Forming an orchard, the summer resident tries to plant more trees that are unpretentious in care, which bring abundant harvests. One of the popular pear species is the summer variety Kudesnitsa, which bears fruit in the third year after planting.

Breeding history

Pear Kudesnitsa is the result of the work of Belarusian breeders. The variety was obtained by crossing three pear species - Lagodnaya, Sapezhanka and Druzhba. The fruit tree is zoned in the Grodno region, but the geography of growth has rapidly expanded. On the territory of the Russian Federation, the pear has been included in the State Register since 2011 and is recommended for cultivation in the southern strip.

Description of the variety

The fruit crop is a vigorous tree, reaching a height of 3 to 5 meters. The pear is characterized by a wide-pyramidal crown shape, medium thickening of emerald-green foliage, strong and flexible branches. During the flowering period, the tree is covered with fragrant white flowers (flowering lasts 2 weeks in May). The fruits are formed on simple and complex ringlets, as well as on spears.

Fruit characteristics

Pear Sorcerer belongs to the class of medium-fruited. The average weight of the fruit is 160 grams. The fruit is endowed with a truncated-conical shape, greenish color with a slight blush on the sunny side. The rind of the fruit is of medium density, dryish, smooth and shiny. Transporting the fruits is poor, and their keeping quality is short - from 2 to 3 weeks. You can increase the shelf life if unwashed pears are wrapped in newspaper and wrapped in cling film, pumping out the air.

Pears have a universal purpose - they are eaten fresh, canned in slices, processed into marmalade, jam, mashed potatoes. A feature of the variety is the composition of the fruit pulp, which contains a lot of fiber, as well as vitamins E and C.

Taste qualities

The fruit has a delicious, balanced taste. Creamy fruit pulp is moderately oily, fine-grained, very juicy, tender, of medium density. The taste is dominated by sweetness, perfectly complemented by light sourness. The aroma of the pear is not very intense, but pleasant.

Ripening and fruiting

The pear tree belongs to the summer varieties. The tree begins to bear fruit in the 3rd year after planting. Fruits ripen from the end of July, but most of the ripening occurs in August. The tree bears fruit annually. The consumer period continues throughout August.

Ripening of pears begins in the second half of summer and lasts until mid-autumn. To keep the pears fresh and tasty until winter, harvesting takes into account the characteristics of the variety, the ripening time and the weather conditions in the region.

Yield

The fruit tree yields are excellent. On average, up to 40 kg of aromatic pears can be harvested from one tree during the fruiting period. On an industrial scale, the indicators are as follows: about 20 tons of fruit from trees planted per hectare.

Growing regions

It is possible to grow the Kudesnitsa pear in the European part of Russia, as well as in the southern regions of the country. In addition, the variety has gained popularity in Ukraine and is massively grown in Belarus.

Self-fertility and the need for pollinators

The tree does not really need pollinators, but different varieties of pears planted in the same area with a similar flowering period will contribute to an increase in yield.

Landing

It is better to plant a tree in autumn: September-late October (3 weeks before frost). Before planting, organic fertilizers are applied to the soil, and then the soil is well dug up. When planting, it is recommended to maintain the correct distance between seedlings - from 3 to 4 meters.

In order for the pears to be tasty and of high quality, and the yields to be consistently high, you need to responsibly approach the planting of a fruit tree. When planting a pear, you need to take into account many factors: correctly determine the timing, choose the right place, pay attention to the preparation of the planting pit.
Pear grafting is a simple and exciting procedure, but it requires accuracy and adherence to a number of rules. First of all, you need to take care of the selection and procurement of inoculation material, understand the timing and methods of vaccination. An important point is also the choice of the rootstock, on the quality of which the result of the entire event and future fruiting will directly depend.

Growing and care

This variety is not very whimsical to growing conditions. It is recommended to grow trees in the southwestern or western part of the garden plot. The site should have loose, fertile and well-drained soil without moisture stagnation, since the Kudesnitsa pear does not like excess moisture and dampness. In addition, the tree should be protected from wind and drafts.

Comprehensive care consists of a number of activities, thanks to which the tree develops and gives a bountiful harvest. Fruit crops need watering, loosening of the near-stem soil so that moisture penetrates deeply, organic and mineral fertilizing, as well as protection from insects and viruses.

Do not forget about sanitary pruning of branches (removal of excess and dry branches). Crown formation is best done in early spring or late autumn. For the winter, it is recommended to insulate the tree a little, using mulching and winding.

In order for a pear to grow correctly and give high yields, its branches must be cut off in time. Pruning can be done in both spring and fall. Depending on the age of the tree and the goals set, pruning can be: sanitary, thinning, shaping, stimulating, rejuvenating.
Feeding pears is a must-have procedure that cannot be ignored. Experienced gardeners recommend applying the first fertilizers two years after planting the tree. The process is divided into 3 main stages, which are determined by the timing of ripening, flowering and fruiting of the pear.
There are two ways to grow a pear seedling - vegetative and by seed. The first method is the most common, including propagation by cuttings, air layers, seedling buds. Seeds are grown less often, since in order to get a bountiful harvest with good taste of the fruit, the seedling will need to be grafted.

Disease and pest resistance

The sorceress has moderate resistance to diseases and pests, therefore, preventive spraying is recommended. It is forbidden to process trees during the period of fruit ripening. The most dangerous pests are gall mites, flower beetles, moths, itching and aphids, which will help to protect against spraying with insecticides and acaricides. As for diseases, the tree is sometimes exposed to scab, fruit rot, powdery mildew and sooty fungus.

Like any other fruit trees, the pear needs protection from various diseases and pests. When planting a pear on your site, you need to know in advance what diseases you should beware of. To successfully carry out the struggle, it is necessary first to correctly identify the cause of the problem. It is important to distinguish signs of disease from manifestations of the presence of insects, mites, caterpillars and other types of pests.

Resistance to soil and climatic conditions

The stress resistance of the fruit crop is average. The tree loves the sun, but is not very resistant to excessive drought and heat. In addition, the variety is winter-hardy, quickly adapts in conditions of sharp temperature changes.

Review overview

This pear variety has long won the respect and love of gardeners and farmers. This is due to the fact that the tree is not capricious in agricultural technology, consistently gives excellent yields, and quickly adapts to the soil and climatic conditions of growth.

In addition, pears have excellent taste and versatility, which undoubtedly captivates many housewives. Along with the numerous advantages, it is worth pointing out the disadvantages, among which the most significant is the short keeping quality of the fruit.
