Helena is a grape of good taste, which is completely unpretentious during cultivation. On the territory of our country, it is widespread, popular with both professionals and amateur gardeners.

The described plant is a hybrid, but with an unknown parental pair. Kapelyushny Vasily Ulyanovich handed it over to the winegrowers from the Dnepropetrovsk region Eliseevs for testing. By agreement between them, the new plant received the name already known to us.

Breeders with extensive experience Eliseevs note that this is one of the most successful early varieties of white grapes.

Bisexual flowers form on the bushes. The grapes themselves are classified as vigorous, which means that they require regular pruning. No more than two bunches are left for the escape, this is the only way not to overload the plant.

One of Helena's advantages is the absence of cracking of the berries. Wasps are not interested in this hybrid.

All vines ripen well. The fruits are consumed fresh, wine and other products are not made from them.

Helena is one of the very early ripening varieties. From the appearance of buds on the bushes and before harvesting, it takes from 105 to 110 days.

The density of berries in bunches is average. The shape can be described as cylindrical-conical. The weight of each bunch can vary from 700 grams to a kilogram.

As for the berries themselves, they are with a stone, the color is yellow, very light. Each fruit produces up to 4 seeds.

During the ripening period, 160 g / dm³ of sugar is collected in the fruits. Gardeners are attracted by thin skin and fleshy, juicy pulp. The grapes themselves are oval, sometimes ovoid. The weight can vary from 12 to 15 grams. The fruits are large.

Amazing, nutmeg taste is another distinctive feature of Helena.

The yield of the described variety can be characterized as stable.

Helena needs to be rationed. Professionals advise not to allow fruits to ripen on shoots that are poorly developed. If the load on the bushes is calculated correctly, then the ripening period in the southern regions is reduced. When overloaded, the quality of the pulp suffers.

Vigorous rootstocks give the best yield results.

Before planting, the main thing is to properly organize the pit. It is not only worth putting organic fertilizers into it, but also organizing high-quality drainage.

Pollination is not necessary as bisexual flowers form on the plant.

As for pruning, the fruit vines are left medium in length or long. This is 6-10 eyes for each.

Like any other grape, Helena should be fed. For the entire growing season, mineral fertilizers are applied twice. The first time, when the process of bud swelling begins, the second - before the blooming of flowers.

Helena's frost resistance is -23 degrees. This means that it is better to make a small shelter for the grapes for the winter. The most dangerous are spring frosts.

The resistance to diseases and pests of the variety is average. You can't do without preventive treatment. It is worth spending it in early spring. The best solution is fungicides, which prevent the appearance of anthracnose, mildew and other diseases.

A good solution is the use of copper sulfate and slaked lime for spraying.

Grapes are not stored for a long time, therefore they are not subject to long-term transportation. This is a good option for the table, where the bunches can become the main decoration.
