Snow blowers for Neva walk-behind tractors are one of the most popular types of attachments that make walk-behind tractors an all-season universal technique. The devices are very popular in regions with a lot of snow. They are used both for domestic needs and for the performance of work by utilities.

Device and principle of operation

The modern market presents several models of snow removal equipment for the "Neva" walk-behind tractor, differing from each other in dimensions and technical parameters. But despite some functional differences, the design is almost the same. The snow blower for the Neva walk-behind tractor consists of a metal box that does not have a front wall, with a screw mechanism located inside it. On the inner surface of the side walls there are two screw shaft bearings. On the left side of the body there is a chain drive mechanism of the auger. The drive sprocket has an overhead position and is connected to the drive pulley through a shaft.

The driven sprocket is located on the auger shaft and is located at the bottom. The auger is a steel shaft with two spiral metal strips fixed on it, the direction of the turns of which is reduced to the center. In the middle of the auger there is a wide bar designed to capture snow. On the back of the box there is a hitch, by means of which the equipment is attached to the walk-behind tractor, and in the lower part of the side walls there are skis designed for easier travel in deep snow. Above the box there is a snow deflector, for the manufacture of which sheet metal is used. From above it is closed with a protective visor, which allows you to adjust the direction of the snow throw.

The principle of operation of the auger snow blower is as follows: when starting the walk-behind tractor, the torque is transmitted from the engine crankshaft to the snowplow pulley using a V-belt drive belt. The pulley, in turn, turns the drive sprocket, which, through the chain, begins to rotate the auger sprocket. As a result, the auger shaft starts to move, grabs the snow with the help of spiral belts and moves it towards the center. There the snow masses are picked up by a plate, taken out into the snow plow and thrown out of it.

Method of connecting to a walk-behind tractor

Connecting a snow blower to the unit does not cause difficulties even for those users who work with a walk-behind tractor for the first time, and takes from 15 to 20 minutes. The process of connecting snow removal equipment consists of several stages.

  • On the frame of the walk-behind tractor there is a special hook-on unit made in the form of a metal bracket. In order to secure the snow thrower, the pin located there is taken out of the bracket, the equipment is attached and fixed with two bolts.
  • The protective cover is removed from the power take-off shaft of the walk-behind tractor and, by means of a V-belt, its pulley is connected to the pulley of the snowplow. Then, using the adjusting mechanism, the belt tension is set, while controlling so that it does not slip or sag.
  • After the adjustment of the belt drive is completed, the pulley protection is put in place and the mechanism is manually turned, thus eliminating the possibility of friction between the rotating elements and the housing.
  • In the course of further operation of the snow blower, it is necessary to periodically check the belt tension and prevent it from loosening.

The lineup

All snow blowers on the market for the Neva walk-behind tractor are auger mechanisms and are compatible with the cultivators of the same brand. The most popular and demanded are four models, which will be discussed below.

MB-2

This snow plow has a traditional design and is capable of operating at speeds up to 4 km / h. The grip width of the model is 70 cm, the maximum depth of snow cover, which the unit can handle, is 20 cm. The machine is capable of throwing snow up to 8 meters away, throwing it to the left side. The equipment has dimensions of 79x73x78 cm and weighs 55 kg. The model is considered the most powerful of all presented, therefore it is often used by utilities for cleaning yards and clearing sidewalks. The device costs 17,000 rubles.

CM-0.6

Unlike the previous model, this snow thrower is equipped with a toothed auger, which allows it to partially crush snow crust and thin ice. The unit is characterized by compact dimensions and lower performance in comparison with MB-2. The width of the auger capture is 56 cm, the maximum snow height is 17 cm, the snow mass throwing range is up to 5 m. The model has dimensions of 60x60x80 cm and weighs 55 kg. Due to its small size, the device can be used in confined spaces, therefore it is used when cleaning summer cottages and small adjoining territories from snow. For cleaning large areas, as well as for use in municipal services, the unit is rather weak, therefore it is more suitable for private use. The cost of the equipment is 13-14 thousand rubles.

SMB-1 M

The rotary snow blower is equipped with a toothed auger, which allows it to cope with packed snow and ice crust. The capture width is 70 cm, the maximum depth of the snow cover is 20 cm. The device is capable of throwing snow at a distance of up to 5 m and operating at a speed of 4 km / h. The device is available in dimensions 79x73.5x78 cm and weighs 60 kg. The cost of the unit is 18,000 rubles.

SP-56

This snow thrower is the lightest model on offer, weighing only 33.3 kg. The unit is capable of operating at speeds up to 4 km / h and throwing snow at a record distance of 15 meters. The maximum allowable snow depth is 20 cm, the working width is 70 cm. The model is available in dimensions 67x51x56 cm and is the most compact of all. The cost of the equipment is 17,000 rubles.

User manual

In order for the operation of the snow blower to be convenient and safe, a number of simple rules must be followed.

  • Before starting the engine of the walk-behind tractor, you should check the condition of the main components and assemblies, stretch all the threaded connections and check the belt tension. Then you need to manually turn the auger. Only after making sure that nothing interferes with it, you can start the engine.
  • You need to start moving at a speed of no more than 2 km / h, gradually increasing it to the recommended speed.
  • In the process of work, it is necessary to adjust the direction of the canopy on the snow deflector so that the escaping snow masses do not fall into people, animals and windows.
  • A sudden jamming of the auger indicates that a large piece of ice or stone has entered the mechanism. In this case, it is necessary to muffle the walk-behind tractor and try to remove the foreign object.
  • Due to the fact that snow blowers are not equipped with headlights, it is prohibited to operate them at night.
  • When clearing large areas, it is necessary to take breaks and allow the equipment to cool down.
  • When working on inclined surfaces, you need to be extremely careful not to allow the equipment to roll and overturn.
  • The chain tension must be adjusted every 5 hours of operation. It is carried out using an adjusting bolt located on the body of the snow thrower. The amount of deflection should be no more than 10-15 mm with manual pressure.
  • When working with snow-clearing equipment, personal precautions must be taken, protection of exposed areas of the body and eyes.
  • For cleaning large areas, it is advisable to attach an adapter. This will allow the operator to work in a seated position and significantly reduce the stress on the spine.
