Farmers and gardeners are very fond of growing pepper varieties with an early ripening period in the plots, thanks to which you can enjoy the fleshy and aromatic sweet peppers in the middle of summer. Denis pepper of Dutch selection is considered a popular species among early ripening hybrids.

Breeding history

The Denis hybrid appeared thanks to the work of Dutch breeders. Despite the fact that the vegetable crop has not yet been included in the State Register of Admitted to Use, it is in great demand among summer residents and farmers. The hybrid is zoned in the Siberian region. It is recommended to grow peppers in various types of greenhouse structures, however, a hybrid can also grow in the garden and give good yields.

Description of the variety

Dutch pepper Denis is a tall half-stemmed bush that can stretch up to 80-100 cm in a greenhouse, and up to 60-70 cm outdoors. The plant is characterized by medium foliage with large leaves, weak branching, developed rhizome and mixed type of flowering.

A feature of the plant is very fragile shoots, so it needs a mandatory tie to a support in order to avoid deformation and breakage under the weight of large peppers. On a healthy bush, 6-7 large fruits ripen.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

The Dutch hybrid is famous for its excellent commercial qualities. The variety belongs to large-fruited. The fruits ripen on the bushes aligned and neat. On average, the mass of pepper is about 400 grams with a length of up to 17-18 cm. The shape of the fruit is elongated, cylindrical, with obvious irregularities on the sides.

At the stage of technical maturity, the vegetable has a dark green color, and the ripe pepper acquires a uniform ruby-red coat. The wall of the vegetable is very dense (thickness is about 1-1.2 cm), the peel is glossy, smooth, with slight ribbing.

The harvested crop is transportable, and can also be stored for a long time at the correct temperature regime - about 2 months. In addition, harvested vegetables at the stage of technical maturity also have a long shelf life after ripening at room temperature.

Purpose and taste

Sweet pepper Denis is remembered for its excellent taste and rich aroma. Pepper flesh is characterized by a firm, fleshy, juicy and slightly crunchy texture without wateriness. The taste of the vegetable is dominated by summer sweetness, harmoniously combined with a bright aroma that persists even after heat treatment. It is also worth highlighting that the slightest bitterness is absent in pepper. The seed chambers in the fetus are 3-4. The huge advantage of this type is the rich and healthy composition of the pulp, which includes lycopene, anthocyanins and antioxidants.

Ripe peppers have a universal purpose - they are eaten fresh, salads are prepared, added to cold and hot dishes, pickled, canned and frozen. The meatiness and juiciness of the fruits make them ideal for making lecho and other sauces.

Ripening terms

The variety is early maturing. The growing season lasts only 90-100 days. The germination of sprouts is friendly. The massive harvest takes place in July-August.

Yield

This species is declared as high-yielding.On average, following all agrotechnical recommendations, you can collect about 4 kg of meat peppers from 1 m2 of plantings. Growing in a greenhouse, you can get higher yields of the vegetable. The maximum yield in greenhouse conditions reaches 26 kg / m2, and in a garden bed - 10-12 kg / m2.

Landing scheme

The culture needs not only care, but also the observance of certain rules during planting - density, distance between bushes. No more than 4-5 pepper bushes can be planted per 1 m2. The optimal layout for planting is 40x60 cm.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and care

Planting a vegetable in a greenhouse is carried out in mid-May, and on a ridge in early June. For planting in open ground, special conditions are required - a stable air temperature of + 16 ... 18 degrees, as well as a sufficiently heated ground. In addition, there should be no threat of a return of spring frosts, otherwise you can not count on a good harvest. Covering with a film or agrofibre immediately after planting in open ground will help protect pepper bushes from hypothermia. It is not recommended to plant peppers in an area where tomatoes or potatoes previously grew.

The agricultural technology of Denis vegetable culture consists of basic measures: regular irrigation with warm or settled water (only in the evening), the introduction of organic and mineral dressings (three times during the growing season), loosening and weeding of the soil, which improves moisture / air permeability, garter and the formation of bushes, prevention of viruses and pests. In addition, greenhouses require regular ventilation to keep humidity levels under control.

In the midst of the heat, the plant is watered 2-3 times a week - in the morning. Fertilizers for the culture are recommended liquid, which are applied at the root. When loosening and hilling, it should be borne in mind that the root system of the plant is not too deep, so the depth of loosening should not exceed 2-3 cm.When forming a bush, it should be borne in mind that it is most convenient to lead it in 2 stems.

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although pepper has a tree-like stem structure, it still needs additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agrotechnical methods that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

Soil requirements

The plant has no special requirements for the soil. It is important that the soil is light, fertile, moisture and air permeable, and also has a neutral acidity index.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Required climatic conditions

Pepper Denis is a thermophilic culture endowed with good resistance to various adverse conditions. The plant loves moisture, so much attention is paid to irrigation technology. For cultivation, a sunny and weed-free area is selected, where diffused light is observed throughout the day, and there is also good protection from gusty winds and drafts.

Disease and pest resistance

The culture has a good immune system that protects against many viruses and diseases - the tobacco mosaic virus, verticillium, fusarium. Dangerous pests for Dutch pepper include aphids, flea beetles and Colorado potato beetle.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
