There are many varieties of sweet peppers, but not all varieties can boast great taste and abundant yields. These are the characteristics endowed with the early maturing variety Ivanhoe, bred by Nasko more than 20 years ago.

Description of the variety

Aivengo vegetable culture is a medium-sized plant that can grow to a height of 60-70 cm. The compact half-stem bush is characterized by good spreading of branches, medium thickening of medium-sized emerald-green leaves, a strong central stem with pronounced pubescence and drooping fruit arrangement.

During the flowering period, medium-sized white-yellowish flowers appear on the bushes, sometimes collected in bunches. On a healthy pepper bush, up to 10 lined peppers are formed and matured.

Bell peppers are cultivated mainly in greenhouses, since the plant does not tolerate prolonged cold weather. On the garden ridges, Ivanhoe is grown exclusively in the southern regions of the country.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and fruits

Ivanhoe is a medium-fruited variety. On average, the weight of a vegetable is 90-140 grams (length up to 10 cm). The vegetable is famous for its presentable appearance, since the peppers ripen neat and aligned. The shape of the fruit is conical, elongated.

During the growing season, the fruit changes color three times. The unripe pepper is covered with a white-cream color, then it turns bright yellow, and at the stage of absolute ripeness it acquires a rich red cover. The pepper is considered to be thick-walled (7 mm thick). The surface of the vegetable is smooth, firm, shiny, with barely noticeable ribbing. The heart of a pepper consists of 2-3 seed chambers.

This variety is characterized by good transportability and long-term keeping quality of vegetables without loss of taste and marketability. Peppers removed at the stage of technical maturity lend themselves to preservation.

Purpose and taste

The variety impresses with its excellent taste. The pale scarlet flesh is endowed with a fleshy, moderately dense, tender, crunchy and very juicy consistency without wateriness. The vegetable has a harmonious taste - sweetish, with a pleasant sugar content and peppery aroma. Even the slightest bitterness and pungency is absent in the taste.

The resulting harvest can be used - peppers are eaten fresh, added to sparse, in various cold dishes, canned, pickled and frozen. In addition, vegetables are baked, stuffed and processed into sauces.

Ripening terms

The variety is mid-season. From mass germination to ripening of the first fruits on the bushes, only 115 days pass. Fruit ripening is uniform. The fruiting period is protracted. Harvesting begins at the end of June and continues until autumn. It is recommended to remove the peppers every 2-3 days.

Yield

The yield of the culture is pleasing. With proper agricultural technology, 6-7 kg of fleshy specimens can be collected from 1 m2 of plantings. On an industrial scale, the figures are also pleasantly pleasing - about 80 c / ha.

Landing scheme

It is important not only to provide care for the plant, but also to plant it correctly, observing the density and distance between the bushes. Due to the fact that the pepper is resistant to thickening, up to 7-8 specimens can be placed per 1 m2. Landing is carried out according to the scheme 30x30 cm.

To get a large and tasty harvest of pepper, you need to take care of the seedlings in advance. When growing pepper seedlings, you need to correctly determine the sowing time, pre-sowing seed treatment, prepare the necessary container and soil.

Growing and care

Planting is carried out mainly through seedlings. For this, mature bushes are selected at the age of 60-65 days, 18-20 cm high, which have 5-10 leaves and a formed root system. Planting is carried out from mid-May to early June. The best precursors for sweet peppers are green manure, legumes, squash, and pumpkin.

Crop care includes standard procedures:

  • regular watering at the root with warm or settled water (1-2 times a week);
  • feeding 3-4 times during the growing season (alternating organic matter and mineral complexes);
  • loosening, weeding and mandatory mulching;
  • garters of bushes to supports or trellises;
  • removal of unnecessary shoots, prevention of viruses and fungi.

Some subtleties of care: the garter is carried out 2 weeks after planting the pepper bushes. This will prevent the plants from deforming from gusty winds. In addition, when cultivating in greenhouse structures, one should not forget about periodic ventilation.

To harvest a tasty and rich harvest of pepper, you need to comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology, and proper care begins with planting plants. Before planting pepper in open ground, it should be prepared. It is also important to take care of the seedlings and planting space in advance.

One of the most important conditions for growing healthy and strong peppers is correct and timely watering, which is necessary for active growth, rapid rooting and good fruiting of plants in a greenhouse or open field. The soil under it should not dry out. This can be achieved by following the basic recommendations. First of all, you should be guided by the weather. In addition, the phase of development of the plants is important, as well as the way the peppers are grown - in a greenhouse or in the open field.
Although peppers have a tree-like stem structure, they still need additional support. If the peppers are not tied up, the plants will begin to lean to the ground under the weight of the ripening fruits, the stem may break. Low-growing varieties, as a rule, do not need a garter. But for tall and hybrid varieties, it is necessary.
Every summer resident who decides to grow pepper on his site must learn how to form it correctly. The formation of pepper is one of the simplest and most effective agrotechnical methods that allow you to extend the term and increase the fruiting of a crop.

Soil requirements

This variety prefers fluffy, light, moist, breathable and fertile soils with neutral or low acidity.

For good growth of pepper bushes and active fruiting, you need to regularly apply mineral and organic fertilizing to the soil. It is necessary not only to choose the right formulations, but also to use them at the right stage in the development of culture. The frequency of top dressing is always individual. It depends directly on the composition of the land on your site. The poorer the soil composition, the more often you will need to feed the pepper.

Required climatic conditions

Ivanhoe is a thermophilic plant that does not tolerate prolonged cold snaps, dry periods and temperature fluctuations. It is recommended to plant peppers in the southern part of the site, where it is warm, light, and there is protection from drafts. In addition, the groundwater level should be no higher than 1 meter. The best place will be a hill and a plain.

Disease and pest resistance

The Ivanhoe vegetable crop has a strong resistance to infections and viruses. The plant is resistant to verticillium wilt and tobacco mosaic virus.

Pepper is one of the most common vegetables in home gardens. This culture is quite stable and unpretentious. However, under certain conditions, this plant can suffer from infections and harmful insects. Before treating peppers for diseases or pests, you need to find out the cause of the problem, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective.
