Furor is the most appropriate name for this extraordinary grape variety. The berries are strikingly large in size, rich in nutmeg flavor and juicy firm flesh. And this is not the whole list of the advantages of this hybrid variety, because it has absorbed the best qualities of donor plants.

Breeding history

The Furor variety is considered relatively young, as it has been cultivated since the beginning of the 21st century. Grape lovers owe the emergence of the Furor hybrid to the efforts of the Rostov breeder Vasily Ulyanovich Kapelyushny. The hybrid form of grapes was obtained by him as a result of pollination of the Laura variety (also known as Flora) with the mixed pollen of several of the best varieties. In turn, the vigorous Flora grapes were bred from donors of the eastern group and are distinguished by large, sweet berries and resistance to fungal infections. After the first fruiting, the author noted the extraordinary qualities of the novelty, but it took some more time to get material from the grape seedling suitable for reproduction.

Geography of distribution

The southern regions have optimal conditions for the growth of the Furor variety. Although in the middle lane, he managed to get accustomed well. They also adapted to grow it in colder regions located to the north. But there it bears fruit only on condition of shelter for the winter. The variety is successfully cultivated in the Mediterranean, Central Asia and Russia.

Description

The table grape, called Furor, has the largest fruits in comparison with all analogues. It reproduces successfully both by cuttings and stepchildren, without problems it is grafted onto any stock.

Ripening period

In terms of ripening, these grapes are classified as early varieties. The growing season is 105-110 days. Harvesting falls at the end of July - beginning of August.

Bunches

The shape of the brush is cylindrical-conical. The weight of an individual bunch reaches one and a half kilograms.

Berries

The grapes of this variety are characterized by berries that are comparable in size to a small plum. Each weighs about 25-30 g. The shape of the thin-skinned fruits is slightly elongated, there is a light waxy coating on the surface. Skin color is dark purple, almost black. The flesh of the berry with a characteristic nutmeg aroma is dense, juicy, with a couple of seeds inside.

Taste

Berries with a full, rich taste, with pronounced sweetness without sourness. The finish tastes like nutmeg-fruity. Sugar content - 21-23%, with acidity in the range of 5-6 g / l.

Yield

Differs in high yield, which is considered rather a disadvantage of Furora. There are many more bunches on the bush than it can withstand. In one season, on average, 30-40 kg of grapes are obtained from 1 bush. According to the standard, two brushes are formed on one shoot.

The choice of planting material
Experienced gardeners recommend that beginners take cuttings and seedlings from those who made them from their vines and are professionally engaged in the production of such material.
You can evaluate the quality by cutting off a small amount of bark. When growing a bush from a cuttings and observing the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 90%, the high quality of the plant is practically guaranteed. It is possible to control the development of grapes at all stages.
Subject to the rules of agricultural technology, survival rate is about 100%. The seedlings must be healthy. Pay attention to the absence of blisters, growths, or other signs of disease.

Growing features

The hybrid is attractive not only for its outstanding size, but also for its unpretentiousness. The grapes do not require special care, they are resistant to diseases, and tolerates wintering well. In general, when cultivating this variety, it is necessary to adhere to the standard agrotechnical conditions applicable to grapes.

Landing

Hybrid grapes Furor is preferably planted on slightly acidic soils. Before planting grapes in the Northwest regions, dolomite flour is introduced into the soil. This is a necessary step to enrich the growing area with magnesium and prevent it from alkalizing. It is introduced into acidic clay-type soil annually. It is optimal to do this in the autumn. For one square. m plantings need about 0.5 kg of dolomite flour.

A sunny, wind-free place is suitable for planting grapes. In different regions, Furor is planted in peculiar ways. When planting tall bushes in a row, a step of 3-4 m is required.

Landing features
In order for the vine to give a signal harvest after 3 years, it is necessary to take into account many factors - from the type of soil on the site to the nearby plants.

Pollination

A number of sources indicate the presence of bisexual flowers in Furor grapes. But amateur gardeners who grow this variety tend to believe that the type of its flowers is functional female.

Pruning

A tall hybrid should be pruned annually. It is advisable to carry out this procedure in the fall, before placing the grapes under cover. From 6 to 8 buds are left on one vine. In general, there are about 40 of them on the bush. Pruning vines contributes to a confidently generous harvest. And it is also important to make its rationing, otherwise breakage of the vine and shrinking of the bunches from the abundance of large berries are likely.

Pruning is one of the main grape care procedures. Depending on the purpose of pruning and the type of plant, the appropriate type of formation is selected.

Watering

Excess watering is harmful to grapes of this variety. Often, watering is necessary only after planting, and an adult vine needs water only as the soil dries out. Watering is stopped during ripening to avoid cracking the fruit. In autumn, after a sultry and dry summer, the vine is prepared for wintering by saturating the roots with moisture.

Irrigation schemes
In order for the berries to be large and juicy, it is necessary to organize full watering and feeding. All standards must be adjusted for weather conditions and the rate of evaporation of the liquid.
With a frequent watering scheme, it is recommended to moisturize once every two weeks (that is, twice a month during flowering and the appearance of berries) so that the earth is saturated 50 cm deep so that the plant does not switch to superficial (dew) roots. This amount can be reduced by mulching the crop with straw.
With a rare irrigation scheme, choosing the age and maturation of the grapes, you can use the standards presented in the table in another article.

Top dressing

With the arrival of spring, grapes need nitrogen, and during flowering and after harvesting, they need fertilizing with potassium and phosphorus. Organic fertilizers, manure and ash can be used. If it is not possible to use them, mineral fertilizers are suitable: superphosphate, carbonate and potassium sulfate. Fertilizers are applied in the amount prescribed in the recommendations, according to the instructions.

Frost resistance and the need for shelter

Furora bushes withstand a drop in temperature to -25 C, which is very indicative for a table variety. Without shelter, grapes overwinter in the southern regions and in the weather realities of the climate in the middle zone. In the central strip, it is allowed to leave uncovered three-year-old bushes. In other cases, the vine must be protected from frost. In areas north of frost, even an adult vine is sheltered.

Shelter for the winter is a very important step for the preservation of many grape varieties after wintering.

Diseases and pests

The Furor variety is resistant to viruses and fungal diseases. In rare cases, it is affected by mildew, powdery mildew and gray mold. But in order to guarantee the protection of the bushes from diseases, it is recommended to resort to preventive treatments.

The greatest danger should be expected from wasps and birds that are greedy for sweet fruits.

Storage

After the berries are ripe, the harvest must be harvested in two weeks. During this period, the crop will remain in its marketable form and will not turn sour. Ripe bunches are stored in the dark and cool, in a place with good ventilation for up to 2-3 months.

Review overview

Like most hybrid forms, the Furor variety has absorbed the selective qualities of the breeding material. People like its taste and aroma, which means that it fully meets their requirements. The shell of the berries is thin and hardly felt when eaten. This sweet variety is high in glucose and therefore not suitable for those diagnosed with diabetes.

The variety thrives in various climatic conditions.

Berries in clusters are perfectly preserved during long-distance transportation, without actually losing their commercial characteristics.

From waterlogging, the fruits begin to crack. Wasps flock to the smell of sugar pulp, so sometimes certain problems arise with these insects.
