In each garden or summer cottage there is a place allocated for planting sweet peppers. Unpretentious and productive varieties of universal use are in special demand. One of these is the mid-ripening variety of Bychok, bred by Russian breeders.

Breeding history

The orange-fruited variety of Goby was obtained thanks to the long-term work of domestic scientists of the Poisk agrofirm in 2006. The authors of the vegetable culture are Kostenko A.N., Klimenko N.N. and Maksimov S.V.

The variety was entered into the State Register of approved cultivation in 2008. The culture is zoned in all climatic zones of the country. You can grow a vegetable both in garden ridges and in greenhouses.

Description of the variety

The goby is a semi-spreading shrub of the standard type, which in a favorable environment stretches up to 50-60 cm in height. The plant has an average thickening of dark green slightly wrinkled foliage, a powerful central stem, a mixed type of flowering and a superficial root system. A distinctive feature of the bush is the non-standard arrangement of the fruits - "noses" up. On a healthy pepper bush, 6-8 even fruits ripen.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

The variety belongs to large-fruited species. On the bushes, specimens weighing about 150 grams ripen. The peppers grow neat and almost identical, which makes it possible to grow the variety for commercial purposes. The shape of the vegetable is unusual - round, tapering towards the top.

At the stage of technical ripeness, the vegetable has a bright green color, and a fully ripe pepper is evenly covered with a dark orange cover. The peppery structure consists of 2-3 seed chambers. The peel of the fruit is dense and firm (wall thickness 4.5-5 mm), perfectly smooth, with a pronounced shine and medium ribbing.

The fruits have high keeping rates, and vegetables can be transported over long distances without significant losses. Harvested unripe fruits can ripen at room temperature.

Purpose and taste

Orange pepper has a memorable taste. The pale yellow flesh is endowed with a firm, fleshy, crunchy and very juicy texture without wateriness. The taste contains pleasant sweetness, light sugariness, which are complemented by a pronounced aroma that does not disappear even after heat treatment. The advantage of the variety is also the increased content of carotene in the pulp.

The harvested crop can always be used - peppers are eaten fresh, added to cold and hot dishes, used as a decoration in cooking, baked, frozen, canned in slices, processed into dressings and ketchups.

Ripening terms

The goby is a mid-season variety. The growing season for a crop lasts 100-125 days. The peppers spice up uncommonly, so the fruiting period is extended, which allows you to enjoy fresh and juicy vegetables for a long time. You can evaluate the taste already at the beginning of July. The peak of fruiting occurs in July-August. In the southern regions, the peppers ripen until the end of September.

Yield

The variety is high-yielding, which captivates many vegetable growers and farmers. On average, 5 kg of healthy and crispy peppers can be harvested from 1 m2 of planting.

Landing scheme

When planting a vegetable, the density and distance between the pepper bushes should be observed, since the plant needs air and constant lighting. You can place 4-5 bushes per 1 m2. When planting, they adhere to the 60x40 cm scheme.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and caring

A vegetable crop is planted most often in a seedling method, since this provides earlier ripening and abundant fruiting. Seedlings are planted in a greenhouse in mid-May, and in open ground - in early June, when the soil and air are already warmed up. For planting, seedlings are selected at the age of 60-70 days. The optimal precursors for this culture will be onions, cabbage, zucchini and pumpkin.

To get a good return, you need to ensure the correct farming technique for the pepper:

  • regular watering with warm water under the root (every week, and 2-3 times in extreme heat);
  • fertilization 4-5 times per season (the vegetable reacts well to mineral complexes);
  • frequent shallow loosening and weeding;
  • shaping into 2 stems and garter bushes;
  • prevention of viruses and insect attacks.

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although pepper has a tree-like stem structure, it still needs additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of the ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agrotechnical methods that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

Soil requirements

The soil for sweet peppers should be light, fertile, with good moisture and air permeability, as well as neutral acidity. There will be no productive culture growing in clay and waterlogged soils.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Required climatic conditions

The goby is a thermophilic culture, therefore, a sunny site should be chosen for it, with good air circulation and a sufficient amount of light throughout the day. The main thing is that the plants are protected from drafts and dampness.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety has a natural immunity to many fungal diseases, therefore, adherence to agricultural technology and timely prevention will help to avoid many diseases.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
