Apple-tree Memory Michurin is a late winter variety. Fruits are universal, suitable for various types of processing: from them you can get dried fruits, prepare juices, jam. As for the fresh consumption period, it is quite long: from the end of October to the end of May. This variety attracts many gardeners.

Breeding history of the variety

The Pamyat Michurin variety was bred at the turn of the 20-30s of the XX century at the V.I. Michurin. At the same time, a specific task was set before the scientists: it was necessary to ensure that the fruits of the variety were stored for a rather long time. And it was carried out in the process of free pollination of the apple cultivar Champaren-Kitaika.

Description of the variety

The tree of the Pamyat Michurin variety is medium-sized. The spreading crown is rounded in shape, not too thickened. The bark of the branches of the skeleton and trunk is dark brown. There are a large number of shoots: they are straight, brown, pubescent, their size is medium. The leaves are not very large, their shape is obovate, with a slight sharpening, along the edges there are small-cuneiform notches. The petioles are pubescent below of medium length. The bloom looks pretty beautiful: the flowers are large, white and pink.

Features, pros and cons

Pamyat Michurin is a variety with numerous advantages. Let's list them:

  • long consumer period;
  • good resistance, sometimes even immunity to scab, fruits and leaves are not affected by it even in rainy years;
  • apples have excellent taste;
  • early maturity of culture;
  • moderate growth, respectively, small tree height;
  • a very long period of fresh fruit consumption (6-7 months).

There are also disadvantages:

  • the crown of the apple tree is too wide, with hanging branches;
  • average winter hardiness.

Ripening and fruiting

Apple-tree Memory Michurin begins to bear the first fruits 5-6 years after planting in the ground. In terms of ripening, the culture belongs to the late winter.

Harvesting maturity reaches late September. The consumer period lasts from October to May. The variety is distinguished by the frequency of fruiting.

Growing regions

The Pamyati Michurin variety has proven itself very well in the gardens of the Lower Volga region, as it is distinguished by its drought resistance. In addition to the Lower Volga region, the Central Black Earth Region is suitable for growing crops.

If the Pamyat Michurin apple tree is grafted into the crown, the variety can be cultivated even in the Moscow region. As for the Ural region, it is rather difficult to grow a tree here due to its low frost resistance. However, there are such enthusiastic summer residents who plant the culture on a dwarf stock, and then insulate it for the winter. And then the Pamyat Michurin apple tree can bear fruit well even in the harsh Ural conditions.

Yield

As for the yield, the Pamyat Michurina variety belongs to apple trees with an average yield, namely: from each tree you can remove from 50 to 80 kg per season.

Fruits and their taste

Apples of the Pamyat Michurin variety have a universal purpose. The culture belongs to the late winter. Medium-sized fruits develop on the tree, the size of an apple reaches 140 grams. The shape is onion or onion-conical, uneven, with wide ribs. The skin has a greenish-yellow or golden base color, on which a bright red integument stands out.It is blurry, has stripes and strokes. The skin is quite dense, has a slight bloom of wax. The fruit tastes sweet and sour, has a pleasant aroma. The apple has a white or creamy pulp, tender, juicy, medium-dense. The composition contains many useful substances, such as sugars, titratable acids, ascorbic acid, the volume of which is 5 mg per 100 g of product.

To obtain a bountiful harvest of fragrant apples, the garden must be periodically renewed by planting seedlings of productive and new varieties. The choice of an apple seedling must be approached with all responsibility, because low-quality planting material at best will not take root, and at worst it will die in the prime of years after numerous investments in its health and normal formation.

Growing features

Planting an apple tree of the Pamyat Michurin variety is not difficult. It is only important to choose the right soil. The culture will feel good on black earth, floodplain, loamy soil. At the same time, it is important to take into account the presence of groundwater: they should be located no closer than two meters from the earth's surface.

The area that will be chosen for the apple tree should be well lit by the sun's rays. At the same time, protection from strong winds and drafts is necessary.

Planting apple trees is a very important, troublesome and responsible business. Its survival and full-fledged fruiting depends on the correct procedure. Before planting, you need to choose the right planting material, determine the location and prepare the soil.
A successful grafting helps to solve a whole range of problems, first of all: to get the varieties of interest and save space on the site. The vaccination technique itself is not so difficult and even a novice summer resident can master it. Vaccinations can be done during the entire growing season.
Along with top dressing and pruning necessary for apple trees, watering is also a significant contribution to the correct development of the culture, and therefore to a high yield. Improper watering, carried out inopportunely, without enough water, can bring great trouble to the fruit tree.
An important point in caring for an apple tree in the open field is feeding and fertilizing. Top dressing of apple trees begins in early spring and ends in late autumn. Lack of nutrition leads not only to a decrease in the quality and quantity of the crop, but also reduces the immunity of the tree, making it more vulnerable to pests and diseases. And with the autumn procedure, the tree will be able to lay more fruit buds, which will have a positive effect on the future harvest.
Despite the fact that apple trees are considered quite unpretentious plants, they still need proper autumn care. Timely preparation of trees for winter makes them more resistant to winter frosts, as well as increase future yields.

The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages. But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.

Fruiting of aging trees, as well as the quality of the harvest, decreases. Therefore, if the tree is aging and there is a need to replace it, you need to think about how to propagate the apple tree so as not to lose the variety. For reproduction of an apple tree, several methods are used: by seeds, layering, eyes and cloning (budding).
