Nina grapes are a hybrid product of amateur breeding research. A successful experiment was carried out in 1996, and since that time, the culture has consistently been at the top of various ratings, being popular among experienced gardeners. It is unpretentious and has a number of noteworthy properties.

Breeding history

The grape variety Nina is the fruit of the efforts of the amateur breeder V.N.Krainov, obtained by hybridization of the varieties Tomaysky and Luchisty raisins.

Description

Nina grapes have significant development potential, can reach a height of three meters. Shoots ripen productively, under loads of up to 40 eyes in length. The bushes of the variety are considered vigorous, the length of the whips is in the range of 15-18 m. For the formation of bushes, fan or multi-arm molding is used.

The color of young shoots is green, and over two years old it is brownish. Leaves with five lobes - 12-15 cm. Flowers are bisexual, bloom by the end of May.

The fruitfulness of the shoots varies between 60-80%, with a fruiting factor of 1.3-1.4. The degree of resistance to fungi is 3-3.5 points, and the level of resistance to mildew is 3.5. The degree of damage by wasps is medium.

Of the features, we highlight the need for significant space for the growth of bushes.

Ripening period

By maturity, this species is classified as early middle. The ripening time ranges from 118-130 days. In the southern regions, the collection begins in mid-August, in the middle lane - from the end of summer, in the northern latitudes - from the first ten days of September.

Bunches

The clusters of plants are large, conical in shape, of medium density, reaching a weight of 1 kg. No peeling.

Berries

The berries are dark red. The peel of the fruit acquires burgundy-purple hues during ripening. Fruits are oval in shape, significant in size - 28-30 mm in length and 24-26 mm in width, with an average weight of 10-12 g. The surface of individual fruits is ribbed, this is one of the features of the hybrid. The skin is quite dense, but well-eaten, covering the juicy and fleshy insides. Average acidity level of fruits is about 6-7 g / dm³.

Taste

The berries are sweet, with a slight sourness, with a harmonious aroma, and have a pronounced cherry flavor.

Yield

With a good agricultural background, the culture is high-yielding - up to 5-7 kg of fruits per bush.

The choice of planting material
Experienced gardeners recommend that beginners take cuttings and seedlings from those who made them from their vines and are professionally engaged in the production of such material.
You can evaluate the quality by cutting off a small amount of bark. When growing a bush from a cuttings and observing the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 90%, the high quality of the plant is practically guaranteed. It is possible to control the development of grapes at all stages.
Subject to the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 100%. The seedlings must be healthy. Pay attention to the absence of blisters, growths, or other signs of disease.

Growing features

The plant develops excellently on light, loamy soils, giving preference to warm, well-lit places, preferably near the walls of buildings. The culture is unpretentious, relatively winter-hardy, does not require much experience in growing. It is well mastered in summer cottages. If you do not ignore the regular treatment of bushes from oidium and pests, then the variety gives a stable harvest.

Here it is quite enough to carry out a number of typical activities - watering, mulching, circumcision of stepchildren, the use of potassium-phosphorus dressings.

Landing

The type of variety perfectly tolerates planting both in spring (April) and in autumn (end of October). For planting, a recess is dug - 80x80x80 cm. Fertile soil is placed at the bottom, compost with mineral fertilizers on top. The layers are mixed and left to shrink for a couple of weeks. The final depth of the fossa is about 50 cm.

Before the planting operation, seedlings are placed in water for a day. Then the roots are refreshed, and the seedlings are placed in the planting recess, covered with soil to the level of the root collar. A hole 10-15 cm deep is arranged next to the bush, where 16-20 liters of water are poured.

Planting pattern - 2.5 m row spacing and 1.5 m between bushes.

Frequent feeding with nitrogenous fertilizers is undesirable. It is recommended not to bring the bushes to their thickening, and to provide effective ventilation of the plantings. Do not forget about the need for fungicide treatment up to several times a season. To protect against wasp attacks, it is worth using special traps, or destroying their nests near the vineyards.

Landing features
In order for the vine to give a signal harvest after 3 years, it is necessary to take into account many factors - from the type of soil on the site to the nearby plants.

Pollination

The grape is bisexual, does not require a number of growing bushes for fertilization.

Pruning

The hybrid is pruned in the fall. It is recommended to cut the vine by 7-8 eyes. When planting in black soil, pruning is made longer. The vine is cut into 8-10 eyes, 2-4 buds remain.

Pruning is one of the main grape care procedures. Depending on the purpose of pruning and the type of plant, the appropriate type of formation is selected.
Irrigation schemes
In order for the berries to be large and juicy, it is necessary to organize full watering and feeding. All standards must be adjusted for weather conditions and the rate of evaporation of the liquid.
With a frequent watering scheme, it is recommended to moisturize once every two weeks (that is, twice a month during flowering and the appearance of berries) so that the earth is saturated 50 cm deep so that the plant does not switch to superficial (dew) roots. This amount can be reduced by mulching the crop with straw.
With a rare irrigation scheme, having chosen the age and ripening period of the grapes, you can use the standards presented in the table in another article.

Frost resistance and the need for shelter

Taking into account the average degree of frost resistance of the plant (up to –25 ° C), it is advisable to cover the bushes for the winter (even in the southern regions). With a reliable shelter, they will successfully overwinter even at -35 ° C. Warming is carried out in the traditional way: the lashes are removed from the trellises, covered with agrofibre, and dry leaves, peat or earth are poured on top with a layer of 30 cm.

Shelter for the winter is a very important step for the preservation of many grape varieties after wintering.

Diseases and pests

Often, the Nina variety infect oidium and mildew, and it is often attacked by pests. Carrying out preventive measures is extremely important. Oidium is a dangerous disease of fungal origin and it is difficult to fight it.

Rarely, but the variety can also be affected by bacterial cancer, and phylloxera became the most dangerous pest for Nina (especially in warm regions), wasps and leafworms attack less often.

Storage

The variety has excellent transportability and shelf life. Bunches last up to two weeks at normal temperatures. At low temperatures from zero to + 7 ° C, the terms increase to 2 months. During storage, it is worth regularly examining the crop, removing rotten berries.
