The vast majority of owners of private houses and summer cottages install a swimming pool on their territory every summer. It becomes a recreation center for all family members - both large and small. However, stationary models are expensive and not everyone can afford, but this does not mean that you need to give up your dream. Today, there is a large selection of inflatable pools on sale - they will be a good choice for those who want to have a good rest, but at the same time save their money.

What these structures are, what are their advantages and disadvantages, how to choose the right product of proper quality, will be discussed in our article.

Advantages and disadvantages

Inflatable pools are nowadays widespread among all types of outdoor pools. Such popularity is quite understandable - the design has undeniable advantages.

  • Affordable price. The purchase, installation and arrangement of such a "reservoir" is cheaper than the installation of a stationary structure.
  • Wide range of. In stores you can find a large selection of products of various sizes and shapes. Some models even provide additional functionality (jacuzzi, hydromassage, children's slides, shower).
  • Ease of installation... You can put up such a pool in 15-20 minutes, and even a teenager can cope with this work.
  • Mobility. The inflatable structure can be quickly and easily installed anywhere in the backyard, and if necessary, the pool can always be moved. At the same time, in the assembled and deflated state, it takes up very little space and weighs little, so that its transportation does not present any difficulties.
  • Ease of storage. If its owners are forced to look after a stationary pool all year round, then all that needs to be done with an inflatable one is simply to blow it off, dry it and fold it neatly.
  • An inflatable pool will be the best option for kids. The water in it heats up very quickly. Their sides are soft, and thanks to a wide variety of configurations and design options, you can find the optimal model for children of different ages and hobbies.

However, it was not without its drawbacks. Such a structure is rather difficult to fix - in order to put it, a perfectly flat surface is required.

If this requirement is neglected, then there will be depth differences in the pool, and the structure will fluctuate during use.

The service life of such models is short, they usually last no more than 2-3 seasons.

Any inflatable structure requires careful handling. Damaging them is pretty easy. - sharp branches of trees, pets, as well as rodents can violate the integrity of the model. In addition, the material is often wiped and covered with microcracks.

If you plan to purchase a huge product up to 5-6 meters long, then it will cost a lot, its cost is comparable to the frame options. Finally, inflatable pools need to be pumped up regularly.

Device

Inflatable pools are made of a three-layer PVC film, its strength is enough to withstand a lot of water and vacationers. Wherein the thicker the material, the longer you will be able to operate the pool itself. Oversized models are also reinforced with a thin mesh of polyester fibers - such reinforcement greatly increases the strength and durability of the product.

Additional reinforcement with an aluminum tubular frame is widespread: the tubes must certainly be thin-walled, they can also have different parameters.

Some structures are equipped with fountains, slides and even large playgrounds. The most modern pools allow for air bubble massage. As for design, they are matte or transparent, monochrome or stylized.

Typically, air is pumped into one ring located around the circumference of the pool. If the model is small, then there can be many of these rings, and for babies, it is better to give preference to products where air is pumped into the bottom - this will avoid injury to the child on the hard surface under the bowl.

In the overall structures, a hole is provided through which liquid can be supplied during pumping and further purified. In small models, there is no such hole, so the water in them will have to be changed quite often.

In this case, it is advisable to purchase an additional awning - it will protect the tank from insects, as well as dirty foliage and dust.

If the height of the sides is more than 1 m, then a ladder may be required - otherwise it will be difficult for children and elderly users to climb into and out of a deep pool.

Varieties

Inflatable pools can be classified according to several criteria.

By materials of manufacture

Traditionally, inflatable pools are made from the same materials from which inflatable boats are made. Most modern products are made of PVC - this polymer material is folded in 3 or more layers, due to which the product acquires increased rigidity and wear resistance.

The multi-layer provides enhanced protection - even if mechanical damage to the top layer occurs, water will still not leak.

As for children's pools, the strength requirements for them are much lower, therefore, the list of materials used is longer. In addition to PVC, manufacturers can use:

  • rubber;
  • nylon;
  • polyester.

However, a more practical material than PVC has not been created to date, all the rest are not so strong and wear-resistant.

By air filling method

Depending on the method of filling the air, completely inflatable and filling pools are distinguished. The former provides for the walls of the cavity filled with an air mass - it is they who are responsible for retaining water. Usually, such designs are typical for small pools and are complemented by an inflatable bottom.

In bulk pools, the structure is girded from above with a cavity pipe, into which air is pumped. When filling the bowl with water, the pipe rises slowly, helping to unfold the walls of the structure.

By size and shape

One of the main criteria for choosing a good pool for a summer residence is its dimensions and the dimensions of the sides.

It is their size that directly depends on who will swim in it, and how safe the water procedures will be.

Depending on this parameter, there are:

  • mini ponds - here the height of the sides does not exceed 17 cm, such models are suitable for children under 1.5 years old;
  • pool with sides up to 50 cm - such products are better known as "paddling pools", they are optimal for children 1.5-3 years old;
  • construction up to 70 cm high optimal for preschool children;
  • the height of the sides 107 cm - a great option for children under the age of 12;
  • pool above 107 cm usually used for recreation of adolescents and adults, usually equipped with a ladder.

As for the volume, a simple rule applies here - each child must have at least 1 sq. m of free space, and for an adult - at least 1.5-2 sq. m.

The larger and bulkier the bowl, the more practical it will be.

If we talk about the form, then the most popular are oval and round products - they have the property of evenly redistributing the load. Square and rectangular products are much less common on the market.

There are a lot of original models designed for toddlers and adolescents. For the youngest users, options with a volume of 45-80 m3 are offered, in which the water warms up very quickly. For older swimmers, models with a grooved bottom will be optimal - they prevent slipping.

By construction type

Models with a canopy are very popular. The awning provides effective protection not only from debris, but also from ultraviolet rays. In retail outlets, you can find products with such roofs in several versions.

  • Canopies no more than 1 m high - the most budgetary choice, but at the same time the least convenient. Ideal for tanks that are not frequently used. Such a canopy can 100% cope with its functional load, but getting into such a pool will not be easy.
  • Structures with a height of 1.5-2 m - this option, on the contrary, is convenient. Here, the door is placed on one side, and the structure is designed like a greenhouse. The frame of such pools is made of a metal profile and sheathed with polycarbonate, to reduce costs, you can also use a film - then the canopy will cost much less.
  • Awnings 3 m high - this design allows you to build a comfortable recreation area from the pool, where you can spend time not only in sunny but also in rainy weather. The pavilion is often additionally decorated with flowers, sun loungers are placed inside - this way you can create competition with traditional gazebos. These models have only one drawback - they take up a lot of space.

Many pools are additionally equipped with a waterfall, a fountain, a net for water fun, as well as many other game modules that make the rest in the water even more active and fulfilling. Pools with slides are very popular - depending on the configuration, they can be included in the set or purchased separately.

Such slides are quite durable and can withstand the weight of a human body, therefore, with proper installation, the risk of injury is reduced to zero.

Even if they break during operation, they retain their volume for some time - this will be enough to leave the deflating element.

By functionality

The modern industry offers pool models, complemented by the most unusual functions. So, on sale you can always find Jacuzzi pools with hydromassage... Such products are indispensable for complete moral and physical rest, as well as muscle relaxation and improvement of blood circulation in tissues.

Inflatable SPA-pools are systems in which the water is continuously filtered, which eliminates the need for its regular replacement.

Typically, these structures are made of composite materials, and they can support the weight of 4-5 people. Well, for those who do not like splashing in cold water, we can recommend heated products.

Manufacturers

Despite the fact that the price of an inflatable pool cannot be compared with the cost of manufacturing and equipping a stationary reservoir, nevertheless, for your price you want to buy a high quality product that will last more than one season.

There are several manufacturers of quality pools.

  • Intex - a company from the USA, which is recognized as the absolute leader in its industry. This brand offers a huge selection of pools of various sizes, volumes and shapes. All products are of exceptional design and high quality. Inflatable structures of this brand are durable and reliable. All materials have certificates of compliance with the basic requirements of environmental safety.
  • Wehncke - a German manufacturer that produces inflatable pools of various sizes. The quality of the products offered meets the most demanding quality standards.
  • Zodiac - swimming pools of the French brand. There are not so many models in the assortment list of this company, however, all of them are complemented by an impressive set of additional accessories.
  • Bestway - the largest manufacturer from China, whose products are popular all over the world. Inflatable pools of this brand are produced in a wide variety of models - from small play modules to large water complexes with slides.
  • Polygroup - the manufacturing facilities of this manufacturer are located in China and Taiwan. The main advantage of this brand's inflatable pools is their low cost.

Criterias of choice

Reliable manufacturers who value their reputation usually include in the kit not only the design itself, but also some additional equipment with accessories - their number and composition may vary depending on the size of the tank. Most often, the kit includes a pump with a filter, a small net for collecting debris and a skimmer... In addition, many manufacturers supply customers with bottom bedding, awning, and ladders.

Dimensional models must certainly be equipped with rubber wheels, which are placed on the sides of the bowl on the walls - a rope is tied to them and fixed on stakes driven into the ground.

If you do not perform these manipulations, then the entire structure may topple over, even if the bowl is completely filled with water.

And a few more tips:

  • if possible try to get a model with a ribbed bottom - it will prevent slipping;
  • look, Are the seams protruding? - seam structures are less durable than welded ones, and children can get hurt about them;
  • if you are buying a pond for children who are not easy to get out of the water - it is advisable to purchase a product with awning.

Recommendations for use

In order for the inflatable pool to last as long as possible, manufacturers recommend adhering to certain rules.

Pumping up

After purchasing the pool and removing it from the box, you need to lay it out on the litter as neatly as possible, avoiding dragging along the ground. Usually the pump is not included and must be purchased separately. The inflation of the structure must be progressive, do not pump the pool - if you inflate it too much in a cool time of the day, then during the day, under the influence of high temperatures inside the structure, air begins to expand, and the material may burst.

If a filter pump is included in the kit, then it should not be turned on without water - it is connected to special valves in accordance with the instructions.

Pumps usually include cartridges - they need to be replaced every 2 weeks.

Cleaning

When using the pool, one of the pressing problems was and remains water filtration. For this purpose, you can use different devices.

  • Nets - optimal for water purification in small pools, manual method is suitable for removing bulk pollution.
  • Water vacuum cleaner - suitable for small and large pools. Such designs can be manual or semi-automatic. Some time ago, robotic vacuum cleaners for underwater cleaning appeared on the market.
  • Filter pump - usually comes with pools of relatively large sizes. Unfortunately, such a device often does not cope with its task, and therefore users are forced to buy another, sand filter.
  • Skimmer - this device allows effective cleaning of the upper layer of water from leaves, hair, dirt particles and other large debris.

Chemicals are used to purify the water - they prevent flowering, eliminate unpleasant odors, and prevent the appearance of mucus on the walls of an artificial reservoir.

Usually this chlorine-containing preparations, efficiently coping with their task. However, after treatment, you can swim in water no earlier than two days later, otherwise skin irritation may appear. An alternative to chemistry will be perhydrol - a concentrated solution of hydrogen peroxide.

You need water in the pool filter regularlyotherwise, soon, instead of clean water, a swamp with an unpleasant smell will appear. If the pool is small, it is best to renew the water every day.

Winter cleaning

With the onset of autumn, the pool must be prepared for winter storage in the apartment. To do this, it is thoroughly washed, blown off, dried and carefully folded.

In order to make your work as easy as possible, even at the stage of choosing a pool, it is advisable to choose a model with a drain valve and a plug, it can always be connected to hoses.

If there is no such device, then you will have to pump out the water with a pump - this is too long and inconvenient.

Small tanks empty by rollover... Usually, they do not use chemicals to purify water, so the liquid after pumping out can be used to water the beds - this applies mostly to children's pools.

After all the water is drained, wipe the surface dry... This must be done with high quality, so as to completely remove water even in the folds - this will prevent the formation of mold and mildew. After that slowly release the air.

If the pool is large, it can take a long time, but you should not rush, as an excessively fast air flow can damage the PVC from which the bowl is made.

At the final stage, you need roll up the pool, gently smoothing out any creases - if you do not pay due attention to this, then during storage the fabric will become coarse, and creases will appear at the place of the bends - in the future this can significantly worsen the condition of the material. To prevent wall sticking, you can sprinkle the pool generously with talcum powder.

Storage

After all the preparatory work, the dry and packed pool is removed for storage. Cold, damp rooms are not suitable for this, the air temperature in which is kept at zero degrees - this is fraught with a deterioration in the quality of the material.

The place where you plan to store the pool should be dry, warm and dark, exclude pets and rodents from accessing the structure.

Only models made of frost-resistant materials can be stored in the yard.

Repair

You can purchase a pool repair kit at any hardware store or inflatable boat retailer. Keep in mind that superglue is not suitable for the restoration of inflatable pools - it only increases the area of the damaged area.

It is not difficult to repair the pool; in case of a puncture or rupture, you must perform the following sequence of actions:

  • find the place of damage;
  • completely drain the pool;
  • wipe the puncture site dry and, if possible, degrease;
  • apply a thin layer of glue to the prepared place, lay a patch and press firmly with any weight.

In this position, the pool is left for 10-15 hours. If you cannot visually identify the hole, you need to smear the surface with soapy water - bubbles will be noticeable at the puncture site and a thin stream of air will be felt.
