Strawberry Kiss Nellis

There are quite a few different varieties of strawberries that can be grown in temperate climates or in greenhouses. Kiss Nellis is characterized by very large fruits and excellent taste.

The variety in question appeared relatively recently - in 2014. At the same time, there is no exact data on how it was received. Experts talk about the likelihood of using the Gigantella Maxim variety in breeding. He also identified the features that are characteristic of Kiss Nellis. Strawberries have sprawling and very dense bushes; in the second year of growth, the diameter reaches 50 cm.

Kiss Nellis is a strawberry variety characterized by large fruits and high frost resistance. Fruit weight with a good harvest reaches 170 grams. The main characteristics are as follows:

• pleasant consistency;

• sweet taste;

• sweetness;

• high productivity.

The variety is considered by many to be decorative. This is due to the interesting and beautiful shape of the berries.

The variety is characterized by an average ripening period. This parameter largely depends on compliance with the growing conditions, the availability of additional feeding and the choice of a place for planting. Seedlings can be grown both in pots and with an open root system.

The Caucasus, Stavropol Territory and the Lower Volga region are ideal for growing this crop. When grown in the central regions, it is necessary to carry out warming of the beds.

In the case of planting in the Urals and the Upper Volga region, it is necessary to take into account the need to shelter the Kiss Nellis bushes from spring frosts. In winter, these regions experience a strong decrease in temperature, which can negatively affect productivity.

The yield figure is simply impressive. From one bush, you can collect an average of 1.5 kg of juicy and tasty berries, and with proper care, these figures increase to 2.5-3 kg. To do this, fertilizing is applied several times a year, regular watering is carried out and the plants are periodically examined for diseases in order to start timely treatment.

The berries that can be obtained from growing these strawberries are large in size and conical in shape, without a neck. In some cases, they are comb-shaped.

At first, they have a dark red hue, after full ripening they acquire a rich cherry color. The seeds are small, yellow, slightly depressed into the pulp. At the first harvest, the average weight of the berries is 50-60 g, after that the figure rises to 100-110 g. Kiss Nellis ripens a little earlier than other varieties with the same large fruits.

Agricultural technology in this case is not very complicated. However, in order to obtain large fruits, it is necessary to carry out full-fledged care of the beds. It provides for the following procedures:

• watering;

• loosening and weed control;

• mustache removal;

• top dressing;

• pest control.

Each step must be carried out carefully. If the recommendations are not followed, the plant may die.

The normal development of the bushes is possible only in the soil with a sufficient amount of organic nutrients. The considered variety prefers loam interspersed with sandy components.

Disembarkation takes place at the end of April. Before directly carrying out the work, the beds are abundantly moistened, after which suitable holes are created.

Kiss Nellis is a self-pollinated variety. This is due to the fact that flowers of both sexes are formed on the same plant. They are collected in rather large bunches of up to 10 pieces.

Peduncles have a diameter of about 1 centimeter, covered with leaves. Due to the appearance of large fruits, they begin to creep along the ground.

Large fruits require a lot of nutrients. In the spring, urea and ammonium nitrate are introduced, for which the soil is loosened.

During the formation of buds, the drug "Plantafol" should be added. All leaves are sprayed with this composition.

The already developed vigorous bushes are characterized by high resistance to low temperatures. Despite this, in most of Russia, they need to be sheltered during the winter to protect them from the cold.

For shelter, pine needles, tree foliage, straw and similar materials can be used. In severe frosts, strawberries may die.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to infections and pests.But you should not ignore the recommendations regarding preventive actions:

• garlic is planted between the beds, the smell of which scares off the spider mite;

• traps are buried from the bear into the ground, which are represented by cans of sugar syrup;

• wood ash is used as protection against slugs;

• in the spring and before wintering, the surface is sprayed with a composition of 1% Bordeaux liquid.

Kiss Nellis reproduces with mustache rosettes. Their formation occurs during the period when the ambient temperature rises above +15 degrees, and the daylight hours are more than 12 hours. It is highly likely that the plant will take root only when using rosettes from plants that are no more than 3 years old.

It is not recommended to combine the process of fruiting and reproduction. That is why all peduncles come off on the selected bushes, after the formation of 3 rosettes, the garland is cut off. It is necessary to provide watering 2-3 times a week.

The variety is ideal for large harvests. Bred relatively recently, it can withstand the effects of an adverse environment, but it still requires proper care, otherwise the plant may die.
