Fulfilling the task of the primary assistant in household affairs, the washing machine turns into an irreplaceable household appliance. Its breakdown brings a lot of discomfort. The appearance of malfunction signals in the form of a program failure during washing is mainly associated with the functioning of the drain system.

The pump can clog in the washing unit, which must be cleaned as soon as possible. Otherwise, it will be necessary to eliminate an already more fundamental problem to which it can lead.

How to remove?

If during washing the display shows the error "the pump is clogged", then in order to clean it, it is necessary to dismantle it. We carry out the following actions.

  1. Remove the top and back trim of the washing machine body using a hex screwdriver.
  2. After that it is necessary to put the machine on its side, just first fix the drum inside the washing machine... A piece of cardboard or something similar will do. Simply place it between the drum and the side panel of the cabinet so that the drum does not come into contact with the panel when you turn it over. This will insure against mechanical damage to internal elements.
  3. Now we disconnect the electric wires, turn the pump against the clock hand and remove it. There is the possibility of encountering a difficulty - on certain modifications of Bosch washing machines there is a clamp that prevents the pump from being dismantled. You don't need to take it off. Use pliers to push it away from the pump. Then remove the pump. Be prepared for a small amount of liquid spilled on you.

How to clean?

The operation of cleaning the pump consists in the fact that in the pump you will need to very thoroughly clean one component - impeller. To completely clean the impeller, it will also need to be removed.

The impeller removal process is simple: using a screwdriver, it is necessary to unscrew the screws that connect the 2 parts of the pump together. When these parts are severed, you will see a small head. This will be the impeller. During operation of the unit, this head rotates, due to which the water is drained.

Clean it from dirt, wool fibers, hair, threads and other debris and wipe the inner snail of the element. At the end of the event, assemble the pump, install it in place, and also assemble and properly secure the other removed elements. When the device is completely assembled, carry out a test wash. If the water is poured and drained in accordance with the norm, and during the operation of the device there will be no knocks and noises - therefore, you did everything right.

Don't forget about the filter. Not every time the pump itself is the cause of a water drain failure. The machine may refuse to drain the water due to a clogged drain filter.

You can clean the pump filter of the washing machine while dismantling the pump, because getting to this element, you will still remove the filter plug. Simply remove all debris and foreign objects from it immediately, and then remove the pump itself.

How and what to replace?

Replacing pumps in Bosch washing machines differs from the rotation of drain pumps in Samsung or LG washing machines only by removing it. And in particular - not through the lower part, but by dismantling the front wall.

So let's get started.

  1. First of all it is required to disconnect the unit from the electrical network, unscrew the pump filter and free the drain system from the liquid. Then we take a screwdriver, find a clamp under the hatch ring seal (an iron ring with a spring must be installed), hook it up and carefully dismantle it.
  2. After removing the clamp, we disconnect the O-ring, and so that it does not interfere, it can be pushed into the tank... Now it is necessary to dismantle the upper part by unscrewing 2 screws on the back of the case and push it back to the limit.
  3. Having wrung out the central stopper, pull out the detergent drawer.
  4. Unscrew the screws from the control panel... It is fixed from above by means of latches. We dismantle and remove it to the side (up), there is no need to disconnect the electrical wires.
  5. Under the open drain filter hatch, you will find a screw that holds the bottom trim. We turn it out and shift the plastic to the left until it clicks. Then we dismantle the panel, and 2 screws that secure the front wall become available to us.
  6. After unscrewing the screws, pull the front panel towards you and upwards, and detach it. Disconnect all electrical wires and connectors on the front panel, including the sunroof locking device. We put the front wall to the side.
  7. Now you can proceed to dismantle the drain device from the machine body. The first step is to dismantle the pipes from the snail by squeezing the clamp spring with pliers. First, the branch pipe extended from the drum is dismantled, and then the drain pipe.
  8. Disconnect the wires supplying power to the pump. Now you need to unscrew the screws holding the volute with the drain filter.
  9. We take out the pump with a snail from the body of the machine... Press down with a screwdriver on the lock and rotate the pump against the volute until it separates. On a note! Before removing the snail, mark with a marker so as not to forget the initial location of the release elements for further error-free assembly.
  10. We connect a new pump and a snail together. You can install a new drain pump in the seat by pushing it firmly and turning it in the direction of the clock hand. Remember to put the clamp back in place, reconnect the wiring, and reassemble.

Immediately, as you put the pump in place and connect all the pipes, test the connections for leaks. To do this, pour some water into the drum. If the joints are tight, you can continue assembly work. This completes the repair.

Remember! When rotating the drain pump, it is required to select an absolute analogue in terms of design and technical characteristics. All drain pumps differ both in power and productivity, and in the method of fixation. It is necessary to choose only from reliable and reputable manufacturers.
