Nowadays, many homes and offices are surrounded by green lawns. If the size of the plot is not too large, it makes sense to buy not a lawn mower, but a trimmer - a gasoline or electric scythe. She will perfectly cope with trimming the grass, even with her curly haircut. But how do you choose the best option? Below you will read about the Hammer trimmers, their pros and cons, learn about the features of various models, for example, the Hammerflex, as well as familiarize yourself with the main tenets of the operating manual.

Advantages and disadvantages

Hammer trimmers can be divided into 2 types according to the type of power supply of the equipment: electric and gasoline. Electric scythes are divided into battery (autonomous) and wired. Each species has its own pros and cons.

For petrol cutters, the main advantages are:

  • high power and performance;
  • autonomy of work - independence from the power supply;
  • relatively small size;
  • simple controls.

But these devices have many drawbacks: an increased level of noise and harmful emissions, and the level of vibration is high.

    Electrocos have the following advantages:

    • environmental safety of use;
    • unpretentiousness - there is no need for special care, only proper storage;
    • compactness and low weight.

    The disadvantages include the dependence on the electric power supply network and the relatively low power (compared to gasoline counterparts).

    In battery models, an additional advantage can be distinguished - the autonomy of work, which is limited by the capacity of the batteries. A common advantage for all Hammer products is the high quality of workmanship and ergonomics. The downside is the tangible price, especially compared to inexpensive Chinese trimmers.

    Model overview

    Many different models are produced under the Hammer brand, here are considered the most popular ones. For greater clarity and convenience of comparative analysis of characteristics, the data are arranged in tables.

    As you can see from the tables, the equipment is different for the devices - not all models have a duplicate knife system added to the cutting line. So pay special attention to this when choosing.

    One more point - the maximum noise level during the operation of gasoline and electric devices practically coincides, although the electric scythe in most cases still produces less noise than the gasoline version. The mowing width also varies greatly, especially when comparing different types of devices.

    Assembly and use instructions

    Of course, when buying a device, the seller is obliged to provide you with instructions for operating the unit, but what if it is not there or if it is printed in German and you are not a translator? In this case, it is better not to try to assemble the device yourself: the order of actions during assembly is often of great importance. The best option would be to call a specialist. Recommendations for the operation and maintenance of gasoline and electric models differ due to the design features of the mechanisms. Let us first consider the main points common to both types of technology.

    An external examination of the equipment for any damage before work is required. Any external deformation, chips or cracks, odors (burnt plastic or spilled gasoline) are a good reason to refuse to use and inspect. You also need to check the reliability and correctness of the fastening of all structural parts. Before work, check the lawn for coarse and hard debris and clean it - it may fly off during operation of the device, which, in turn, is dangerous with the possibility of injury to bystanders.

    As a result, it is highly desirable to keep pets and children away from working trimmers at a distance closer than 10-15 m.

    If you have a brushcutter, you must not smoke while operating, refueling and servicing the machine. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool before refueling. Remove trim tab from refueling point before starting starter. Do not check the function of devices in closed rooms. It is recommended to use protective equipment when working with the device - glasses, headphones, masks (if the air is too dry and dusty), as well as gloves. Shoes should be durable and comfortable, with rubber soles.

    For electric trimmers, you must follow the rules for working with high-risk electrical appliances. Protect yourself from electric shock - wear rubber gloves, shoes, watch the condition of the wiring. After finishing use, do not forget to disconnect the devices from the power supply and store in a dry and cool place. Devices of this type are very traumatic, so be vigilant and careful when working.

    If you notice any warning signs - too strong vibration, strange noises in the engine, odors - turn off the trimmer immediately. If you need to change the oil, spark plugs, adjust the carburetor when the engine does not start, or other minor repairs, be sure to de-energize the devices - unplug the electric trimmer power cord, turn off the engine at the gasoline unit and fix the starter in order to prevent accidental starting.
