Zucchini Aeronaut

One of the gardeners' favorite zucchini variety, Aeronaut, has been grown for many years on farms and private farmsteads. It is distinguished by its early maturity, high vitamin content, and is suitable for most types of processing. The variety grows well in the open field, does not require shelter in the cold, withstands transportation and fresh storage for several months.

The aeronaut was received in 1983 by the breeders of the Donetsk experimental station "IOB UAAN". First, the variety entered the trials. It was included in the state register only in 1987.

The aeronaut belongs to the zucchini group in terms of the size and shape of the fruit. It is adapted for growing outdoors, under plastic covers or in permanent greenhouses. Suitable for industrial cultivation on farms, in agricultural complexes. The variety is self-pollinated, bears fruit even in the absence of insects, forms ovaries in all weather and climatic conditions. The height of an adult bush does not exceed 1 m.

Fruiting in this variety is carried out in bunches. They form inside the bush. The fruits are drawn to the sun, droop only under the weight of their own mass in the stage of biological maturity.

The plant is a bush type, compact in size, with a small number of lashes. The central shoot is short. Feminine flowering with yellow petals. The leaves on the shoots are large, slightly pubescent, located above the sharp growths.

The fruits of this type of zucchini are cylindrical, weighing up to 1.3 kg, they are considered marketable when they reach a length of 14-15 cm. The skin is thin, fragile, green on the cut, darker outside, without a mesh cover. There is a pattern of small dots on the surface. They are contrasting, light green, noticeable. The flesh is whitish-yellow, thick.

The seeds inside the fruit are loose. Located in the center, they have an open structure.

The variety is used in home cooking, suitable for canning. Fresh used in the preparation of side dishes, salads. The taste is good, the flesh of the squash is crispy and juicy, tender, with a low sugar content.

The variety is early maturing. After emergence, ripens in 46 days. Fruiting is abundant, long-lasting.

The aeronaut allows you to remove up to 7 kg of fruits from 1 m2 of the area. According to this indicator, it belongs to the high-yielding.

The variety is suitable for planting in climatic zones from the Urals to the Far East. It is planted outdoors in the central and southern regions.

Zucchini Aeronaut is grown in sunny open areas. Sowing in the ground is carried out from May 25 to June 10. The standard planting scheme is 70x70 cm squares. Plants are transferred to the greenhouse only after the ground inside warms up to a temperature of + 10-13 degrees.

Plants are sensitive to good care. They need regular watering, organic fertilization. It is best to saturate the soil with fermented manure or compost before planting. Moistening is required before flowering, at the stage of primary formation of fruits, as well as as they ripen. The soil is regularly weeded and loosened so that a hard crust does not appear on its surface.

The soil in the vegetable garden should be neutral, fertile and loose. Loamy well-fertilized soils, as well as structural chernozem, are suitable. The variety tolerates moderate salinity at the roots well.

The Aeronaut variety is well adapted to the conditions of the temperate climatic zone. He is not afraid of extreme heat. But it does not tolerate frost well. In the northern regions, it is possible to grow only in a shelter, with preliminary forcing of seedlings.

Susceptibility to powdery mildew in this variety is above average. Due to the peculiarities of fruiting, plants are well protected from slug attacks. These pests simply do not get to the zucchini along the rough stems.

Overripe fruits are used only for livestock feed, their taste is noticeably reduced, the skin withers, dulls. Also, the variety is prone to over-pollination, including with pumpkins, this moment must be taken into account when planting and choosing a place.
