Early Pineapple Grape

People have been growing grapes since biblical times; today it has become popular among other cultivated plants. Berries are valued not only for their taste, but also for their antioxidant content. The early Pineapple variety is especially popular among winegrowers.

The variety was bred in Ukraine, its author was the breeder A. Kondratsky. It appeared by crossing the Pearl Saba and Pineapple varieties. When breeders worked to develop this variety, they wanted grapes that would have an unusual taste, as well as disease resistance and good winter hardiness. The aroma of pineapple is unrivaled among other varieties.

The cultivation of this culture is widespread. It is very well cultivated in the southern regions, in the northern regions it needs more attentive agricultural care.

Early Pineapple is one of the earliest grape varieties. The flower type is bisexual. In bad weather conditions, peas may occur and yield decreases. The vine grows very well, it grows 6 meters in a year. The leaf is small, medium in size, five-pointed in shape. The edges of the leaf are heavily indented, jagged. Has no edge on the back.

As the name suggests, it is one of the earliest grape varieties. The ripening period for berries ranges from 115 to 120 days. The berries begin to ripen in August.

The bunch has a beautiful conical shape. It is loose, so the berries do not put pressure on each other. The weight of the bunch ranges from 180 to 250 g. The length of the brush reaches 25 cm.

The berries of early Pineapple grapes are round, less often oval. Milky green color. The weight of one berry reaches 4-5 g and grows up to 16 mm in diameter. The skin of the berry is thin, but does not burst with prolonged hanging on the bush. Contains many substances that promote good food absorption and digestion. Berry seeds have the same properties. The seeds contain many vitamins and antioxidants, which have a good effect on the body's metabolism and prolong youth. Transportability is good, since the berries do not deteriorate for a long time and retain their presentation. Berries are consumed both fresh and canned, a universal variety.

The berry's taste is unusual - sweet, with a hint of pineapple, and a pronounced pineapple aroma. The pulp is slightly slimy. Sugar indicators depend on the region in which the grapes are grown, on average 220 g / dm3. Acidity - 8 g / l. In terms of taste, tasting qualities gains 8 points.

The yield of the Early Pineapple variety is very good, up to 50 kg of ripe berries are harvested from one bush.

To get a good harvest, you need to follow some rules. Bushes should be spaced at least 1 meter apart. In the northern regions, it is better to cover the grapes for the winter. It is necessary to fertilize several times a year.

Good planting material is chosen for planting. To begin with, dig a hole at least 80 cm deep, 60 cm wide. A layer of crushed stone or broken brick is poured onto the bottom of the hole. Then fertile soil is immersed, which is mixed with mineral or organic fertilizers. After planting, the young bush is watered abundantly and a layer of straw or grass is laid. This keeps the ground moist.

As mentioned earlier, grapes have bisexual flowers. Pollination of this variety occurs with the help of insects, as well as with the help of its own pollen. The pollination process lasts up to 8 days.

The grapevine of this variety is usually cut off in the fall, it is also possible in the spring. The vine is cut into 6 buds, it is possible for 5 eyes. It is advisable to leave no more than 50 eyes on one bush.

Grapes prefer moderate watering, for a good harvest it is enough to water once a week, drip irrigation is recommended.

Early pineapple is well resistant to frost, it can withstand frosts down to –30 ° С. She does not need shelter, but growers claim that if you cover a bush, it will give more harvest.

This variety has good disease resistance, so it does not need frequent chemical treatments. It is not afraid of fungal diseases, therefore it is especially fond of winegrowers. For the prevention of pest damage, grapes need to be processed once in the spring.

The berries retain their presentation for several days, therefore they are well transportable. Best stored in a cool place.
