The Kuibyshevskoe apple tree is considered a good choice for experienced gardeners. The partially self-pollinated variety requires attention, but yields good fruit that can be easily transported. Universal use, apples are suitable for canning and subsequent processing.

Breeding history of the variety

The apple tree was obtained by S.P.Kedrin by hybridization. In the breeding work, Antonovka Saffronnaya and Pepin Londonsky were used. The resulting hybrid was registered in the State Register of the Middle Volga Region.

Description of the variety

The tree is vigorous, without formation, it grows up to 7 m in height, with an average crown density, usually of a wide pyramidal shape. The branches are thickened, the shoots are strong, runny, have a brown bark tone. Leaves are regular oval, slightly tapering towards the end of the plate, medium in size, slightly curved in the central part.

Features, pros and cons

Kuibyshevskoe is distinguished by good keeping quality of fruits: they are stored for up to 5 months. Planting a number of other apple trees with the same flowering time helps to achieve abundant fruiting. The advantages of the variety include:

  • easy adaptation to a new place;
  • high shoot-forming ability;
  • harmonious combination of taste and aroma properties of fruits;
  • drought tolerance;
  • protection of roots and buds from recurrent spring frosts.

The disadvantages include the difficulty in obtaining bountiful harvests outside the areas for which the variety is adapted. In addition, the cultivar's resistance to major diseases is low; it requires increased safety measures during cultivation.

Ripening and fruiting

The fruits reach maturity in the second decade of September. Fruiting begins at 5-6 years. Kuibyshevskoe is one of the last varieties of late autumn. In mature trees, periodic fruiting may be observed.

Growing regions

The apple tree is zoned for cultivation in the Volgo-Vyatka, Ural and Volga regions of the Russian Federation. Suitable for cultivation in the Moscow region. It successfully takes root in the southern regions.

Yield

Average collection rates are 76 c / ha. The variety is considered fruitful. Depending on the age of the tree, the amount of harvested fruits can vary in the range of 37-145 c / ha.

Fruits and their taste

Kuibyshevskoe is a variety of apple trees that give flat-round fruits weighing 140–180 g. The skin is deep green, up to 1/3 of the surface can be brownish-red. The pulp has a creamy shade, dense fine-grained structure. The skin is dense, with a weak whitish bloom, smooth, there are poorly expressed subcutaneous points. The taste is characteristic, sweet, with a noticeable sourness.

To obtain a bountiful harvest of fragrant apples, the garden must be periodically renewed by planting seedlings of productive and new varieties.The choice of an apple seedling must be approached with all responsibility, because low-quality planting material at best will not take root, and at worst it will die in the prime of years after numerous investments in its health and normal formation.

Growing features

There is experience in the successful cultivation of the variety on semi-dwarf rootstocks. This method is used in areas with a close occurrence of groundwater to the surface. But even in its own-rooted culture, Kuibyshevskoe demonstrates active growth. Two-year-olds are already producing branches extending from the trunk at an angle of 60–80 °.

A young plant is planted in the autumn, in October, but no later than a month before the start of frost. It is also possible to carry out this procedure in early spring, until the buds swell and the sap begins to flow. When choosing a location, preference is given to sunny, well-protected areas from the wind. With a close occurrence of groundwater, high soil moisture, drainage of the planting pit is mandatory. The distance between trees in the garden is kept in the range of 5 m or more.

Preparation for landing should be preliminary. A hole is dug up to 1 m in diameter at a depth of about 0.8 m. The selected soil is mixed with 2 buckets of organic matter (peat or humus), 300 g of wood ash is added. Also, 50 g of potassium chloride and 250 g of superphosphate are added to the fertile mixture. You should not add lime, but you can dilute the clay soil with a bucket of sand.

When planting, the hole is filled with 2/3 of the prepared soil mixture. Then a stake is driven in for a garter. The seedling is placed in the center of the hole, the roots must be carefully straightened, leaving the neck 5–6 cm above the edges of the hole. After that, the rest of the soil is laid, and 20 liters of water are plentifully watered. The surface of the planting circle is covered with a layer of sawdust or peat.

Young trees definitely need watering. They are guided by the weather, but moisture must be applied at least 2–5 times a month. The garter made for a young tree is gradually loosened.

The variety is tall and therefore requires pruning. In the 1st year, in the absence of lateral branches, the central shoot is shortened to 60–90 cm. Biennial trees are formed, removing 1/3 of the entire crown length. At 5–7 years, the main pruning is performed. It is considered formative, in the future, the height of the tree is maintained at a level of no more than 5 m - this is more convenient for harvesting.

Planting apple trees is a very important, troublesome and responsible business. Its survival and full-fledged fruiting depends on the correct procedure. Before planting, you need to choose the right planting material, determine the location and prepare the soil.
A successful grafting helps to solve a whole range of problems, first of all: to get the varieties of interest and save space on the site. The vaccination technique itself is not so difficult and even a novice summer resident can master it. Vaccinations can be done during the entire growing season.
Along with top dressing and pruning necessary for apple trees, watering is also a significant contribution to the correct development of the culture, and therefore to a high yield. Improper watering, carried out inopportunely, without enough water, can bring big trouble to the fruit tree.
An important point in caring for an apple tree in the open field is feeding and fertilizing. Top dressing of apple trees begins in early spring and ends in late autumn. Lack of nutrition leads not only to a decrease in the quality and quantity of the crop, but also reduces the immunity of the tree, making it more vulnerable to pests and diseases. And with the autumn procedure, the tree will be able to lay more fruit buds, which will have a positive effect on the future harvest.
Despite the fact that apple trees are considered quite unpretentious plants, they still need proper autumn care.Timely preparation of trees for winter makes them more resistant to winter frosts, as well as increase future yields.

Diseases and pests

The cultivar shows a below average resistance to scab damage. Often affected by fruit rot.

The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages. But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.

Fruiting of aging trees, as well as the quality of the harvest, decreases. Therefore, if the tree is aging and there is a need to replace it, you need to think about how to propagate the apple tree so as not to lose the variety. For reproduction of an apple tree, several methods are used: by seeds, layering, eyes and cloning (budding).

Review overview

According to the owners, Kuibyshevskoe demonstrates excellent productivity, it successfully tolerates even severe frosts. It is noted that the first fruits appear on the branches of the apple tree already for 5 years. Summer residents especially note the excellent taste of the fruit, as well as their juiciness. When processing, it is possible to get not only jam or jam. The juices work out great too.

Gardeners recommend storing the harvested fruits in wooden boxes, protecting them from unnecessarily high temperatures. In this case, the harvest can be preserved until February.

Negative reviews are mainly associated with a violation of agricultural practices recommended for this variety. With a careless attitude, the summer resident will only have to dream about bountiful harvests. Gardeners mention that the varieties Kutuzovets and Zhigulevskoye are considered good pollinating neighbors for Kuibyshevsky. In this case, there will be practically no barren flowers on the apple trees.
