The culture was bred by Russian breeders Lukyanenko A.N., Dubinina I.N. and Dubinin S.V. The variety was approved for use in 2015. Produced by the domestic company "SeDeK".

Description of the variety

New Year's Octopus pepper belongs to the category of sweet varieties. It has the characteristics of an ornamental plant. It can be grown both in greenhouses and outdoors. Due to its small size, the culture grows well on the balcony and even in the room.

Among the positive aspects, the most often noted are early ripeness, an interesting appearance of the fruits, as well as their taste. Bushes are immune to a number of diseases and insect attacks. The variety has high yield rates.

Of the minuses, it can be pointed out that the culture cannot be grown from its own seeds, since it is a hybrid. It is imperative to tie up the trunk and form the crown. And also pepper does not feel well in a too shaded place, it loses its yield and its appearance.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

The bush is vigorous. The height is from 300 to 500 cm, which justifies its second name - Pepper-tree. Due to this feature, if there is some kind of surface next to the stem, then the culture will begin to curl around it, like a decorative liana. The crown of the seedlings is semi-spreading. Leaves are formed a little, they are medium in size. They are ovoid in shape with a point towards the nose. The surface is green, wrinkled.

On one bush, from 300 to 500 fruits are formed. The position of the fruit on the bush is drooping.

Peppers ripen small, their length is only 9 cm. There are also smaller fruits. In shape, they resemble bells, therefore, they belong to the category of bell-shaped. The average weight is 20-25 g. During the period of technical maturity, the fruits are light green, and at the time of full ripening, they are red. The surface is uniform, low gloss. 3-4 chambers are formed inside, the seeds are medium and small, white or pale yellow. The wall thickness is 3-4 mm.

The mixed soil is calcined in the oven, or it can be spilled with a solution of potassium permanganate or boiling water. After that, let the earth cool down and place in containers.

Sowing is mainly done in late February - early March. The seed is deepened into the ground by 1-1.5 cm. After that, everything is spilled with water and covered with foil. The temperature inside the container must be maintained at + 25 ° С. The film is removed after the seedlings have sprung up.

A pick should be carried out when the plant has 2-4 leaves.

Before transplanting into open ground, the plants are taken outside for acclimatization.

The depth of the hole should be 15-20 cm. A mixture of superphosphate and wood ash is poured onto the bottom.
