Everyone is eagerly awaiting the appearance of the first berry - strawberry. Sweet, aromatic garden strawberries are one of the favorite berries of children and adults.

Breeding history

The Vivaldi strawberry is bred by breeders in the Netherlands. Cross-pollination was carried out in 2003-2005. It appeared in Russia and other countries in 2015–2016.

Description of the variety

The plant is medium-sized, erect, branched bush. Blooms profusely. The peduncles themselves are below the level of the leaves. The berry seems to be hiding in the foliage from the sun's rays and birds that want to feast on it. Mustache formation is average and supervision is required.

Ripening terms

The mid-season Vivaldi variety blooms in June and mid-summer. The berries ripen at the same time, and the abundant collection of strawberries takes place in a short time.

Growing regions

The Vivaldi strawberry variety was created for growing in different climatic conditions, therefore it can be grown in all regions. In the northern regions, it is possible to plant strawberry bushes in a greenhouse and get a good harvest.

Yield

Vivaldi belongs to the high-yielding varieties. Subject to agricultural technology, one bush can bring up to 1 kg of berries. In the second and third years, the productivity of the bush increases.

Berries and their taste

The Vivaldi variety differs from its other brethren in the shape of its berries. The fruits are heart-shaped in deep red color. The berries grow large to medium in size. Moreover, the first harvest is larger, and the weight of the berries is 28-30 grams. After the fruits ripen smaller - up to 15 grams.

Vivaldi is prized by gardeners for its fleshy juicy pulp. Berries with strawberry aroma and dessert taste. During transportation, strawberries retain their shape, are not damaged, and can be stored for a long time. Easily transported to different regions.

Growing features

Vivaldi's strawberries are unpretentious in care. When planting, it should be borne in mind that the bushes are powerful, and they are planted, retreating from the previous 50 cm, as in the aisles. If reproduction by a mustache is required, then the gap between the bushes is increased.

Mulching

The Vivaldi variety is straw and mulching is a prerequisite. In the summer they mulch with grass, in the fall - with fallen leaves.

Mustache removal

The procedure is carried out carefully so as not to damage the outlet. In no case should you cut off. Cut with a knife or secateurs, leaving a stump up to 3-4 cm.

Watering

Drip irrigation is preferred. Each Vivaldi bush needs 1 liter of water. In hot and dry weather, water at least 2 times a week. Another option is to water the furrow. 30 cm recede from the row and dig a groove. Water is allowed through it, which nourishes the roots of plants.

When and how to plant strawberries so that they bring a rich harvest is a question that novice gardeners often ask themselves. The berries can be planted in the ground in spring, summer and autumn. Each season has its own characteristics of planting.
Strawberries are the most beloved and popular berry in our gardens. Even in the smallest plots, there will always be a place for it, since every year there are more and more unexpected and original solutions for its cultivation.Strawberries are grown in the form of a carpet, rows, nests, in addition to many different original options. Everyone chooses their own way depending on the area of the site and its design.
Watering strawberries, like any other garden crop, should be in compliance with all the necessary recommendations. During the fruiting period, including the ripening of the fruits, the amount of moisture should be sufficient for the harvest to be a decent amount, and the berries are tasty and aromatic. If you neglect watering, or water little and not enough, then the strawberries can dry out. With excessive moisture, the berries can rot.
Speaking of pruning strawberries, most often it is the removal of leaves on fertile bushes that is meant. This is done to partially rejuvenate the plant, to get rid of damaged, diseased leaves, to prevent bacterial and fungal infections, to reduce the number of harmful insects.

Site selection and soil preparation

The ideal option for planting Vivaldi strawberries is a sunny place, sheltered from the winds. It grows on any soil, but light fertile soil with an average acidity of 5.0-6.5 is better suited. Groundwater should pass at a distance of at least 70 cm. In the dug ground for 1 sq. m. make: 8-10 kg of humus, azofoska - 3 tbsp. l. Strongly acidified soil is neutralized by adding dolomite flour - 400-600 grams per sq. m.

The soil for strawberries should be saturated with organic matter. The plant grows best on light loamy or sandy loam soil. Black soil and gray forest soil are also excellent for cultivation. It is undesirable to plant strawberries on clay soil.

Pollination

The Vivaldi variety is self-pollinated and does not require additional action, although hardworking bees have time to contribute.

Top dressing

Top dressing is important to get a good harvest.

  • The first is held in early spring. We need nitrogen-containing feeding: bird droppings 1: 20 + mullein 1: 10 + carbamide 1 tbsp. l. 10 liters of water give an impetus for building greens.
  • Before flowering, it is watered with humate at the rate of 1 liter per root. This procedure increases the yield and improves the taste of the fruit.
  • At the end of fruiting, the following composition is introduced: urea - 10 g, superphosphate - 15 g, potassium salt - 20 g per sq. m. Another option per sq. m. m: a glass of ash is mixed with 1 tbsp. l. dry chicken manure.
  • In the autumn period, complex fertilizer is suitable.

One of the important techniques in strawberry care is feeding. Regular fertilization guarantees a rich harvest. There are several different ways to feed strawberries, and each of them is designed for a specific period of plant development. During flowering, fruiting and after it, feeding should be different.

Frost resistance and the need for shelter

The Vivaldi variety is winter-hardy and easily tolerates frosts down to -10 ° C. In regions with a more severe climate, it is necessary to cover the beds. Coniferous spruce branches, peat, straw, compost protect well from frost. In winter, an additional layer of snow is added to the garden bed.

Avoid using plastic wrap as cover. Oxygen, which is so necessary for plant roots, does not pass through it. The accumulation of moisture during thaws is detrimental to strawberry roots.

In order for strawberries to delight us with an abundance of large and sweet berries next year, they need to be properly prepared for winter. The set of measures for preparing strawberries for the cold includes: pruning, watering, feeding, loosening, pest control, mulching and shelter.

Diseases and pests

The Vivaldi variety is resistant to diseases and root rot. But still it is necessary to maintain the plant and carry out prevention:

  • timely get rid of weeds and dry leaves;
  • the neighborhood with marigolds will protect the bushes from pests;
  • an infusion of onion husks and a weak solution of potassium permanganate have a deterrent effect against pests;
  • Tobacco dust can be scattered between the rows.

At the first signs of disease on berry crops, it is immediately necessary to carry out prophylaxis by spraying, for example, with Bordeaux liquid. Fitoverm is effective against pests. "Fitosporin" protects against many diseases. Biologicals are considered safe, and berries from treated bushes can be harvested after 2 days.

Strawberries are often subject to many dangerous diseases that can seriously undermine their condition. Among the most common are powdery mildew, gray mold, brown spot, anthracnose, and verticillosis. Before buying a variety, you need to inquire about its disease resistance.

Reproduction

The Vivaldi variety reproduces with a mustache. During the fruiting period, the best specimens are chosen and marked with pegs. In the next season, peduncles are removed from these bushes and the first rosettes are taken. Planted in pots with prepared soil. Usually, with this method, seedlings root well and are able to give a rich harvest. Propagation by seeds and dividing the bush is possible, but it is much longer and more difficult.

Strawberries or garden strawberries multiply very easily. The most common way to obtain planting material is to grow young plants from vegetative shoots - whiskers. Seedlings are also obtained by dividing the bush.

Review overview

Gardeners prefer the Vivaldi variety for its simplicity in care and the excellent taste of berries. Good fruiting and keeping quality add value to this variety. Timely plant care procedures will make the strawberry root system strong and resilient. Having planted the Vivaldi variety, you can be sure of getting a bountiful harvest.
