Brass profiles are a modern material with many advantageous characteristics. This allows it to be used for various finishing works. The scope of application of such products is not limited to repairs - a wide range of brass profiles makes it possible to create various frames, including stylish stained-glass structures.

Peculiarities

The characteristic features of brass products can be called its advantages. This is a versatile material that is much more resistant than copper to various negative environmental influences, including heavy loads due to high traffic (when it comes to flooring).

At the same time, one should not forget about the decorative function - it is used to ennoble the appearance of walls, floors, stair steps, furniture.

The secret of the demand for such products, of course, is associated with the properties of the material itself.

  • In its composition, brass contains zinc and copper, which makes it high-strength and durable. That is why brass profiles are not susceptible to rust, significant temperature changes, moreover, they look aesthetically pleasing due to their yellowish metallic sheen.
  • Docking products fully fulfill their task, protecting the joints, again due to the flexibility of the alloy, but are also able to protect ceramic tiles from chips and moisture directly during operation.
  • Due to the plasticity of brass blanks, they are applicable for a combination of different-level surfaces, if necessary, they perfectly combine both flat and curved planes.

The brass profile is usually created from work-hardened copper alloy sheets of increased hardness, as well as from semi-hard and soft products, but the product can also be produced from a double alloy.

Some types of profiles are made from many components and additives that improve the characteristics of brass - alloyed impurities increase its strength and wear resistance.

Types and classification

The release of profiled brass products provides for different methods of manufacturing and processing, and in addition, various technologies, such as pressing, broaching, and the use of extrusion equipment. This allows you to get elements with different shapes, sections and decorative design.

As a result, all profiles are divided into several main categories:

  • products in which the outer layer is metallic, that is, it is devoid of any additional design;
  • surface-treated products with a particularly attractive appearance, which is why their cost is much higher;
  • profiles with a chrome-plated top layer, which adds wear resistance and resistance to various types of negative impacts to the product;
  • parts with bronze or gold plating (decorative option).

Despite the fact that, as a rule, in the production of standard products, brass of the LS59-1 class is used, the shape and purpose of these products is varied. There are many types of profiles from this alloy, made in accordance with regulatory standards (GOST 15527):

  • docking T-profile, flexible and plastic for concealing seams when laying laminate, tiles and MDF panels;
  • dividing U-shaped to create an expansion joint on the floor;
  • P-shaped profile to separate different types of flooring in the same plane, for example, for the purpose of zoning a room;
  • L-shaped profile - it connects floor coverings inside and outside, it is considered universal;
  • brass insert - a product that smooths out the transitions between finishing materials with different textures;
  • decorative version of the brass profile has a rounded shape and is used to seal and decorate corners, stair steps;
  • outdoor corner for ceramic tiles, as well as materials used for finishing streets, sidewalks - such a profile protects the outer corners of various structures;
  • end brass product for the construction of stairs with anti-slip surface;
  • internal brass layout for interior installation finishes.

Using a special tile layout, tiles can be laid even without trimming and adjusting. And this is also a valuable quality of such parts.

Specialized brass profiles are corners (inner and outer). These details have a polished surface, beautiful color, usually stylized in bronze and gold. Sizes - 10x10 mm, 20x20 mm, 25x25 mm and 30x30 mm. They can be attached to the corners of walls and floors, stair steps; for this, liquid nails are used.

The assortment of products for the manufacture of stained glass elements and mosaics from colored glass differs in a wide variety, but unlike models for walls and floors, they are distinguished by increased strength, providing for holding structures with a large weight. but for curved glass fragments, more plastic and softer parts are used.

Where is it applied?

Each of the alloys used to create brass profiles has a different purpose.

  • Lead brass (LS58-2). It is mainly used for the production of wire, metal strips, sheets, rods, in other words, for workpieces.
  • LS59-1 - multicomponent composition, including zinc, copper, lead and additional impurities. Automatic brass is suitable for the manufacture of fasteners, plumbing components, pipes, aircraft and ship parts, and designer jewelry.
  • For the floor, laminate, for soft wall panels, double brass is most often used - L63, inexpensive in cost and possessing high parameters of mechanical strength. These types of material can be polished, soldered, welded, used for decoration of furniture facades, for stained-glass windows, as well as for framing MDF ends.

Brass profiles are in demand not only in shipbuilding and mechanical engineering, for the production of furniture and repairs - original trays and beautiful dishes are made from these products. Of course, for this, they use safe alloys that are not capable of harming human health.

Special profile products made of brass are intended for facing work - for installing tiles. This is necessary to simplify the masonry process, protect the side fragments and corners from damage, hide errors at large elevation differences.

In addition, in this way, the joints are securely fixed, and the main goal of the designer is achieved - the stylish decoration of the room.

For walls, this material, available and easy to install, is used in the form of overlays, corners, you can decorate wall surfaces with brass panels. Besides, the decor of walls, doors, stairs, furniture (tables, cabinets, chairs and armchairs) with brass elements looks beautiful.

As a decorative and facing material, brass products are relevant for sealing tiles, in creating mosaics, stained-glass windows, and are applicable for design in footwear and furniture production. Associated with this is the pre-treatment of the profiles by nickel plating and auxiliary chrome plating.

Brass profile products, especially decorative pieces, corners and skirting boards, help to create an elegant design, but at the same time, this product avoids quick wear when it comes to wall and floor coverings.

It is not hard to understand that brass profiles of different types are in constant demand in various industrial sectors, and this is due to the versatility of this material. Decorative production, renovation or construction - the exceptional properties and parameters of brass products are in demand in a wide range of tasks.

But, of course, the main purpose of such blanks is finishing, which fully corresponds to their technical and operational characteristics.
