Gardeners and farmers, choosing a pepper variety for planting on the site, dream of bountiful harvests, which do not require much effort to obtain. Unpretentious and high-yielding is the Bugai pepper, of domestic selection.

Breeding history

Bugai is a variety bred by Russian breeders in 2011. The authors of the vegetable culture are scientists Dederko V.N. and Ugarova S.V. You can grow a vegetable in greenhouses and hotbeds, and in tunnels, and on garden ridges. The vegetable is zoned in different climatic zones of Russia - from the Central region to the Far East and West Siberian.

Description of the variety

Pepper Bugai is a medium-sized plant that grows up to 50-60 cm in height under favorable conditions. The half-stem bush is characterized by semi-spreading branches, moderate foliage, dark green leaves of medium size, drooping fruit arrangement, a powerful central stem and a female type of flowering (flowers are cupped form). The variety belongs to self-pollinated varieties. During the growing season, 10-12 fleshy giant peppers ripen on each bush.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

Bell peppers are famous for their attractive appearance. The variety belongs to large-fruited species. On average, the weight of a vegetable is 84-120 g, length - 16-20 cm, but often the fruits grow up to 500 grams. The shape of the peppers is cuboid. At the stage of technical ripeness, vegetables have a greenish-white color, and ripe peppers are evenly covered with an amber-yellow cover. The peel of fruits is of medium density (4-10 mm), firm, perfectly smooth, with a pronounced glossy cover and smooth edges.

The harvested crop tolerates transportation well, and also has a long keeping quality.

Purpose and taste

Bugai is a sweet pepper with excellent taste and aroma. The honey-colored pepper pulp is characterized by a dense, fleshy, crispy and juicy consistency without wateriness. The fruit has a harmonious taste - bright sweetness is perfectly combined with delicate spicy notes in the aroma, which persist even after heat treatment. The pepper has 4-5 nests with a small number of small seeds.

Ripe fruits are eaten fresh, added to salads, soups and side dishes, pickled, canned, frozen. The only inconvenience is that the pepper has to be cut into slices, strips, cubes for blanks, since the vegetable is very large.

Ripening terms

Pepper Bugay represents a group of mid-season varieties. From full shoots to ripening of the first fruits on the bushes, it takes about 4 months - 115-120 days. Ripening of fruits is friendly. The fruiting period of the culture is extended, so in the southern regions you can enjoy fresh pepper from the garden until the very cold weather. The peak of fruiting occurs in the second half of July-August, and then - as the fruits ripen.

Yield

The variety is quite fruitful. On average, up to 5.5 kg of fleshy fruits can be removed from 1 m2 of plantings. In the greenhouse, the yield is slightly higher - up to 8-10 kg / m2.

Landing scheme

Plants need not only care, but also proper planting, density and distance. It is recommended to plant 5-6 bushes per 1 m2. Bugai pepper is planted according to the 40x50 cm scheme.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and care

Peppers are planted mainly through seedlings. Planting in a greenhouse and open ground is carried out from late May to early June - the main thing is that the temperature stabilizes and the soil warms up well.

Vegetable care is standard - regular watering with settled / warm water, fertilization (3-4 times per season), loosening and single hilling, garter and formation of bushes, prevention of viruses, ventilation (greenhouse).

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although pepper has a tree-like stem structure, it still needs additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agricultural techniques that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

Soil requirements

This culture is capable of growing in different potting mixes. The main thing is that they are light, nutritious, moisture and air permeable, and also characterized by neutral acidity.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Required climatic conditions

Pepper Bugai is a thermophilic plant adapted to sharp temperature fluctuations. It is recommended to plant yellow peppers in an area where it is constantly light, sunny, there is protection from drafts, and there is no stagnation of moisture.

Disease and pest resistance

The plant has an average immunity, therefore, pepper is tolerant to a number of diseases - the tobacco mosaic virus, cladosporium, fusarium wilt. Most often, the culture is attacked by pests such as aphids and the Colorado potato beetle.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
