There are many winter-hardy apple varieties bred specifically for the northern regions of the country. The Bashkir beauty is one of the best varieties that not only easily takes root on the site, but also gives an excellent harvest in both good and unfavorable years.

Description of the variety

The variety has a different name - Bashkir handsome. It is considered to be of medium height, the tree is capable of reaching 5-6 meters in height without any maintenance. Branches branch off from the trunk at an acute angle. The crown of young trees is round in shape, but when fruiting begins, the branches drop, become spreading, which makes the crown more rarefied.

The annual growth is small - 10-15 centimeters per year. Young plants grow shoots faster. In the presence of top dressing and good climatic conditions, the growth rate improves.

The flowers of apple trees are whitish-pink, large and bowl-shaped. They are extremely fragrant and collected in small inflorescences.

Features, pros and cons

The Bashkir beauty copes with unfavorable climatic conditions with dignity and is able to grow and give a large harvest even in the coldest regions. The following characteristics are considered the main advantages of this variety:

  • extremely high resistance to severe frost;
  • picky about the soil;
  • high consumer qualities of apples;
  • good fruit preservation and excellent transportability;
  • satisfactory resistance to various kinds of diseases.

Like any others, this variety also has disadvantages:

  • the minimum period of early maturity is 3 years, but in order to collect a huge and full-fledged crop, you should wait for fruiting for 4-6 years;
  • if the weather is too dry, fruits can fall off the trees.

Ripening and fruiting

The dates are rolling and depend on the region in which the tree grows. The first fruits can be seen already in the third year, after which the yield becomes higher and increases every year.

Fruit picking can be done at the end of summer, but it is recommended to do this on September 1-10. If the climates are cold, it is best to harvest the fruit in late August.

Growing regions

The variety became widespread in the following republics and regions: Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Mari El, Vologda, Kirov, Orenburg, Moscow and Samara.

Yield

On average, 60-70 kg of fruit can be harvested from one apple tree. Productivity depends on the age of the tree, as well as on the conditions under which it grows.

Fruits and their taste

They have a universal purpose. They are small, one fruit weighs from 90 to 140 grams. Shirokokonicheskie, have the correct shape. The color is green with pink, the skin is shiny, smooth and dense, rather coarse and oily, there is a light waxy coating. On the fruits, you can see small, barely distinguishable subcutaneous points in small numbers.

The pulp is juicy, medium density, fine-grained and white. The taste of the fruit is sweet and sour, pleasant, the sourness is small and barely noticeable. The aroma is medium and unobtrusive, practically not felt.

Fruit shedding is average. They can be stored for about 200 days.

To obtain a bountiful harvest of fragrant apples, the garden must be periodically renewed by planting seedlings of productive and new varieties. The choice of an apple seedling must be approached with all responsibility, because low-quality planting material at best will not take root, and at worst it will die in the prime of years after numerous investments in its health and normal formation.

Growing features

Whether the tree will take root, whether it will give a good harvest and high-quality fruits, depends on the correct planting and care. In order for the result to be decent, you need to know about some of the features of growing the variety.

  • The Bashkir beauty is unpretentious and is able to take root on any soil, so there is no need to select anything specific. It grows well in loam, in sandy loam soil and black soil, as well as in other soils. But it is worth knowing if the soil is depleted, you need to often fertilize the plant so that its fruits do not become small.
  • Apple trees of this variety do not like drafts, so it is better to plant them in places protected from blowing. You can also use protective screens, which can serve as walls of buildings, large trees, hedges.
  • The proximity to groundwater and wetlands also does not suit the Bashkir beauty, therefore it is not recommended to plant it in the vicinity of water bodies. If there are no other places, it is necessary to use high-quality drainage to protect the rhizome.
  • The landing distance should be 5-6 meters.
Planting apple trees is a very important, troublesome and responsible business. Its survival and full-fledged fruiting depends on the correct procedure. Before planting, you need to choose the right planting material, determine the location and prepare the soil.
A successful grafting helps to solve a whole range of problems, first of all: to get the varieties of interest and save space on the site. The vaccination technique itself is not so difficult and even a novice summer resident can master it. Vaccinations can be done during the entire growing season.
Along with top dressing and pruning necessary for apple trees, watering is also a significant contribution to the correct development of the culture, and therefore to a high yield. Improper watering, carried out inopportunely, without enough water, can bring big trouble to the fruit tree.

Pollination

Apple trees are not self-fertile, so pollinating varieties must be planted next to them. The best options are as follows:

  • Seedling Titovka;
  • Buzovyazovskoe;
  • Antonovka.

Top dressing

In order for the yield to be high, both mineral and organic fertilizers should be applied. In the spring, it is necessary to use fertilizing containing nitrogen, which will promote the growth of deciduous mass and accelerate the formation of ovaries. When flowering begins, phosphorus and potassium are introduced into the soil, which will increase the number of ovaries and improve the taste of the fruit.

Poultry manure, wood ash, compost, weed infusions and manure are used as organic fertilizers. Before watering, the soil is sprinkled with ash, and manure or bird droppings are applied 2-3 times per season.

An important point in caring for an apple tree in the open field is feeding and fertilizing. Top dressing of apple trees begins in early spring and ends in late autumn. Lack of nutrition leads not only to a decrease in the quality and quantity of the crop, but also reduces the immunity of the tree, making it more vulnerable to pests and diseases. And with the autumn procedure, the tree will be able to lay more fruit buds, which will have a positive effect on the future harvest.

Frost resistance

The apple tree has high resistance to low temperatures, easily tolerates any cold. The variety is not afraid of both spring thaws and return frosts. It also easily tolerates summer cold snaps and strong, prolonged winter frosts down to -30 degrees.

Despite the fact that apple trees are considered quite unpretentious plants, they still need proper autumn care. Timely preparation of trees for winter makes them more resistant to winter frosts, as well as increase future yields.

Diseases and pests

The variety does not have persistent immunity to various diseases and pests and is moderately resistant to them only with proper care. It is necessary to carry out timely spring preventive measures in order to protect the plant.

May be affected by the following diseases and insects:

  • scab;
  • blackleg;
  • powdery mildew;
  • apple moth;
  • leaf roll.

The apple tree is a popular fruit crop among gardeners. It can be found in many summer cottages. But at the same time, such trees are often affected by various diseases. It is very important to recognize the disease in time and carry out the necessary procedures for a speedy recovery. Otherwise, the fruits will be spoiled, and the tree itself may die altogether.

Fruiting of aging trees, as well as the quality of the harvest, decreases. Therefore, if the tree is aging and there is a need to replace it, you need to think about how to propagate the apple tree so as not to lose the variety. For reproduction of an apple tree, several methods are used: by seeds, layering, eyes and cloning (budding).
