A macrame planter can add a softer and more playful look to your setting. That is why today such a decoration can be found in many interiors. Many users are sure that such a knotted weaving is very difficult and needs to be learned for a long time. In fact, it is enough to master just a few tricks, after which you can easily build a beautiful hanging planter.

Peculiarities

Many owners prefer to decorate their homes with live plants and flowers. To contain them, they use different containers: from standard plastic or clay pots to charming hanging pots. The latter have been wildly popular for many years. The popularity of such decorations is due to their unobtrusive, but very attractive appearance.

To liven up the pots and make them more attractive, many people turn to a well-known technique called macrame. Interesting rope weaving does not negatively affect either the container itself or the plants that are in it.

In addition, such products are distinguished by other important features.

  • They perform not only a utilitarian, but also a decorative function. With the help of such details, it is possible to decorate the interior or even the local area.
  • Pots made using the macrame technique do not in any way affect the microclimate inside the pot itself. The outflow of moisture in such containers does not interfere with anything, as well as the necessary flow of air.
  • Such products can boast of a long service life and reliability.

Weaving is often complemented not only by hanging, but also by pots that will stand on the windowsill or on the table. Such decorative containers are used to accommodate a variety of plants. These pots are single or multi-tiered. Both those and other options have a number of advantages, which include:

  • the possibility of a noticeable saving of free space on the surface of the window sill;
  • thanks to such solutions, the correct vertical position of plants is ensured, as well as their access to lighting;
  • it is much more convenient and easier to care for plantings in macrame;
  • with the help of such containers, made in tandem with beautiful weaves, you can effectively decorate the existing environment.

The planter, decorated with spectacular weaving, can be placed in almost any room. This can be a living room, a bedroom, or an entrance hall.

By itself, the macrame technique involves the use of different materials suitable for the formation of a beautiful weave. It can be a simple cotton cord, twisted ropes of different thicknesses, and ribbons, and twine - there are a great many options. Some people use clothes that are cut into separate strips.

How to choose a material?

As mentioned above, a variety of materials are suitable for making such an attractive flower pot (or wicker decoration for a flower pot): from high-strength and expensive to cheap and affordable, which are in the arsenal of every person.

So, for weaving in the macrame technique, threads of different thicknesses and levels of twist are used. From thin threads like floss and threads of various compositions, not only beautiful pots are obtained, but also various little things: key rings, pendants and much more.... As for the rope of medium thickness, you can safely use it to tie the pots. In addition, such material is used when it comes to braiding bottles or cans.

Thicker threads can also be used for decorating and making pots. Similar materials can be used to create original panels, rugs, napkins or other similar details.

Planters made of dense linen or hemp rope look great... They often contain high quality artificial flowers that can be easily confused with natural ones.

Also in the popular macrame technique are used:

  • nylon cords;
  • clotheslines;
  • leg-split;
  • braid of small thickness;
  • jute;
  • sisal;
  • fibers of plant origin.

Materials should be selected based on the following requirements:

  • they must be strong and durable, but at the same time pliable in work;
  • also the materials must correspond to the style in which the composition will be sustained;
  • threads should be of the highest quality and pleasant texture;
  • the threads must be stiff and twisted within the normal range, otherwise it will simply not work to make beautiful knots (if the threads are too hard, then they must be softened by boiling them for several minutes in water);
  • the surface of the rope or threads should not slip too much (materials of synthetic origin suffer from such a "problem");
  • the threads should not fluff too much, otherwise the knots in the composition will not turn out to be sufficiently expressive.

Basic principles of weaving

It is quite possible to make a beautiful hanging planter for indoor flowers and various plants with your own hands. In order for the product to turn out beautiful, neat, even and asymmetrical, the work should be treated responsibly. It will be easier to tie an attractive composition if you work at a table and with good lighting.

  • Prepare all the materials necessary for the work. Choose the pattern you like to knit a beautiful piece.
  • Study the selected scheme as carefully as possible. It is advisable to choose such schemes, coupled with step-by-step instructions. Then the probability of making a mistake will be minimized.
  • Having carefully familiarized yourself with the selected scheme, you can proceed directly to weaving the pots. The product can have absolutely any shape and size. It must have a bottom and side bases.
  • In the process of weaving, the knots should be tied as tight as possible so that the finished pots are reliable and fairly durable, do not creep or sag under the weight of the flowers.

Only after the completion of the manufacture of the main parts of the planter does it make sense to start decorating it. Of course, you can do without decor, since products made in this technique look beautiful and original and without any decorations.

There are several types of nodes. For example, the most common and understandable is the simple Herculean knot. It is done like this: two cords are fixed, then the right one is wound under the left one. The latter is then braided into a loop.

There are many other weaving options, but they are more complex. It is better for a beginner to turn to the Herculean option.

Schemes

There are many different patterns for weaving pots and other beautiful decorations using the macrame technique.

People who have already mastered the simplest technology often make original exquisite pots. The step-by-step scheme of actions in this case is not very complicated.

  • First, you will need to dial 8 threads, and then bend them in half to make a loop. The ninth thread will need to intercept the bundle and wrap it several times. Secure everything. Cut off the rest.
  • Divide the bundle of laces into 4 groups.Each of them should contain 4 threads.
  • Start weaving. In this scheme of work, twisted chains, flat knots for the mesh are used.
  • The main mesh will be knitted from simple flat pieces.
  • When the work related to weaving is completed, the ends of the threads will need to be cut off.

To prevent them from fluffing over time, they should be carefully scorched with fire. Each of the ends of the cord will need to be supplemented with macrame tassels.

There is a very interesting weaving pattern called "spider", which should also be considered in stages.

  • First, a few square knots are made. Then one of them is tied on 3–6 threads in the second line.
  • 4-5 laces will act as the basis of the product.
  • When making the 3rd row, you will need to braid one square knot, using the same base. You will also need to add the second and seventh strands.
  • In the next (fourth) row of the scheme, 4.5, as well as 8, 1 threads are used.

There are many other schemes, both simple and complex. It is advisable to choose them based on your abilities and skills.

It is worth starting with simple schemes, and then gradually move on to more complex ones, so as not to be disappointed in creating beautiful gizmos using the macrame technique.

Useful Tips

If you decide to make a beautiful pots yourself using the macrame technique, then you should definitely take into account useful tips and recommendations from professional craftswomen.

  • During the weaving process, it is very important to ensure that all the knots are even and of the same size. Those who are just starting to get acquainted with this technique often get crooked knots. Do not be intimidated by this - this error is corrected with experience.
  • If you do not have sufficient experience and knowledge in such matters, then it is better to start making small-sized products. Their form should also be uncomplicated.
  • During weaving, you need to ensure that the same interval is always kept between the knots. Otherwise, the planter will look sloppy.
  • After completing weaving, it is better to burn the ends of the ropes over low heat. This is done so that these parts do not wrinkle or crumble. If there is no desire to carry out such procedures, it is permissible to simply tie these elements into a small but beautiful knot, and then carefully cut them off.

For the manufacture of pots, you must choose the right materials. For example, products that are planned to be kept outdoors are recommended to be made of more wear-resistant synthetic laces and ropes, which are not afraid of negative external factors, moisture and dampness.

  • If the house contains a large number of different plants and flowers, then it makes sense to build a beautiful multi-tiered bookcase. It will turn out to neatly arrange different plantings. Strong enough rope knots will be able to align each of the levels and fix its position.
  • For the manufacture of such products, it is necessary to choose the strong and reliable threads as much as possible, because a serious load will be applied to them.
  • It will be much more convenient to hang the finished pots not by the wicker loop, but by the metal carabiner. In this case, the risk of thread chafing will be significantly reduced.
  • Due attention should be paid to the thickness of the threads from which you plan to make a quality item. It is important to take into account the weight of the pot for indoor plants: the heavier the container, the thicker the threads should be.
  • If you plan to knit a beautiful pots for a clay pot, then to measure things, it is advisable to take an analogue from plastic of the same volume, otherwise you can accidentally break the clay dishes.

  • The cache-pot should harmoniously fit into the existing interior. To do this, it is important to choose threads of suitable shades that resonate with the rest of the scales in the setting.The materials must also fit the pot perfectly.
