Stanley pepper is a large-fruited variety that gardeners like for its strong immunity and resistance to various external influences. It is worth considering in more detail the main characteristics of the variety, as well as the scheme of its cultivation.

Description of the variety

Stanley is a hybrid bred from different fruiting varieties and has absorbed their best properties. Specifications:

  • bushes - closed, compact;

  • leaves are large, dark green;

  • the stems are powerful.

The pepper is suitable for growing both in the open field and in the greenhouse.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

The maximum height of the Stanley bush reaches 100 cm.On small stems, large fruits are formed with the following characteristics:

  • weight - up to 130 g;

  • length - from 15 to 17 cm;

  • shape - cuboid;

  • the skin is dense, thick, red in color closer to ripening.

Stanley peppers are suitable for long distance transportation.

Purpose and taste

Peppers have a sweet taste with a slight sourness. The fruits are used for fresh consumption, as well as for the preparation of various salads, sauces and pastes. Peppers are also suitable for freezing and preservation.

Ripening terms

Stanley pepper belongs to a group of plants with an early ripening period. The first fruits are formed after 110-117 days from the moment the seedlings are planted in the ground.

Yield

The yield of Stanley pepper reaches an average of 2.3 kg per square meter of the garden. If desired, the indicator can be increased by observing agrotechnical recommendations.

Landing scheme

The hybrid is grown by planting seedlings in the ground. Seeds are pre-prepared.

  1. Selection. A glass of warm water will help in this, where you need to place the seeds. Empty seeds float to the surface over time. Whole samples will remain at the bottom that can be used for planting.

  2. Disinfection. Here they resort to using a solution of potassium permanganate of low concentration. You can also ignite the peppers at a low temperature.

  3. Treatment. It is carried out by using drugs that stimulate growth, through which it is possible to accelerate the sprouting of pepper and improve its survival rate.

Seed planting is carried out in separate pots, inside which there is a fertile mixture of peat, sand and other components. Planting work is carried out around mid-February or early March. The planting depth of seeds should not exceed 2 cm.

After planting, the soil is thoroughly watered using settled water, and then covered with transparent material and placed in a warm, sunny place. After almost 65 days, the seedlings are transferred to the ground. 2 weeks before planting, you should start hardening the sprouts. Landing scheme:

  1. between the rows you need to maintain a distance of 60 cm;

  2. between the seedlings, you should retreat up to 40 cm;

  3. the planting depth of seedlings should not be more than 7 cm.

It is convenient to plant peat pots right away along with the seedlings, so that there is no risk of damage to the roots or other elements of the plant.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and care

Almost all gardeners strive to grow crops of high yields. Therefore, it is not surprising that getting a lot of fruits becomes a dream. The desired performance can be achieved by observing a number of growing and care conditions.

  1. Watering. The first week Stanley pepper does not need watering, the plant only takes root in new conditions. Further, watering is carried out 1-2 times a week using warm water. During flowering and drought periods, the volume of water supplied to the ground is increased. If the rainy season comes, it is shortened. In the case of growing peppers in a greenhouse, the frequency of watering remains the same, regardless of weather conditions.

  2. Top dressing. On average, the procedure is carried out no more than 4 times per season. Particular attention is paid to the growing season, flowering and fruiting. The first fertilizers are applied already 2 weeks after planting the seedlings. Basically, preference is given to organic or mineral complexes.

  3. Loosening and weeding. Mandatory procedures that will help accelerate the growth of pepper, as well as achieve high yields from the bush.

And also gardeners recommend pruning plants, since the removal of dry and infected plant elements is necessary. This approach will reduce the risk of the death of the bush and accelerate the growth of the fruit, since the bush will direct the nutrients directly to the fruit.

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although pepper has a tree-like stem structure, it still needs additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agricultural techniques that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Required climatic conditions

It is recommended to plant seedlings in the last days of May, when the risk of frost return will be practically zero. The air should warm up to a temperature of 15-17 degrees Celsius, and the soil - up to 8. These are optimal conditions for the rapid establishment of plants.

Before planting, it is recommended to thoroughly fertilize the land into which you plan to move the seedlings. Additionally, it is worth loosening the soil in order to saturate it with oxygen and useful components.

Disease and pest resistance

Stanley is a fairly strong and healthy pepper that is not affected by diseases and pests. But this does not mean that under poor growing conditions, the plant cannot get sick. Gardeners advise regularly treating the bush as a preventive measure with special compounds:

  • "Etisso";

  • "Confidor";

  • Aktara.

Spraying plant elements will reduce the risk of developing diseases.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
