The combination of luxury and casualness is one of the most fashionable interior design tricks these days. Most openly, it is embodied in the loft style. In this direction, you can arrange both the entire apartment, and only one room. Today we will talk about loft-style kitchens and their main elements - dining tables.

Peculiarities

At the beginning of the last century, there was an economic crisis in the United States, during which poverty and unemployment flourished. Workshops and factories fell into decay, and the huge vacant premises of these buildings were sold for almost pennies to ordinary people. Of course, such premises were furnished with primitive furniture, trying to create coziness, but all the same, the purpose of the buildings "climbed out of all the cracks." This is the absence of partitions, and giant windows without curtains, and an abundance of concrete and stone.

Perhaps, over time, the loft would have been successfully forgotten if some had not discerned a special charm in it. Many people liked the rooms, and they began to decorate them in an urban style, believing that the large size of the rooms, the streams of light from the unfinished windows, high ceilings give a feeling of freedom.

Very quickly, this style of interior took root, and it was noticed in European countries. Now it was no longer necessary to buy warehouse premises, so people began to equip their homes, making redevelopment.

The style itself has several main features:

  • space;
  • the use of natural materials;
  • an abundance of light;
  • simple lines;
  • urban and industrial motives.

The loft is complex in execution, it has a lot to take into account. Furniture of this style cannot stand out from the general concept. If we talk about dining tables, then their main features should be noted.

  • Reliability. Such tables are most often sturdy, stable and practical designs that have served their owners for decades.
  • Minimal decor. There is decor in the loft style, but these are all kinds of accessories, posters. The table should be free of frills.
  • Variety of shapes. There is no single standard here, so you can choose a model in the form of a square, a rectangle, or a product of an unusual and unique design.

In addition, it should be said that the loft itself has several ramifications, so the furniture can look different.

  • An industrial or Industrial loft is a wooden heavy structure, roughly processed. Colors should be neutral.
  • The boho loft appeared a little later, and there is a lot of freedom of choice. Tables can have decorative elements such as carved legs or a pattern on the surface.
  • In a glamorous loft, the trend is gradually moving away from using exclusively wood and metal. Here, preference is given to lighter and more refined materials: glass, epoxy and others.

Types and materials

First of all, loft dining tables are divided by type of design. These are folding and stationary models. The former are suitable for small kitchens, where every centimeter is valuable. They are laid out only at the time of meals. Stationary tables always stay in one place.

Loft style dining models can be made in several forms:

  • rectangle - the most popular and classic shape, appropriate in all kitchens;
  • oval - large tables, it is best to select them for spacious rooms;
  • a circle is a beautiful and elegant design, but it also does not fit small kitchens;
  • square - products with this shape will be appropriate everywhere, it is best to place them near the window;
  • any other forms, for which there is only enough imagination, are made strictly to order.

And there are also different folding mechanisms:

  • sliding table;
  • swing-out;
  • table-book;
  • transformer.

Now let's list the materials from which loft-style dining models are made.

  • Wood. Wood is a strong and beautiful material that meets the concept of style. Often the tree is artificially aged. It is recommended to use expensive species such as maple or oak.
  • Metal. Metal structures are very reliable; these are products that can serve for a long time. However, such tables do not have to look heavy - there are many lightweight options.
  • Glass. As a rule, glass is an additional element - there are no solid tables made of this material in the loft style. Combine it with wood or metal.
  • Epoxy resin. This is a rather rare variant of the material, but it can also be found. Frozen elements look very beautiful in epoxy: blades of grass, foliage, shells.

Design

If we talk about the design of tables, then one should note such a moment as the number of legs. Tables with one leg are very convenient - as a rule, these are round models. They look beautiful in the interior, unload it, but they can accommodate no more than 4 people. Products with two legs look no less easy, you can fit behind them on both sides. There are also options with 3 legs, crossed ones look especially interesting.

Can accommodate several people depending on size. The most common design is 4 legs. These are rectangular or square designs suitable for grand parties and dinners.

And you can also highlight several interesting design ideas that will definitely appeal to all adherents of the described style.

  • River table. It is a wooden elongated structure with an artificial "river" made of epoxy resin. The model looks amazing, because you can include anything in the epoxy resin: tiny bubbles, algae, small plastic fish.
  • Bar models. Sturdy, rough-cut timber is a great option for a loft. It perfectly conveys the atmosphere of factories and plants.
  • Products with legs made of iron or pipes. Iron legs fully correspond to the concept of style, they look strict and heavy. Models made of pipes immediately evoke associations with production. In addition, such tables are easy to make with your own hands.
  • Slab or stone tables. A slab is a solid piece of wood, tables made from it convey the texture of wood, every scratch and stain is visible on them. Stone models look monumental, but the loft style rarely strives for lightness. Such products are very expensive.

How to choose?

Choosing a loft-style dining table usually involves several rules. First of all, it is important to consider the size of the room. If the kitchen is small, look for folding tables or small square models. In large rooms, it is advisable to install a rectangular massive table. True, everything is individual here, since you also have to take into account the number of household members. If a young couple lives in an apartment, then there is no need for a massive table even in a large kitchen.

It is important that the table is safe and does not cling to it every time you move. If there are kids in the house, it is better to stay on a round or oval shape so that there are no sharp corners. For the same reason, it is recommended to select an easy-care material.

One should also not forget about the chairs: they should not create dissonance with the table.

Separately, it should be said about the palette of products. In general, the loft style is not too picky about the color scheme, but some of the main colors can still be distinguished.

  • All wood tones. If the table is wooden, it doesn't matter what color it will be: dark or light. The main thing is that the product fits into the rest of the interior.
  • Gray. It is this shade that is most often remembered when it comes to factories.It is the color of industry, city, concrete, asphalt. It is perfect for a loft.
  • Black. A dark color is always beautiful and attractive. Tables in similar colors are often found in the direction of the loft, but one should not forget that such an environment should be diluted with bright accessories.

Selection of models in other color variations, including saturated ones, is possible. But it carries with it certain difficulties and in most cases requires the help of experienced designers.

Beautiful examples

And now it is worth considering a few photos of the interior of the loft-style premises with a dining table.

  • Long rectangular version with unusual purple legs in a studio apartment.
  • Combined solution made of wood and glass.
  • Tall model with iron legs. Chairs of different design options add unusualness here.
  • A very light, elegant loft-style table with almost weightless chairs.
  • The white color of the table perfectly complements the woody tones of the kitchen.
