Working behind any automated mechanism always requires adherence to certain rules. The lathe is no exception. In this case, there are several potentially dangerous combined factors: a high electrical voltage of 380 volts, moving mechanisms and workpieces rotating at high speed, chips flying off in different directions.

Before admitting a person to this workplace, he must be familiarized with the general provisions of safety precautions. Failure to comply with the requirements may result in harm to the health and life of the employee.

General rules

Each specialist must familiarize himself with the basic safety precautions before starting work on the lathe. If the working process takes place at the enterprise, then familiarization with the briefing is assigned to the labor protection specialist or the head (foreman) of the shop. In this case, after passing the instructions, the employee must sign in a special journal. The general rules for working on a lathe of any kind are as follows.

  • Only persons who are allowed to turn may be have reached the age of majority and have passed all the required instructions.
  • The turner must be provided with personal protective equipment... PPE means: a robe or suit, glasses, boots, gloves.
  • The turner at his workplace has the right to perform only the work that was entrusted.
  • The machine must be in a completely serviceable condition.
  • The workplace must be kept clean, emergency and main exits from the premises - without obstructions.
  • Food intake should be carried out in a specially designated place.
  • It is strictly forbidden to carry out turning work in the event that if a person is under the influence of drugs that slow down the reaction rate... These include: alcoholic beverages of any strength, medications with such properties, drugs of varying severity.
  • The turner is obliged to observe the rules of personal hygiene.

These rules are considered general. Initial instruction is considered strictly mandatory for turners working on machines of any power and purpose.

Safety at the start of work

Before starting work on the lathe, it is important to check that all conditions and requirements have been met.

  • All clothing should be buttoned up. Pay special attention to the sleeves. The cuffs should fit snugly against the body.
  • Shoes must have hard soles, laces and other possible fasteners are securely fastened.
  • Glasses are transparent, no chips... They should fit the turner in size and not create any discomfort.

A number of requirements are also imposed on the room in which turning work is carried out. So, the room should have good lighting. The foreman who works at the machine should not be distracted by any external factors.

When the safety precautions have been passed, and the master's premises and overalls meet all the requirements, a test run can be performed. For this, it is necessary to carry out an initial check of the machine. It consists of several stages.

  • Checking the presence of grounding and protection on the machine itself (covers, covers, guards)... Even if one of the elements is missing, it is not safe to start work.
  • Check for the presence of special hooks designed for chip evacuation.
  • And also other devices should be available: coolant pipes and hoses, emulsion shields.
  • Indoors should a fire extinguisher present.

If everything is in order with the state of the workplace, you can make a test run of the machine. In this process, the functionality is simply checked. No details have been processed yet.

Requirements during work

If all the previous stages have passed without overlaps, or the last ones have been promptly eliminated, you can proceed directly to the work process. As already mentioned, a lathe under conditions of improper operation or insufficient control can be dangerous. That is why the work process is also accompanied by certain safety rules.

  • The master must it is imperative to check the secure fixation of the workpiece.
  • In order not to violate the working conditions, the maximum weight of the workpiece is set, which can be lifted without the presence of special equipment. For men, this weight is up to 16 kg, and for women - up to 10 kg. If the weight of the part is greater, then in this case, special lifting equipment is required.
  • The employee must monitor not only the surface to be treated, but also for lubrication, as well as for the timely removal of chips.

It is strictly forbidden to perform the following actions and manipulations when working on a lathe:

  • listen to music;
  • talk;
  • transfer some items through a lathe;
  • remove chips by hand or air flow;
  • lean on the machine or place any foreign objects on it;
  • move away from the working machine;
  • in the process of work, lubricate the mechanisms.

If you need to leave, you need to turn off the machine. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in work-related injury.

Non-standard situations

Due to the presence of some factors, non-standard situations may arise when working at the lathe. In order for the master to be able to timely and correctly respond to the threat of injury, it is necessary to become familiar with possible events. If it happens that during the turning work there is a smell of smoke, there is tension on the metal parts, vibration is felt, then the machine must be turned off immediately and the management must be reported about the occurrence of an emergency. If a fire breaks out, use a fire extinguisher. If at some point the lighting in the room has disappeared, it is important not to panic, stay in the workplace, but stop the process of processing the part. It is necessary to remain in this state until the electricity supply is restored and a safe atmosphere is restored.

Failure to follow safety instructions or exposure to external factors may result in injury.... If such a situation has occurred, the employee must report this to his superiors as soon as possible. The relevant employees provide first aid, and only then call an ambulance. At the same time, the working machine is disconnected from the power supply either by the employee (with relatively good health), or by those people who know how to do this and were there at the time of the incident.
