Many women spend most of their time in the kitchen. Unfortunately, kitchens do not always have the desired space. Therefore, it is very important, with a minimum of space, to make this part of your home as comfortable and convenient as possible.

Space layout

The key to a well-structured kitchen is planning the space and conveniently placing the most important appliances so that frequently performed tasks can be completed easily and efficiently. For example, to make coffee, you need to fill a kettle with water, remove coffee and milk from the refrigerator, and find coffee cups. They must be at arm's length for the task to be completed effectively.

Planning a workspace is called a “work triangle” by professional designers. Its total distance should be between 5 and 7 meters. If it is less, then the person may feel constrained. And if more - then a lot of time will be spent searching for the necessary accessories for cooking.

Linear kitchens are becoming more and more trendy these days as they allow you to create an open plan space. If this option is used, it is better to consider placing the work area inside.

Necessarily in the kitchen, even the one that has only 6 sq. m, there should be space for cooking, serving and washing dishes. The compactness will allow the associated equipment to be stored close to the occupied area, have enough space to work and complete the task at hand.

Headset placement options

If a narrow kitchen is planned, then the only option for preserving free space will be to use large niches and built-in drawers, where both inventory and equipment are removed. Often a refrigerator is also installed in a niche.

In height, the headsets can take up all the space to the ceiling, and, if possible, the drawers should open upwards, and not to the side.

A folding table is placed on such a small areaso that it can be partially folded down after lunch to free up space. As for the refrigerator, it does not need to be installed to the door or close to the wall, since its door in the open state can hit the wall or interfere with the passage. The best place is near the window in the corner.

The U-shaped kitchen creates optimal space for working and storing utensils. An L-shape is also a good option if the sink is on one side and the stove is on the other.

As for the space in the middle, this design is more useful for large kitchens where blocks are placed around the perimeter of the room. It can be located at a distance from the working triangle, providing seating and additional storage space for instruments. If you have a kitchen of 6 squares, you will not really be overclocked with imagination. Somewhere you have to make room, with something to part.

When placing the refrigerator, make sure that it is not close to the wall.as this will limit the opening to 90 degrees. Do not place the appliance next to the oven or stove, as this position will affect the efficiency of the work. When installing such large appliances, make sure that there is sufficient working space between the hob and the sink.

One of the more modern design ideas is the use of a built-in refrigerator with drawers. From the outside, it is impossible to immediately understand what it really is - sections for storing dishes or boxes for food. The total capacity of such a unit is 170 liters. It includes 2 external drawers and an internal one. If you have a small space in a compact room, this would be a great kitchen design idea with a minimum of squares.

Frequent mistakes

When designing a small kitchen, several mistakes are often made:

  • 600 mm is the standard minimum cabinet depth. If you have extra space and budget, why not take advantage of these features and expand your storage area. The same goes for the depth of standard headsets.
  • The second mistake is that the height to the ceiling is not used in full, but only part of it. Most of the apartments have 2,700 mm ceilings, the kitchen unit is much lower and everything above is empty space. You need to design the kitchen so that the furniture in it rises to the very ceiling. Top cabinets can be used to store accessories that are less commonly used.
  • The working area is located irrationally, so you have to make a lot of unnecessary movements while cooking.
  • Appliances should be built-in, not stand-alone. This can save usable space.

Advice

Kitchen space planners give advice on how to equip a kitchen with a refrigerator. Let's get acquainted with these recommendations.

  • Lighting is often overlooked, but it allows you to efficiently organize the workspace and visually increase the size of the room.
  • If it is possible to re-equip a part of the niche, which in most apartments goes into the corridor, under the space for the refrigerator, then it is best to do this.
  • A tiny kitchen needs to look compact, so a built-in refrigerator is the best option.
  • It is better to hide the refrigerator doors and make them match the overall design. The less contrast, the better for the space.
  • If you don't feel like having a solid color kitchen option, then opt for a large refrigerator with extra features like an ice machine to set the tone for the rest of the kitchen.
  • The refrigerator can be removed from the kitchen and moved to the corridor, in most cases this does not cause discomfort. But this option is suitable, of course, only in cases where the corridor is spacious or with a niche.
  • In order to compactly use the kitchen area, you can simply place all the boxes, appliances and the working area around the perimeter of the room. The middle will remain free. At the same time, the seats can be screwed to the wall, thus making them more compact. It is not difficult to build it, and a lot of space will be freed up. You can choose folding seats.

There are many projects of how the interior of a small kitchen might look. In the absence of imagination, you can always spy on ready-made solutions on the Internet, where there are options for kitchens that are different in color and layout. At the same time, it is not at all necessary to select a monochromatic design, since there are more interesting solutions. In addition, every furniture store has magazines for the design of any space.
