Features, advantages and disadvantages

The armchair in the bedroom creates a small comfort zone where you can relax comfortably with an interesting book, have a cup of hot tea, do handicrafts or just relax after a hard day at work. Installing a chair in this room has the following advantages:

  • allows you to sit down and relax without wrinkling the bedspreads;
  • you can always put a blanket on it at night;
  • the chair can be used as a place to store extra pillows, a bathrobe or soft toys - so that they do not get in the way of the bed;
  • in cool weather, you can put a spare blanket on it in advance if it gets cold at night;
  • the armchair has every chance to become a stylish accent of the interior of the room - a wide variety of modern models allows you to choose the best option for each stylistic solution of the room.

The chairs have no significant drawbacks. However, if a small room is allocated for the recreation area, then the chair can create the effect of visual congestion of the space.

Varieties

The modern furniture industry offers several chair options for installation in the bedroom.

Classic

Classic models are equipped with armrests - this is very important, otherwise you will not be able to relax. These models are usually soft. The most modern products include a high reclining backrest and footrest, which significantly increases the level of comfort of use.

Egg chair

For lovers of extraordinary interiors, we can recommend an egg chair. It is distinguished by its rounded geometry, which harmoniously fits into a variety of modern interiors, gives an absolute feeling of comfort, while ensuring complete safety. Due to the design features of the model, the deviation from the vertical axis reaches 30 degrees. According to the installation method, they can be of two types.

  • Floor structures, as the name suggests, is installed on the floor, while the stability of the "egg" is provided by an additional stand with a wide base or a cross.
  • Suspended models fixed to a special tripod or to the ceiling beams. Such models are very popular because they allow you to swing.

Rocking chair

Rocking chairs have been in demand for more than one century. Measured back and forth movements have a calming effect, promote relaxation and allow you to fight stress and nervous tension. Such furniture is especially relevant in the room of a young mother - measured swaying lulls the child and allows the woman to sleep well. Depending on the design of the base of rocking chairs, there are several varieties.

  • Products on runners. They visually resemble a large chair with armrests and a high back. Such chairs are characterized by reliability and ease of use; some products are additionally equipped with a leg support.
  • Glide. These chairs are set statically and rocking is achieved through the movement of the seat. It is fixed to the base through hinges, while the mechanism works absolutely silently. If desired, you can change the angle of the backrest in the range from horizontal to vertical.
  • Ring-bearing rockers. Such models work due to the spring - it performs rhythmic swaying.

Frameless

Frameless armchairs have become popular in recent years. They are especially relevant in the bedroom, since they do not take up much space, but at the same time they allow you to maximize muscle relaxation due to the ability to take the shape of the body. However, these models are not suitable for the elderly or users with musculoskeletal disabilities, as the lack of support can make it difficult for them to lift.

Such chairs are easy to rearrange, they have removable covers, so they are easy and simple to clean, if necessary, you can always quickly update the filler.

Modern models of frameless chairs are presented in a variety of forms - ottomans, pears, balls and pillows.

Dimensions (edit)

The armchair in the bedroom can have a wide variety of dimensions. They are not regulated in any way, therefore, each user makes the choice of specific sizes himself, relying only on personal preferences and his own vision of the bedroom environment. However, the following principles should be adhered to:

  • the dimensions of the chair should be proportional and in harmony with the parameters of the rest of the furniture in the sleeping block; if you have a small single bed, then massive armchairs will be inappropriate here and vice versa;
  • for a small bedroom, it is better to opt for compact products or frameless chairs;
  • in bedrooms furnished with massive wooden furniture, you can use larger models in a classic design.

Design and colors

The armchair in the bedroom must be selected taking into account the general style and color scheme of the interior, otherwise it will look like a foreign object.

  • The simplest design involves using armchairs in neutral shades of natural wood... There is no place for massive decorative elements, although light carving will be very useful. Such products perfectly correspond to the style of Provence, respectively, and the color scheme here should be white, pistachio, light purple or nude.
  • The Empire style is characterized by armchairs made of wood, upholstered in silk or brocade. Such furniture is equipped with a high back and armrests, it is distinguished by graceful curves and an abundance of decor.
  • In a bedroom furnished in the Baroque or Rococo style, armchairs with legs in the shape of animal paws will harmoniously fit in. Such products are covered with shiny varnish, decorated with carvings, as well as inlay or mosaic. Velvet or satin is used as upholstery material.
  • For modern streamlined shapes are characteristic, and the tint range is usually performed either in nude tones, or, conversely, in contrasting ones.
  • Ideas are commonly used in modern interiors minimalism or hi-tech... Such chairs have a low seating position; glass and chrome-plated metal are most often used as materials. The preferred colors are black, white and graphite.

Selection Tips

Before heading to the store for a new bedroom chair, you should imagine a model that will suit your needs. If you do not screen out in advance according to some criteria, then the store can simply be confused by the breadth of the models presented. So, before buying, you need to answer the following questions:

  • How do you plan to use the chair in the bedroom - will you read on it during the daytime, or do you need to be near the sick person's bed, or do you plan to rock your baby while sitting in the chair?
  • whether you want to make the armchair a bright accent element in the interior, or, on the contrary, prefer it to blend in with the overall decor of the bedroom;
  • what part of the room space can you allocate for additional furniture.

Important! Be sure to evaluate the age and lifestyle of the owners of the room, as well as the physical parameters of the users - keep in mind that the lower the chair, the more difficult it will be for a tall person to get out of it without assistance.

In the store, pay attention to several parameters.

  • Material. Give preference to environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic materials, they must be practical and durable. Plus, you shouldn't have any trouble cleaning them. Be sure to ask for sanitary and hygienic certificates for the products offered to you.
  • Dimensions. The chair should not impede movement in the bedroom or block the passage to the bed, wardrobe and door.
  • Workmanship. Do not be lazy to carefully examine the chair - it must be done "conscientiously". Any damage, deformation and other flaws are not allowed. The upholstery should be evenly stretched, the presence of protruding threads, scuffs and torn areas directly indicates a poor quality of the product. Rate the quality of the filler as well. To do this, conduct a small test - press on the chair. After you remove your hand, the depression should quickly return to its original position. If this did not happen, then it is better to refuse the purchase - such a chair will serve you for a very short time.
  • It is advisable to purchase products from reliable manufacturers.having a good reputation in the market.

Of course, branded furniture costs more, but the operational period of such products is much longer, and usually no problems arise during use.

Examples in the interior

Chairs in the bedroom are used for relaxation and comfortable rest during the daytime, which is why they should be cozy, safe and easy to use. However, no less attention should be paid to design.
