Breeding history

The popular white grape varieties were taken as the basis for breeding Moskovsky Bely: Amur from Komsomolsk and Zhemchug saba. The grape variety was bred by breeders E.N. Gubin and K.P.Skuin in the Moscow Agricultural Academy. K. Timiryazeva.

Geography of distribution

Moscow White is grown everywhere. Especially popular with middle lane gardeners.

Description

The grape bush grows up to 1.5 meters. Pentagonal leaves of large to medium size, slightly pubescent in the lower part of the leaf.

Ripening period

Moskovsky Bely belongs to an early universal variety. The ripening period lasts about 4 months. Already in August, you can enjoy juicy fruits. They do not grow in industry, and this variety has no equal in the personal economy.

Bunches

The shape of the brush is cylindrical-conical or conical. The density is medium. The weight of the bunch is 220-330 grams.

Berries

The grape has a light green hue. As it ripens, it gradually changes to light yellow. Medium-sized round or slightly oval berries with 2-4 seeds inside. One berry weighs 3-4 grams.

Taste

Juicy sweet pulp with a slight sourness is hidden under the dense skin. This variety was highly appreciated during tasting: fresh berries - 8.0 points, juice - 8.3 points. Sugar content - 18%, acidity - only 9.0 g / l.

Yield

Moscow Bely is considered a medium-yielding one. One bush with proper care can bring up to 6 kg of harvest.

The choice of planting material
Experienced gardeners recommend that beginners take cuttings and seedlings from those who made them from their vines and are professionally engaged in the production of such material.
You can evaluate the quality by cutting off a small amount of bark. When growing a bush from a cuttings and observing the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 90%, the high quality of the plant is practically guaranteed. It is possible to control the development of grapes at all stages.
Subject to the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 100%. The seedlings must be healthy. Pay attention to the absence of blisters, growths, or other signs of disease.

Growing features

It will be easier to care for the grapes if you plant them close to the walls of the house on the south side. A good option is to plant bushes in a place protected from northern winds.

Landing

Usually, planting is carried out at the end of May. You need acidic soil, before planting, strongly acidic peat is introduced into the soil.

Moskovsky Bely prefers sandy loam soil, rocky and crushed stone are also suitable.

The planting hole should be at least 60 cm deep, and the gap between the plants should be 1.5 meters.

If the soil is heavy, it is recommended to put drainage at the bottom of the planting pit: a layer of crushed stone up to 20 cm, a layer of turf with grass.

Landing features
In order for the vine to give a signal harvest after 3 years, it is necessary to take into account many factors - from the type of soil on the site to the nearby plants.

Pollination

Moscow White has a bisexual flower. It does not need additional pollination.

Pruning

Pruning is carried out, leaving no more than 4-8 eyes. Regularly in the summer, they break off unnecessary shoots so that there is no thickening, and the leaves are cut off for better access of sunlight to the fruits.

Pruning is one of the main grape care procedures. Depending on the purpose of pruning and the type of plant, the appropriate type of formation is selected.

Watering

After planting, the seedlings are watered weekly 1 time throughout the season. In hot weather, watering is increased every other day. The next year, water is watered once every week only in dry weather. Water stagnation should not be allowed.

The soil should be moistened by half a meter. Watering alternates with top dressing. Adult plants are not watered. Constant loosening is necessary for oxygen to reach the roots. To better retain moisture, the soil around the bush is covered with mulch.

Irrigation schemes
In order for the berries to be large and juicy, it is necessary to organize full watering and feeding. All standards must be adjusted for weather conditions and the rate of evaporation of the liquid.
With a frequent watering scheme, it is recommended to moisturize once every two weeks (that is, twice a month during flowering and the appearance of berries) so that the earth is saturated 50 cm deep so that the plant does not switch to superficial (dew) roots. This amount can be reduced by mulching the crop with straw.
With a rare irrigation scheme, choosing the age and maturation of the grapes, you can use the standards presented in the table in another article.

Top dressing

In order for Moscow White to actively develop, and the bushes are strong, additional feeding is necessary:

  • with the onset of spring, fertilize with mineral fertilizers;
  • in the summer - with ammonium nitrate (you need to have time to do this before the bunches ripen);
  • as a foliar feeding, magnesium is added, which is necessary to increase resistance to diseases.

Frost resistance and the need for shelter

Moscow White is able to withstand frosts down to -30 ° C without shelter. But experienced growers still advise covering the grapes with a cloth. This will protect the plant from excessive moisture and the harmful effects of frost.

Shelter for the winter is a very important step for the preservation of many grape varieties after wintering.

Diseases and pests

The grape has an average resistance to diseases and pests. There is a danger of fungal diseases at a temperature of + 27 ° C. Therefore, preventive measures are needed, daily inspection of the bushes.

It is required to carry out timely treatment of the affected areas and soil around Moskovsky Bely with special means. Affected fruits and leaves are removed.

Storage

It is not recommended to leave ripe bunches on the bushes for a long time. For this reason, young shoots will not woody for a long time, and the first slight frost will damage them.

Review overview

Gardeners who grow Moskovsky Bely speak of a bountiful harvest. The bunches are large, the berries are tasty. Excellent frost resistance. Loves timely watering and pruning. Delicious juice and aromatic wine with a pleasant taste are obtained from the grapes of this variety.
