted black metal sheet or impact resistant plastic. The first method is considered especially high quality and reliable, albeit very expensive.

Building a trailer on your own

Upon completion of the analysis of all types of carts, when creating a homemade device for motor vehicles, the most simple types are mainly used. A dump trailer, of course, is more problematic to create, but its practicality is ten times higher.

The process of implementing a do-it-yourself trailing device for motor vehicles starts with a drawing.Thanks to him, you can determine the volumes of the required material and select polysyllabic aggregates that require the creation of the clearest schemes.

Do not forget that the centering of a properly balanced bogie must be closer to the frontal board, but at the same time not protrude beyond the axle of the wheels.

Assembling the skeleton

The quality of the frame is determined by the durability and reliability that the towing device will have. This must be taken into account when developing the design documentation for the intended hitch.

So, when creating a trolley frame, the following materials should be used:

  1. profile pipe and corner;
  2. beams for the front and rear are made of 25th corner (25x25 millimeters);
  3. spars are best made from a 60x30 mm pipe;
  4. to connect all the components, it is required to put 5 auxiliary crossbeams that form the skeleton-lattice;
  5. 4 vertical positions of the rack are installed in the corners located along the pipes of this frame.

Building a complete trailer is considered a relatively straightforward process. Individual owners of summer cottages are planning to create the most complex structures.

In a similar situation, all further measures depend on the choice of a certain type of cart:

  • on a dump truck, the tailgate must be folded back;
  • when it is planned to create a trolley with folding sides, then this device must have all 3 sides, with the exception of the front one;
  • the frames of the reclining components must be made separately from the main frame, for conventional modifications they can be its single components.

We sheathe the frame

This is one of the easiest things to do when making a hitch. However, there are certain subtleties, and it is recommended to take them into account.

To carry out work on the lining of the frame, it is necessary to select such materials that they will not be able to increase the cost of the trailed structure.

  • Wood - a relatively inexpensive material, but by no means the most utilitarian due to its low resistance to moisture. In order for the boards to serve as long as possible, it is imperative to apply specialized compounds to them and constantly take care of the integrity of the coating.
  • Plastic - does not have the key imperfection of wood, but at the same time has a slight resistance to mechanical damage.
  • Steel sheets - initially they must be covered with anti-corrosive substances and are the most durable, but also fairly expensive type of material.

On a note! First of all, you need to veneer the floor of the cart, and then deal with the sides.

Making a chassis

This component of the device can be taken from an old vehicle, for example, a garden-construction wheelbarrow. An auxiliary tube is required to fix it. The hub must be crimped, and its rear segment must be grooved and fixed on the axle. And here it is extremely important to look so that a bevel does not appear.

For wheel mounting, cylindrical or tapered rods (pins) would be an acceptable solution.... They guarantee a fairly strong and long-lasting pairing. A bolt connection can be used to reinforce the structure. The final moment of the work on the creation of the undercarriage will be the installation of the hubcaps.

The manufacture of any equipment for a walk-behind tractor on our own is associated with another factor that should not be overlooked under any circumstances. It means a hitch, in other words - a hitch, a component by means of which a thorough fixation of the trailer is guaranteed.

Coupling mechanism

There are quite a few technical solutions for the hitch (from a cardan, a cross, and so on), however, the method most often used by manufacturers is a U-shaped part. Such a hitch is made of high quality steel that can withstand extreme stresses.

To create this component of the trolley, it is advisable to take a channel corresponding in thickness and dimensions.

When creating this serious component on your own, do not forget that the operational quality of the material is everything. A number of holes are drilled in a workpiece appropriate in size, through which the elements are subsequently mated by means of a fastening pin. In addition, the hitch is equipped with a holder, whose long edge must be turned up or down so that it does not interfere with the fixation of additional tools. At the same time, it should not in any case come into contact with the ground surface.

When manufacturing a coupling element, it is advisable to take the manufacturer's assembly as a prototype. Often there is a need to add original designs to the walk-behind tractor. This will require an adapter that is suitable for the bulk of the most common modifications, an individual component that is extremely demanding at the same time.

The simplest method of pairing a motorcycle with a trailer is a tube-in-tube bundle.

A small piece of pipe is fixed to one side of the pre-bent pipe in a vertical position. On the opposite side of the main component (bent pipe), another piece is cooked, and a pivot must be fixed on it, which will act as a connecting component. It is a robust, easy-to-build device with great reliability and excellent maneuverability.
