After two years, the planting should be renewed, since the long-planted plants will give less and less fruit every year. After 4 years, the berries on the bushes disappear completely, even with proper care and the necessary dressing.

If you neglect watering, or water little and not enough, then the strawberries can dry out. With excessive moisture, the berries can rot.
Speaking of pruning strawberries, most often it is the removal of leaves on fertile bushes that is meant. This is done to partially rejuvenate the plant, to get rid of damaged, diseased leaves, to prevent bacterial and fungal infections, to reduce the number of harmful insects.

Site selection and soil preparation

Strawberry bushes are planted from April to October. If you carry out the procedure in early spring, you can get the first berries this year. When laying a strawberry plantation during the summer period, flower stalks should be shaded and cut off as much as possible. Otherwise, the mother plants will not accumulate sufficient strength for wintering and will die.

The soil for strawberries should be saturated with organic matter. The plant grows best on light loamy or sandy loam soil. Black soil and gray forest soil are also excellent for cultivation. It is undesirable to plant strawberries on clay soil.

Pollination

The Capri variety has an original scent. This allows a large number of insects such as butterflies and bees to be attracted. In windy weather, independent pollination is possible, since flowers of both sexes grow on the same bush at the same time.

One of the important techniques in strawberry care is feeding. Regular fertilization guarantees a rich harvest. There are several different ways to feed strawberries, and each of them is designed for a specific period of plant development. During flowering, fruiting and after it, feeding should be different.

In order for strawberries to delight us with an abundance of large and sweet berries next year, they need to be properly prepared for winter. The set of measures for preparing strawberries for the cold includes: pruning, watering, feeding, loosening, pest control, mulching and shelter.

Diseases and pests

The strawberry Capri variety is chosen by many gardeners for its ability to withstand diseases and pests. To increase the effectiveness of such a characteristic, it is recommended to carry out treatment with special preparations. The procedure is carried out one month before the fruiting period. Otherwise, the berries will accumulate harmful substances.

Strawberries are often subject to many dangerous diseases that can seriously undermine their condition. Among the most common are powdery mildew, gray mold, brown spot, anthracnose, and verticillosis. Before buying a variety, you need to inquire about its disease resistance.

Reproduction

There are three ways to propagate a strawberry crop. Usually used for breeding mustache varieties. But Capri strawberries tend to be produced in small quantities, which complicates the proliferation of large strawberry plantations.

Some gardeners are trying to grow bushes from seeds. The method is time consuming. It is not always possible to get seedlings due to poor seed germination.

Strawberries are sometimes propagated by dividing the bush. The procedure is carried out with a pruner or a sharp knife. When dividing a strawberry bush, several roots are left.

Strawberries or garden strawberries multiply very easily. The most common way to obtain planting material is to grow young plants from vegetative shoots - whiskers. Seedlings are also obtained by dividing the bush.
