Some of the gardeners prefer exotic peppers with an original shape. And for those who value the quantity, Tamara hybrid pepper is suitable. It is a classic sweet variety with typical cone-shaped fruits that are very easy to set and do not fall off.

Description of the variety

Pepper Tamara (Tammara) - a hybrid of the first generation. It is a Dutch variety bred by Monsanto Holland B. V. It was included in the Russian State Register in 2009. The variety is very productive, plastic, easily accepts the flaws of care - the gardener will not be left without a crop.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

The plant is of medium height, 70–90 cm, semi-spreading. The leaves are large, dark green, folded. The fruits are looking down.

Fruits are narrow, long cones, 11–13 cm long, weighing 56–104 g. This is an average size for a sweet pepper. With high agricultural technology, fruits of 200 g are obtained.

The skin color at the stage of biological ripeness is dark red, saturated, with an intense varnish sheen. At the stage of technical ripeness, the skin color is bright light green. Small to medium wall thickness: 4.0–4.8 mm. Occasionally it can reach 7–8 mm.

Purpose and taste

The taste is very good, the walls of Tamara pepper are juicy, with a bright fragrant aroma. The variety is versatile according to its purpose: it is well suited for preparing any dishes from salads to soups. Goes to freeze. The narrow conical shape allows the whole fruit to be rolled into jars.

Ripening terms

The variety is mid-ripening, according to some reports, early, fruits in technical ripeness are removed 90–95 days after germination. Roughly begin to ripen in July - August.

Yield

The yield is high: 101–447 kg / ha. The potential of the variety - almost 450 c / ha - exceeds the capabilities of the standard varieties. The output of marketable products is up to 93%.

Growing regions

Officially, the variety is recommended to be grown in the Lower Volga region. But subject to agricultural technology, there are no restrictions.

Landing scheme

They keep 40-50 cm between the plants, 70-80 cm between the rows.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and caring

The Tamara variety does not differ from other peppers: it loves the sun, heat, watering and feeding. Pepper wall thickness is often dependent on the quality of care. The more heat and light, the more juicy the fruits will be.

Seeds for seedlings are sown in February in disinfected soil. Seeds will germinate faster if they are previously kept in an ash solution, melt water (6-8 hours) or in aloe juice. The emerged plants are placed in a warm place, 1-2 times sprayed with "Fitosporin". Transplant to open ground - in early June.

Peppers, in contrast to a close relative of tomato, are difficult to transfer, so it is better to carry out transshipment. It is even more convenient to grow pepper seedlings in disposable dishes or peat pots. Only the pots should be of high quality: inexpensive options are dubbed and, even with abundant watering, do not decompose over the whole summer.

Sprinkle the peppers. The water should be soft and warm. As soon as the plants bloom, they are sprayed with boric acid several times. This will further increase yields. As soon as the fruits begin to set, the plants are watered at the root.

Several dressings are needed per season. The favorite feeding of peppers is diluted bird droppings. For 1 part of the litter, 10 parts of water are needed, the mixture is infused in a warm place for 2 weeks. Before watering, the resulting liquid is diluted with clean water 10 times more. 1 plant will require 0.5 liters.

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although pepper has a tree-like stem structure, it still needs additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agricultural techniques that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

Soil requirements

Peppers require loose, nutritious, neutral soil. PH - 6.0-7.0. The best soil is loose loam. Claying is carried out on sandy soils and an increased amount of humus is introduced: at least 2 buckets per 1 sq. m. Sandy soils are too poor and dry out faster, peppers can grind. Too dense soils are also not suitable - peppers come from tropical regions, where there are a lot of rapidly decomposing plant residues, soils are breathable, dry out very quickly and immediately fill with moisture again.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.

Review overview

Tamara pepper is a good exaggeration. "I collected 2 bags of peppers from a couple of bushes" - such legends go about the variety among gardeners. The variety is really very productive, but the amount of fruits harvested will depend primarily on agricultural technology.

Many emphasize the aromatic taste of the fruit. The farmers who constantly use it indicate that when poultry droppings are used as fertilizer, the yield increases dramatically. In some reviews, the fertility of pepper - and on a compact bush, 6-8 large fruits really ripen at the same time - is attributed to genetic modification (GMO seeds).

The fact that the Tamara variety was created using GMO technologies is a myth. GMO seeds are officially called lines, and they are separately registered in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia. By November 2017, 27 GM lines were registered in the Russian Federation, sweet peppers are not among them. The properties of Tamara pepper are explained by the fact that it is a successful hybrid of the first generation. The hybrids are generally more productive and hardier than the varieties. And successful hybrids are doubly so.
