Hybrid variety "Gift to Irina" is highly valued by wine-growers. Despite the fact that this grape has a similar description with many varieties, the hybrid is not without its peculiarities.

Breeding history

The emergence of the variety was facilitated by the skillful Ukrainian breeder Vishnevetsky N.P., who has been practicing in this field for over ten years. Several varieties became the basis for the Gift to Irina: Kesha 1 + Glasha + Super-early Elegant.

Geography of distribution

The variety, originally from Ukraine, quickly gained popularity among winegrowers in the CIS countries and in Russia. Most often it is cultivated by gardeners from the southern regions, but the climate of the middle lane is also suitable for it.

Description

Medium-sized vines are distinguished by fast-growing shoots with smooth, deep green leaf blades.

Ripening period

This period is 125-130 days from the date of ovary formation. You can start harvesting from the second half of August.

Bunches

The shape of the brushes is conical, characterized by optimal density. Each weight ranges from 0.5-0.7 kg. The berries fit tightly, which prevents the bunches from falling apart and endows them with high transportability. On the vine, they persist until frost.

Berries

Large berries, weighing 18-20 g, dark pink or bright red hue. The shape is oval, visually close to the variety Ladies fingers. No cracks form on the skin of the hybrid. The fruits are not prone to peas; with each harvest they remain equally large.

Taste

Sweet berries with a harmonious taste, accentuated by a piquant sourness. The fleshy flesh is protected by a thin but dense crunchy skin that can be eaten.

Yield

A gift to Irina always gives a big harvest, due to the average size of the bush. The vine manages to fully mature even in the realities of the climate of Central Russia. The yield from one bush is 12-15 kg.

The choice of planting material
Experienced gardeners recommend that beginners take cuttings and seedlings from those who made them from their vines and are professionally engaged in the production of such material.
You can evaluate the quality by cutting off a small amount of bark. When growing a bush from a cuttings and observing the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 90%, the high quality of the plant is practically guaranteed. It is possible to control the development of grapes at all stages.
Subject to the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 100%. The seedlings must be healthy. Pay attention to the absence of blisters, growths, or other signs of disease.

Growing features

Hybrid care Irina's gift is standard, as for most grape varieties.

Landing

Grapes do not deteriorate in rainy weather and high humidity, but still prefers to grow in a dry, sunny area. To prevent the formation of mold and mildew, it is advisable to place the plant under a canopy.

The culture grows well on black soil or loam, in acidic or neutral soil. Planting is done in spring. During the summer and autumn, the bush will take root and overwinter more easily. To grow a strong plant, you need high-quality planting material. It is advisable to choose a seedling at least 50 cm in height, without traces of diseases and damage on the shoot.

Landing features
In order for the vine to give a signal harvest after 3 years, it is necessary to take into account many factors - from the type of soil on the site to the nearby plants.

Pollination

Does not need additional pollination due to bisexual flowers. This greatly simplifies the care of the crop.

Pruning

Removal of diseased, dry shoots is carried out in early spring, before the start of sap flow. The bush is formed so as to leave no more than 35 eyes on it.

Pruning is one of the main grape care procedures. Depending on the purpose of pruning and the type of plant, the appropriate type of formation is selected.

Watering

You need to water the vines at intervals of 7-10 days. In the process of watering, avoid getting water on the leaves. Irrigate plants if necessary. It all depends on the climatic conditions in the growing region. In the south, grapes are irrigated more often than in the middle lane. About 20 liters of settled pure water is consumed per bush. The soil must be mulched with sawdust or straw.

Irrigation schemes
In order for the berries to be large and juicy, it is necessary to organize full watering and feeding. All standards must be adjusted for weather conditions and the rate of evaporation of the liquid.
With a frequent watering scheme, it is recommended to moisturize once every two weeks (that is, twice a month during flowering and the appearance of berries) so that the earth is saturated 50 cm deep so that the plant does not switch to superficial (dew) roots. This amount can be reduced by mulching the crop with straw.
With a rare irrigation scheme, choosing the age and maturation of the grapes, you can use the standards presented in the table in another article.

Top dressing

Top dressing is important for the crop during the growing season. The poor composition of the soil will have a bad effect on the harvest. The grape culture itself "hints" that it needs feeding - the leaves will turn yellow and wither. Potash, phosphorus supplements and organics will help support the plant.

Frost resistance and the need for shelter

This variety is frost-resistant - it can winter calmly at -23 ° C, and when the air temperature drops below the vine, it needs additional insulation. For this, mulch and covering material are used.

Shelter for the winter is a very important step for the preservation of many grape varieties after wintering.

Diseases and pests

The hybrid has good immunity to gray mold and mildew disease. If prevention is not carried out, the plant will be difficult to cure. If it is already affected by mildew, a complete cure cannot be achieved. But the treatment will stop the spread of the disease in the vineyard, reducing the damage to the crop next year.

Variety Gift Irina often suffers from the attack of phylloxera, parasitizing in the vineyards until the crop is completely destroyed. The most effective method against aphids is timely prevention. Landings are treated with "Confidor", "Zolon" or sprayed with "Mitak", "Aktellik". You can also use folk methods.

Measures must also be taken to protect against attack by wasps and birds. You will need to put on bags on bunches and install noisy scarers.

Storage

The variety is well stored and tolerates long-term transportation.

Review overview

The transportability and preservation of the grapes is generating commercial interest in it and the desire to grow a hybrid for sale. Berries are delicious fresh, in juices and in sweet preparations such as jam.

It is not recommended to use the fruit of Irina's Gift for making wine. The drink is tasteless.
