Ivolga pepper is a relatively old culture, due to which it managed to win the love of gardeners. The name of the variety speaks for itself - the yellow color of the vegetable resembles the color of bird feathers. Many farmers have chosen this type of pepper for their plot, since it is not troublesome to look after it, and you can count on a decent harvest.

Breeding history

This type of pepper appeared in Siberia thanks to the efforts of specialists from the Scientific Center of Vegetable Growing. Such breeders as A.P. Garmashova, E.L.Samodurova, V.V. Ognev, N.Yu. Antipova worked on the creation of the variety. In 2000, the vegetable was added to the list of the State Register and became available for mass cultivation.

Description of the variety

The Oriole variety is considered by breeders to be sweet. It is allowed to cultivate it not only in an open suburban area, but also in various kinds of greenhouses.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

Pepper bushes of this type are diminutive and standardized. Their leafiness is at an average level. Green leaves of moderate size are slightly wrinkled.

Fruits can be moderate or large in size and are directed towards the sky. In shape, the peppers are like a heart with a smooth peel that shines in the sun and walls 4-7 millimeters thick. In the technical phase of ripening, vegetables are colored green, ripe specimens are yellow. Each fruit contains 3-4 seed chambers.

Purpose and taste

The considered variety is universal in application. In addition to being eaten raw, the vegetable can be added to soups, salads, canned, frozen, stuffed. The peppers exude a pleasant, but weak aroma. Their flesh is dense and juicy. The taste is distinctly sweet.

Ripening terms

According to its characteristics, this species is considered early. The fruiting period starts 78-104 days after planting. Fruits begin to form in the middle of July and finish towards the end of August.

Yield

The described variety shows high productivity. On average, a farmer can remove 13.6 kilograms of peppers from one square meter. The vegetables have an impeccable presentation and are safely transported.

Growing regions

The geography of the Oriole is very extensive. Pepper is successfully cultivated in the Volga-Vyatka region, the Volga region, in the northern regions. Quite good results can be achieved in the Trans-Urals, Pskov and Arkhangelsk regions.

Landing scheme

When starting to plant a crop, a distance between the bushes of 40 centimeters should be observed. In addition, you need to provide for a gap separating one row from another - 70 centimeters.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and care

You should start planting seeds at the end of February or in the second decade of March. On the eve of the planting material, you need to sort out and hold for some time in a solution of an additive that accelerates growth. They try to heat the room to 20-24 degrees and keep it lit for half a day.

In late May - early June, when the matured young plants have 8-9 leaves, they are moved to a permanent place.

It is necessary to immerse seedlings in the ground up to the first pair of leaves.

Taking care of the plant, it must be systematically watered with heated water. This procedure is best done in the evenings. To maintain normal air exchange, it is customary to loosen the soil after moistening, simultaneously clearing the bed of weeds.

About once every two weeks, the peppers need to be fed. Rotted manure or compost can act as fertilizer.

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although pepper has a tree-like stem structure, it still needs additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agricultural techniques that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

Soil requirements

The culture feels best in medium loamy, fertile, light soils. For a greater effect, fertilizers are applied to the ground. It is useful to plant peppers in beds where cabbage, pumpkin or beans were previously cultivated.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Required climatic conditions

For the cultivation of the Oriole, it is advisable to select an area where the sun's rays fall without obstacles.

It is noticed that the described variety of pepper heroically endures cold weather, temperature fluctuations and other bad weather.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety shows serious resistance to many types of pathologies. However, it can be attacked by spider mites or aphids. As a preventive procedure, it is advised to spray the foliage with fungicides, an infusion of onion husks, or a soap solution.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.

Review overview

Not only experienced gardeners, but also novice summer residents express a positive opinion about this variety. They note that the pepper bushes are strong, they do not need a garter, and the culture is easy to care for. In addition, the palatability of the fruit can be assessed on a solid five.
