Fans of large fleshy pepper varieties will certainly like the Siberian format sweet pepper, which quickly adapts to growing conditions and does not require complex agricultural technology. It is easy to grow this variety if you familiarize yourself with the peculiarities of the vegetable crop and the rules of care.

Breeding history

The Siberian format is a relatively new vegetable crop developed by Russian scientists. The authorship belongs to V.N. Dederko and S.V. Ugarova. Sweet peppers appeared in the State Register of Permitted for Use in 2015. You can grow a vegetable on a garden ridge, and under a film cover, and in a greenhouse. The variety is zoned according to different climatic zones of Russia - from the Central Black Earth to the Far Eastern regions.

Description of the variety

A mid-season variety is a plant that, under favorable conditions, grows to a height of 70-80 cm. A medium-sized half-stem type bush is characterized by weak spreading of branches, moderate foliage with wrinkled light green leaves, a developed root system and a female flowering type.

A feature of the plant is the weak growth of the bush on the sides. Fruits on the bushes are located "nose" down (drooping position). On each healthy pepper bush, up to 15 lined fruits ripen.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

Pepper Siberian format belongs to the group of large-fruited - vegetables grow on the bushes weighing from 129 to 300, sometimes up to 450 grams (12x10 cm). The shape of the vegetable is neat - cuboid or trapezoidal. At the stage of technical ripeness, the vegetable is covered with a dark green color, and the ripe fruit acquires a uniform ruby-red cover. The wall of the peppers is strong and thickened (thickness 8-10 mm), the skin is smooth, with a noticeable gloss and weak ribs. The structure of a vegetable consists of 3-4 seed chambers.

Ripe peppers can easily be transported, and are also endowed with good keeping quality if stored at the correct temperature. In addition, unripe peppers can be stored for about 1 month.

Purpose and taste

Sweet peppers of Siberian selection are famous for their excellent taste. The flesh of the vegetable has a dense, fleshy, crispy and very juicy consistency. The fruit has a balanced taste - summer sweetness plus a pronounced aroma that persists even after heat treatment. Pepper pulp contains a huge amount of vitamins and minerals.

The purpose of a vegetable culture is universal - peppers are eaten fresh, added to hot and cold dishes, pickled, stuffed, baked and frozen. In addition, the meatiness and aroma of the pepper allows it to be used for processing into sauces and dressings.

Ripening terms

Mid-season pepper. The growing season lasts 120-130 days. The fruits ripen gradually, so the fruiting of the variety is stretched. You can evaluate the taste of the first fruits already in July, and mass ripening occurs in August-September.

Yield

The yield indicators of the variety are excellent. On average, 4-4.6 kg of fleshy vegetables can be harvested from 1 m2 of planting. In greenhouse conditions, the yield is slightly higher - up to 9-10 kg / m2.

Landing scheme

The culture not only needs regular maintenance, but it also needs to be properly planted on the site / in the greenhouse. It is recommended to place no more than 5-7 pepper bushes per 1 m2, thus ensuring air circulation, light and heat for each plant. The vegetable is planted according to the 40x60 cm scheme.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and care

The vegetable is grown mainly in seedlings. Peppers can be planted in the greenhouse in mid-May. The culture is planted on garden beds after the temperature returns to normal, the soil warms up, return spring frosts will be left behind, and this is the end of May - the first days of June. It is not recommended to plant Siberian format sweet peppers in an area where tomatoes, potatoes or eggplants grew.

The agricultural technology of the plant includes a number of standard measures: regular irrigation with settled or warm water (drip system), fertilization 3-4 times per season (the vegetable reacts well to mineral complexes), loosening and weeding of the soil, the formation of bushes if necessary, prevention of diseases and insect infestations ... You need to tie up pepper bushes if the stems bend under the weight of the fruit.

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although pepper has a tree-like stem structure, it still needs additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agricultural techniques that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

Soil requirements

A crop is productive if it grows in light, loose, nutritious, moist, breathable and non-acidic soil. Growth and fruiting slows down when the plant grows in swampy soil.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Required climatic conditions

The Siberian format is a thermophilic plant that is resistant to partial shade, short drought and slight temperature fluctuations. Peppers need to be planted in a sunny and bright area, where there is protection from drafts.

Disease and pest resistance

Thanks to its good immunity, the plant is protected from many pepper diseases - black leg, Fusarium, Alternaria. Dangerous pests are aphids and slugs.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
