When choosing a pepper variety for planting, it is recommended to pay attention to the speed of adaptation to growing conditions, as well as to the dependence of the crop on weather anomalies. One of the unpretentious varieties, the yield of which does not depend on the changes and vagaries of the weather, is the early ripe sweet pepper Slastena.

Breeding history

Pepper Slastena is a bright representative of the domestic selection, created at the FNTS of Vegetable Growing in 2007. The authors of the vegetable crop are a group of breeders headed by V.F.Pivovarov. It was entered in the State Register of Peppers approved for use in 2008. You can grow a vegetable in a garden ridge, under a film shelter, in greenhouses and hotbeds. The culture is adapted to different climatic conditions, therefore it is grown in all regions of Russia.

Description of the variety

The early Slastena variety is a medium-sized plant of the standard type, stretching up to 50 cm in height. The bushes are characterized by medium spreading of branches, a developed central stem, moderate thickening with emerald-green leaves, a strong root system and a mixed type of flowering.

A distinctive feature of the plant is the unusual arrangement of fruits - the peppers ripen quite close to each other, arranged in different ways - drooping, "nose" up. On a healthy pepper bush, a large number of fruits can be tied and ripened - from 10 to 20.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

The variety belongs to large-fruited varieties. On average, vegetables ripen on the bushes weighing from 90 to 110 grams and 11-13 cm long. The fruits grow neat and aligned, which is important when growing the variety for commercial purposes. The shape of the pepper is correct - conical. An unripe vegetable is yellowish, while a ripe one acquires a uniform bright red color. The peel of the fruit is dense (the wall is 6 mm thick), smooth and glossy, without pronounced ribbing and other irregularities. The structure of the pepper consists of 2-3 chambers with a small number of seeds.

The harvested crop is transported without loss over long distances, and also has good keeping quality, while retaining useful, marketable and taste properties.

Purpose and taste

The fruit tastes great. The pale scarlet flesh has a fleshy, moderately firm, slightly crunchy and juicy structure without wateriness. The taste is dominated by sweetness and sugariness, harmoniously combined with a bright peppery aroma with hints of astringency.

Ripe peppers have a wide range of uses in cooking - the vegetable is eaten fresh, salads are prepared, baked, added to hot dishes, pickled, stuffed, frozen, canned, and also processed into dressings and sauces.

Ripening terms

Vegetable culture represents the early ripening class. The growing season lasts a little more than 3 months - 100-110 days. Germination and ripening of fruits amicable. You can taste the pepper in the second half of July. The mass yield of the crop falls on the end of July-beginning of August, however, ripening fruits can be harvested before the onset of the first cold snaps - even in September.

Yield

The yield of the variety is excellent, moreover, absolutely the same in greenhouses and on garden ridges. On average, 4.5 kg of fleshy vegetables can be harvested from 1 m2 of plantings.

Landing scheme

For plants, planting density is important, as well as respecting the distance between plantings, which provides air, light and heat to each bush. No more than 4-5 pepper bushes can be placed per 1 m2. Planting of pepper bushes is carried out according to the scheme 40x60 cm.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and care

The culture is grown mainly through seedlings, which provides earlier and more abundant yields. The bushes are planted in the greenhouse in mid-May. A vegetable should be planted in open ground after complete stabilization of the temperature regime and warming up of the soil. As a rule, planting takes place in the first week of June. Bushes at the age of 55-60 days are suitable as seedlings. Planting sweet peppers near cucumber bushes is not recommended. The best predecessors and neighbors are legumes, onions, carrots and garlic.

Agrotechnics of the plant consists of: irrigation with settled water (preferably a drip system), applying dressings every 20 days, with alternating organic and mineral complexes, loosening and weeding the soil, which increases moisture / air permeability, forming a bush in 1-2 stems, garters to pegs, pinching the top, when the bush grows in height by 25-30 cm, prevention of diseases, as well as airing (if the pepper grows in a greenhouse).

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although pepper has a tree-like stem structure, it still needs additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agricultural techniques that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

Soil requirements

Pepper grows comfortably in light, fertile, moist, breathable, and non-acidic soils.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Required climatic conditions

Pepper Slastena is a stress-resistant culture, therefore it is not at all afraid of sudden temperature changes, short drought and heat.

Disease and pest resistance

Due to the immunity, the culture resists a number of diseases - fusarium, verticillosis, tobacco mosaic virus.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
