Grapes Glory to Ukraine is a new hybrid that has managed to attract the attention of breeders and lovers of vine growing. Among its properties, one can single out versatility, the ability to grow both on the rootstock and directly in the soil, with the formation of its own root system. Also found under the erroneous name "Early Palycha" - such a hybrid really existed, but was withdrawn from testing due to the identification of certain shortcomings.

Breeding history

The variety was obtained by the well-known originator from Ukraine, Nikolai Pavlovich Vishnevetskiy, within the framework of private selection. During its breeding, a lot of work was done on interspecific crossing. The exact name of the original forms is unknown.

Description

Grapes Glory to Ukraine is distinguished by strong growth of bushes, fruitful shoots. Produces easily rooted cuttings. The vine ripens in a short time.

Ripening period

Table hybrid, very early. In the south of the Russian Federation and in Ukraine, the harvest is harvested already in the 1st decade of August. Bunches can be left on the bushes without losing their presentation, taste. Typical ripening times range from 100 to 105 days.

Bunches

The Slava Ukraine hybrid has large conical clusters, each of which reaches a weight of 1000 g. The density of the brush varies from medium to moderate. No tendency to peel. The shape of the brush is elongated, with a wing.

Berries

The bunch is formed from white berries of regular oval or ovoid shape, each weighing 10-12 g. Inside contains 2-4 seeds. Juicy fleshy pulp is hidden under the thin skin.

Taste

With pronounced nutmeg notes. Glory to Ukraine - a hybrid form with balanced flavoring properties. The taste is harmonious, without dominant sharp accents.

Yield

The high-yielding hybrid form allows you to get the result from every vine. There are 2 inflorescences for 1 shoot. Due to the significant weight of the bunch, you have to leave no more than one per vine. Standard collection rates are up to 40 kg per bush.

The choice of planting material
Experienced gardeners recommend that beginners take cuttings and seedlings from those who made them from their vines and are professionally engaged in the production of such material.
You can evaluate the quality by cutting off a small amount of bark. When growing a bush from a cuttings and observing the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 90%, the high quality of the plant is practically guaranteed. It is possible to control the development of grapes at all stages.
Subject to the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 100%. The seedlings must be healthy. Pay attention to the absence of blisters, growths, or other signs of disease.

Growing features

The hybrid form is usually grown on rootstocks. Placing seedlings directly into the ground is also allowed. In this case, the plant takes longer to gain strength. With dry roots, they are soaked in advance, the excessive growth of the root system is cut off.

Landing

Preliminary preparation includes choosing a location - well lit, without strong drafts. A complex of fertilizers is necessarily introduced into the planting pit at the rate of 3 years of cultivation. A mixture of a bucket of compost or humus, the same amount of sand, 300 g of superphosphate and a can of wood ash (preferably grape ash) is laid in fertile soil or black soil.

The substrate is laid at the bottom of the pit, compacted a little, and a 50 mm mixture of soil and sand is poured over it. After that, you can update the root cuts, place the seedling in the prepared place. Sprinkle the roots with the same sand-soil mixture. Then the plant is thoroughly watered with water. When planting in autumn, you can immediately cover the seedling for the winter.

Landing features
In order for the vine to give a signal harvest after 3 years, it is necessary to take into account many factors - from the type of soil on the site to the nearby plants.

Pollination

Cross-pollination is not necessary. The variety has bisexual flowers.

Pruning

Grapes Glory to Ukraine needs standardized pruning. It is recommended to shorten the fruiting vine by 6-8 eyes.

Pruning is one of the main grape care procedures. Depending on the purpose of pruning and the type of plant, the appropriate type of formation is selected.
Irrigation schemes
In order for the berries to be large and juicy, it is necessary to organize full watering and feeding. All standards must be adjusted for weather conditions and the rate of evaporation of the liquid.
With a frequent irrigation scheme, it is recommended to moisturize once every two weeks (that is, twice a month during flowering and the appearance of berries) so that the earth is saturated 50 cm deep so that the plant does not switch to superficial (dew) roots. This amount can be reduced by mulching the crop with straw.
With a rare irrigation scheme, having chosen the age and ripening period of the grapes, you can use the standards presented in the table in another article.

Frost resistance and the need for shelter

Withstands a drop in atmospheric temperatures down to -24 degrees. When grown outside southern latitudes, shelter is required.

Shelter for the winter is a very important step for the preservation of many grape varieties after wintering.

Diseases and pests

Resistance to the development of diseases is estimated at 3 points. Similar properties against pests are poorly understood.

Storage

It tolerates transportation well, without losing its presentation. Can remain on bushes until picking, does not crack.

Review overview

Since the hybrid form of grapes Slava Ukraine began to spread relatively recently among winegrowers, it is still difficult to talk about its final prospects. Dowsers praise her for her ability to withstand significant loads on the bush, attractive appearance and marketability. It is noted that the hybrid could be a good competitor in the market for most of the early table varieties.

The negative aspects of this new subspecies include poorly studied frost resistance and other properties. In addition, popularization has led to the fact that the hybrid form of Vishnevetsky is massively forged, passing off copies of an unknown origin for it.
