Sweet pepper Red bull impresses summer residents with the size of the fruit and the long-term yield of the crop. This hybrid is considered versatile, but quite demanding on growing conditions. Plants are tall, in need of a greenhouse shelter, the formation of a bush.

Description of the variety

The red bull belongs to hybrids with powerful indeterminate bushes and thick stems, a developed root system. Plants quickly gain strength, in the open field they turn out to be shorter than in greenhouses and under film shelters. During the fruiting period, 20-30 fruits are simultaneously formed on the plant, which, as the mass gains, heavily load the bush. At this stage, he will need additional supports in the form of a trellis.

The hybrid retains the intensity of fruiting even in low light conditions. Harvesting for subsequent commercial use begins at the stage of technical ripeness to avoid breaking off the shoots. During storage, ripening with a set of colors occurs rather quickly. This hybrid has mixed flowering.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

The bushes are vigorous, up to 150 cm, the hybrid is formed according to the half-stem, half-sprawling type. Leaves on plants are large, slightly wrinkled, dark green in color. Fruits drooped on legs.

Peppers Red Bull externally fully justify their name. They are large, prism-shaped, weighing 169-200 g. Fruits in a state of biological maturity turn red, in technical ones they are colored green. The skin is smooth, with a glossy sheen, the walls are thick, there are 3-4 seed chambers inside. Ribbing and waviness on the surface are pronounced.

Purpose and taste

The fruits are highly marketable. They have a fleshy juicy flesh, good or excellent taste. The aroma of the fruit is weak, not harsh. Peppers are used as salad vegetables, they are used in stuffing, freezing, and canning.

Ripening terms

Medium early hybrid, the period from germination to fruiting takes 95-108 days. Fruiting lasts from July to September and is extended.

Yield

A high-yielding hybrid, with an average yield of 15.0-18.8 kg / sq. m.

Growing regions

The hybrid is recommended for planting in the Central Region. Outdoor cultivation is possible in the south. Suitable for extended turnover with increased fruiting period. In practice, the hybrid is successfully cultivated in many regions, from Yakutia to the Kaliningrad region.

Landing scheme

It is considered optimal to place plants at a distance of 40 × 60 cm.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and care

Red bull refers to peppers that are cultivated in a one-year cycle. I get young plants by seedling, sowing seeds in March. They will be ready for transfer to greenhouses and open ground by May, when the period of return frosts has passed. After transplanting, the plants are deprived of lateral shoots and leaves located before the beginning of the first fork. Then the bushes are tied to the support.

A hybrid is formed by pinching the top of the central shoot. Grasshopping continues throughout the vegetative period. Only 5-6 branches should be kept on the bush for normal fruiting.

Red Bull pepper bushes are sensitive to watering intensity. It should be frequent, but not plentiful; during the flowering period, moisture is stopped. When feeding, it is important to avoid exceeding the nitrogen fertilizer level. Starting from the moment of flowering, it is worth switching to potassium-phosphorus compositions.

The rest of plant care is limited to loosening, weeding. To protect against drying out, the soil must be mulched.

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although pepper has a tree-like stem structure, it still needs additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agricultural techniques that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

Soil requirements

Plants need fertile, moist soil. The optimum would be a mixture of ordinary turf with peat or humus, with the addition of sawdust treated with urea for loosening.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Required climatic conditions

The best location for peppers is in sunny areas that get the most heat most of the day.

Disease and pest resistance

The complex protection of plants against most diseases is high. The red bull is practically not affected by TMV, it is genetically resistant to this virus. Additional protection against powdery mildew, verticillium wilting, late blight will not interfere with the bushes in the greenhouse. With high humidity and temperature changes, plants become vulnerable to them.

Among insects, red bull peppers are most interested in butterflies, scoops and whiteflies, spider mites, aphids, slugs. From them I use folk remedies or chemical insecticides.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.

Review overview

Summer residents praise Red Bull pepper very much, noting 100% seed germination, active growth of seedlings. Particular delight is caused by the size of the fruits, truly heroic, impressive, with a durable glossy skin, casting a varnish shine. This giant is not very suitable for growing on a windowsill, since it needs a fairly high humidity, but in a greenhouse the plants feel quite comfortable. Summer residents also respond positively to the taste properties of the fruits, mentioning the pronounced sweetness of ripe peppers, which they do not lose during conservation.

Amateur vegetable growers mention that the bushes should not be overfed with manure, otherwise they will give an intensive increase in green mass, but fruiting will be less abundant. In a warm, sunny summer, the first peppers can be tasted already in June. But the fruits do not ripen at the same time, which somewhat complicates the harvest.

The disadvantages include the need for plants to be pollinated by bees. Self-forming ovaries may not be enough. In the open field, such measures do not have to be taken, since there is free access for insects. And also the obvious disadvantages include the need for a garter of shoots, if you miss the deadline, the bushes can simply break.
