Muscat Grapes Pink

Muscat Pink is a grape variety that is a variety of White Muscat. Also known as Brauner Muscateller, Muscat a Petite Gran Rouge, Red Muscat, Muscat Rouge de Frontignan, Moscato Rosso di Madera, Piros Muscotay, Rother Frontignac. The main purpose of the variety is technical, for processing into juice, wine, desserts.

The origin of the variety and the date of its breeding are not known for certain. It has been mentioned in the works of Roman and Greek poets since ancient times. Some sources point to its origin in the Middle East, while others believe that it was developed and designated as an independent species in the southwestern part of Europe just a few centuries ago.

Muscat Pink is successfully cultivated in Russia, Ukraine, Italy, France, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Portugal, in those regions where the weather conditions correspond to its cultivation and maturation.

Muscat Pink is a mid-late grape variety. The leaves are large, dense, glossy on top, there is a slight pubescence on the reverse side. The bushes are medium-sized, rounded. This variety is characterized by slow growth of secondary shoots.

Muscat Pink is a medium late variety. Ripening of berries begins in early August and ends at the end of September. The berries ripen for 140 days. The sum of active temperatures from the beginning of budding to technological maturity is 2900 °.

Clusters of Muscat Pink grapes are dense, cylindrical-conical or cylindrical in shape. The weight of a ripe bunch is from 100 to 200 g.

The fruits of Muscat Rose have a rounded shape, medium size, up to 18X17 mm. Ripe berries turn dark red. They contain bones, their number can be from 2 to 4 pieces. Juicy, delicate berries of Muscat Pink have a thin skin and are covered with a waxy coating.

Grapes have a fairly high sugar content: from 170 to 240 g / dm 3, acidity 4.8–9.1 g / dm 3. The higher the temperature during the ripening period, the higher the percentage of sugar content.

When fully ripe, the berries acquire a pronounced nutmeg taste and aroma.

Muscat Pink belongs to medium-yielding varieties. Under favorable weather conditions, such as moderate humidity and temperatures in the range of 29-30 °, the yield is 60-80.3 c / ha.

Growing Muscat Pink is not easy. The variety does not tolerate heat and cold, moisture-resistant and frost-resistant, but drought resistant.It is characterized by stable fruiting. Produces well on trellises and arches.

Planting grapes can be done in 2 ways: seedlings and cuttings. When planting seedlings, a hole is dug 80X80X80 cm in size. A peg is installed in the hole, which will support the future bush. At the bottom of the hole, drainage is made from crushed stone or gravel, then a bump from the ground is poured.

A seedling is placed on its top, and the roots are gently straightened down and covered with earth. The trunk around it is covered with peat for 2-3 cm, and in the case of planting a seedling in late autumn, the thickness of the peat or humus layer should be increased to 5-10 cm. When planting, cuttings are made in rows, cuttings are planted in them at a distance of 1 to 1.5 m. Each stalk goes a little deeper into the ground and, like a seedling, is tied to a peg.

Planting of planting material in the soil is carried out from mid to late April. Autumn landing lasts from the second half of September to early October. After finishing planting, the seedlings and cuttings are watered. To reduce the evaporation of moisture, they are covered with materials at hand: plastic bottles or cans. In the first 4 years after planting, the land near the bush must be loosened to provide oxygen access to the root system.

Flowers of Muscat Rose are bisexual, and self-pollination is normal for them. Some growers, in order to increase the ovaries, do the pollination of flowers. To do this, take a dry soft sponge, with its help they collect pollen from all the bushes into a clean bowl, then mix it and transfer it to flowering brushes with a convenient brush or sponge.

Pruning of the Muscat rose vine should be done in early spring, before sap flow begins, or in late autumn, when the plant enters a state of dormancy. It is carried out very carefully, as the new vine is slowly gaining strength. This is a feature of this variety.

Four times watering a year is enough for Muscat Rosovy. It is advisable to use drip irrigation, which will provide a gradual flow of water.

The application of organic and mineral fertilizers is carried out 4 times a year simultaneously with watering. Growth stimulants can be added to the water, but in minimal doses.

Muscat Pink is frost-resistant, it is very sensitive to both spring and autumn frosts. In winter, it is able to withstand frost up to 18 °. In autumn, cover the soil under the grape bushes with dry leaves. This will keep the buds of the grapes from early blooming and will protect them from late frosts.

The variety is susceptible to fungal diseases such as mildew, oidium, phylloxera, and bunches. Good care, prevention and timely treatment will ensure a good harvest.

For better and long-term storage of grapes, the bunches must be cut along with a small piece of vine (10 cm). You need to harvest grapes in dry and better cloudy weather.
