Today there are a very large number of very different species and varieties of conifers. Among them, the Green Tower variety of black pine stands out. This coniferous tree, like everyone else, has its own characteristics when growing and using.

Description of the variety

Pine "Green Tower" is an evergreen coniferous tree that does not grow very tall, with a maximum height of 6-7 meters. The crown of the tree is not too spreading, the maximum diameter is about 1 meter.

The spreading of the crown depends on the conditions of the tree. For a year, the growth is usually about 30 cm.

At the age of ten, the tree is considered an adult, its height at this time is usually about 3 meters.

The distinctive features of the Green Tower black pine include:

  • fast growth rate;
  • does not like shadow;
  • frost-resistant;
  • does not respond to soil composition, but prefers loose soil, drainage is desirable;
  • loves moisture;
  • resistant to harmful environmental influences;
  • cleans the air from impurities;
  • resistant to wind;
  • in the spring there is a possibility of burning needles under the rays of the sun;
  • requires periodic treatment with copper-containing preparations.

    The shape of the crown is symmetrical, the tree can be compared to a column, from the top of the tree to the bottom it has the same width.

    The color of the needles is saturated. When the plant is young, the shade is brighter, with age it becomes dark green, the length of the needles reaches 12-15 centimeters. The length of the cones does not differ from others, reaching a maximum of 10 centimeters. The shoots of this bush are densely packed, the texture is tough, they move away from the main trunk at an acute angle, go up vertically. The root has a pivotal structure.

    Growing features

    When planting this kind of coniferous tree, you need clay soil, it must have a nutrient medium and drainage. After planting, care consists in the fact that you need to constantly loosen the ground and water the plant. In the first year, the seedling needs fertilization. For the seedling to grow well, there must be enough sunlight, otherwise the tree will begin to grow asymmetrically, without clear lines.

    Pine of the Green Tower variety is unpretentious, but grows well on loose, neutral, slightly alkaline soil. If there is a lot of acid in the soil, it is necessary to add lime as a fertilizer.

    Black pine loves moisture, but not in large quantities, there should be no stagnant water. When planting in a dug hole, it is necessary to add about 20-25 centimeters of expanded clay or gravel. This variety is planted either in the spring - until May, or in the summer.

    Pine planting instructions look like this:

    • you need to dig a hole, which will be 2 times larger than a lump with the root system of the seedling itself;
    • make a drainage system;
    • fill up the soil: sod land, clay and sand;
    • as a primary fertilizer, you need to add 250-350 grams of lime, which is mixed with the soil (provided that the soil is acidic);
    • you need to add 45 grams of nitrogenous fertilizer to the soil;
    • plant a sprout so that the neck of the root is above the level of the pit;
    • fill the hole with ordinary soil and tamp;
    • lay a layer of mulch made from rotten leaves and compost.

      The Green Tower tolerates drought well, but the soil needs to be loosened from time to time. The shape of the crown of the tree must be formed, this tree lends itself well to pruning.

      If you remove excess shoots once a year, the crown will be much denser, and the growth will not be as intense. If the sun is active in early spring, you need to protect the tender needles of young pines. It is covered with spruce branches, and then removed closer to mid-April.

      Blister rust is a major problem for the owners of this tree. In order for a coniferous plant to bypass such a problem, it must be planted next to shrubs such as gooseberries or currants. They will help to avoid plant diseases. It is also necessary not to forget to maintain a moist environment in the soil of the pine, despite the fact that the tree tolerates drought well, it loves moisture.

      Application

      Many varieties of conifers are used in construction and furniture production, but this is not the case. Black pine cannot be used for the construction industry because it is fragile and brittle.

      Most often, gardeners use this variety of conifers in landscape design. Also used to decorate parks and other recreational areas.

      Such trees look good both in a single planting and in a group with different trees, including deciduous ones. Such a tree will undoubtedly become an excellent decoration for any garden, park or alley.
