PVL-rolled - mesh sheets made from ordinary opaque and impermeable blanks. They are used as a semi-permeable partition in systems where the movement of gases or liquids is important.

Peculiarities

The first thing that comes to mind from episodes of past years when mentioning PVL products is fences and mesh dampers in the hood. And now, instead of the usual "wire" mesh, mainly expanded metal products are used. However, the size 508 has much larger cells to be installed in residential ventilation ducts, where this cell size is simply not needed.

The peculiarities of the production of the PVL product are as follows. The hot-rolled steel sheet is fed to an expanding machine, where it is notched in a checkerboard pattern with small cuts. The location of these slots is strictly parallel - their rows are shifted slightly relative to each other. If this shift did not occur, then, upon further stretching, the sheet thus perforated would break in many places. After multiple cuts and stretching, it is compressed, which makes it flat again.

Typically, a steel grade is selected that retains significant ductility and little tensile brittleness.

Among the grades of steel used for PVL, St3Sp, however, excess sulfur and phosphorus are carefully removed from the alloys, which make the workpieces brittle and brittle: you cannot stretch the brittle steel, it will immediately crack. After production, the mesh is sent for anodizing or hot coating with non-ferrous metal - mainly zinc. However, the PVL mesh is made of aluminum or stainless steel - the latter, in general, do not react in any way with the natural content of water vapor in the air.

A significant advantage of PVL is a reduction in the total weight of 1 m2 of sheet compared to the same billet made of solid sheet rolling... This saves the resource of iron and other alloying metals available today, and also allows the consumer to reduce the cost of building materials.

Dimensions and weight

The technical characteristics of PVL-508 are represented by the following values. The thickness of the sheet is 16.8 mm, the thickness of the initial sheet from which the mesh is made is 5. The length of the sheet is up to 6 m, the width is up to 1.4. The weight of 1 m2 is 20.9 kg, the indentation of the centers of neighboring cells is 11 cm. The typical width of expanded metal, often found on construction markets and building market warehouses, is 1 meter.

Types of steel

Steel mesh PVL are made not only from St3. With equal success, you can use the composition of St4, St5, St6, but not the boiling modification of the alloy (for example, St3kp). Any low and medium carbon (but not high carbon - they break like a spring when overstretched, trying to bend it) steel alloys, some stainless steel (from inexpensive ones, for example, the 10X13 ruler - containing 13-15% chromium) are welcome.

The steel grade chosen by the manufacturer can be replaced with a slightly different one, close in characteristics.

If necessary, steel sheet-rolling can be hardened and tempered, normalized before processing PVL mesh from it - it all depends on the load values for which it is subsequently designed. The fact is that the difference where the PVL is used is significant - a fence or a fence, on which no one relies, or steps of stairs, where a stream of people with a weight of each person of about 90 kg constantly passes.An additional influence on the mesh is exerted by the fatigue characteristics of a structure or structure: its elements additionally pull each other in different directions, when one of them bends slightly under the influence of a one-time and accidental extreme load. Therefore, certain requirements apply to steels, depending on the degree of responsibility of the elements.

Applications

Before announcing the main and auxiliary industries for which the PVL product is of particular importance, we will list other advantages:

  • relatively high strength;

  • lack of welding seams;

  • durability (no worse than a solid sheet or the corresponding reinforcing lattice);

  • anti-slip (the edges of the cells are relatively sharp and cling to each other);

  • resistance to kinks and tears;

  • attractive appearance;

  • use in 65-degree frost (this is the minimum of low temperatures);

  • the mesh conducts light and air.

Galvanized and stainless steel save from rusting. The rusting sheet is additionally colored.

PVL is used to create load-bearing structures - fences and fences. The auxiliary role of PVL products is partitions within the limits of the bearing pillar and beam elements. Ventshakhta and ventilation ducts, steps of stairs are also covered with blanks of expanded metal: the sheet is self-cleaning from snow, dirt and other voluminous and relatively large impurities that pass through it.

Acceptance and control

After release, the products are controlled according to the following scheme. Since a PVL block weighs 1 ton, excluding gaskets and packaging, three such sheets from each batch are checked. If defects are detected (for example, not completely cut holes and, as a result, a violation of drawing), 6 sheets from the same block are already checked. Inspection is carried out for inhomogeneities - this defect will spoil not only the appearance of the sheet, but also cause a deterioration in the uniformity of the weight load, which subsequently turns out to be on such blanks.

Transport and storage

Expanded metal sheets are transported in blocks of 1 ton. Inserts with a width of at least 10 cm and a thickness of at least 2 cm are laid between the blocks. In this case, the sheets are tied with wire in increments of 1 or 1.5 m between adjacent strapping lines. The sheets are stored in rooms with low humidity, away from salts, alkalis and acids, in a non-aggressive environment. Even stainless steel and galvanized steel do not tolerate acid vapors - their effect on the integrity of the sheet must be excluded.
