Cauliflower Abeni

The early ripe cauliflower hybrid Abeni managed to win the hearts of amateur vegetable growers in many countries of the world. It is distinguished by excellent balance of taste, high growth rate, and versatility of use. The hybrid is successfully cultivated in Russia, in regions with mild winters, as well as in the harsh conditions of the Urals and Siberia.

Abeni is obtained as a result of the work of Dutch breeders. Registered in the Russian State Register in 2012, the originator was Monsanto Holland B. V.

The hybrid is intended for outdoor cultivation, in a one-year cycle. Seed collection is not performed. The root system is strong and well developed. Plants are strong, with high self-covering ability, powerful. They do not need a garter during the ripening of the crop.

Bushes with strong stems. Leaves of medium length, elliptical, slightly bubbly, dark green with a slight waxy bloom. The socket is positioned vertically. The heads of the inflorescences are elliptical, whitish, tuberous, partially covered with leaves. The average weight reaches 2.2 kg.

The inflorescences are used fresh and in home cooking, suitable for freezing. The taste is excellent, the texture is delicate.

An early hybrid, ripens in 63-75 days from the moment of disembarkation.

An average of about 4.7 kg of crop is harvested from 1 m2.

Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out 30 days before the intended transplantation into the ground, from late March to mid-April. In the conditions of the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, Astrakhan Region, it is possible to use a different method. Seeds are sown directly into the soil, right into the holes. When choosing a place, you can give preference to beds of nightshade crops, legumes.

When caring for cauliflower at the ripening stage, it is recommended to pay attention to the shading of the inflorescences during their formation. This allows you to keep them snow-white, prevent the head from scattering. Watering throughout the growth of the hybrid is regulated based on the abundance of atmospheric precipitation. Irrigation stops completely only at the ripening stage, from the middle of summer.

Top dressing is also desirable on schedule. A week after planting in the ground, the bushes are watered with a solution of cow dung or chicken droppings. After another 14 days, liquid mineral complexes are introduced. At the stage of head formation, superphosphate will be useful to the bushes.

Abeni cauliflower grows best in fertile, slightly acidic soils. Peat and deciduous soils, well-fertilized garden soil, loose sandstone are suitable.

The hybrid is not cold-resistant, it needs a stable temperature regime.It is not recommended to plant it too early in open ground.

The overall immune resistance of the hybrid is assessed as high. With proper care, plants are not affected by diseases. During the period of insect activity, you should carefully monitor the appearance of caterpillars, regularly collect them, as well as preventive treatment with insecticides.

Abeni belongs to the new hybrids for Russia, which managed to gain popularity among summer residents. Vegetable growers note that the harvest ripens amicably, without delays, the plants practically do not get sick, they grow well even with a short daylight hours. The taste and appearance of the inflorescences also receive the highest marks. Cauliflower heads are strong, classic round shape, neat. Delicious mashed potatoes and other side dishes are successfully prepared from them, individual segments are fried in breadcrumbs.

Other advantages of this hybrid, mentioned in the reviews, include good transportability of the crop, as well as early ripening, which allows planting a crop in regions with short summers. Seed shoots appear quickly and at the same time, do not outgrow with sufficient lighting.

Abeni cauliflower has very few downsides. Plants need planting without shading, good and abundant watering. If these conditions are not met, you may encounter root decay or a slowdown in the development of bushes. At unstable atmospheric temperatures, it is better to plant under a film cover, otherwise tender seedlings will die.
