Knowing the features of the HC20 corrugated board and the instructions for its installation on the roof is necessary not only for professionals, but also for ordinary customers. Having precisely understood the size of the profiled sheet and its other characteristics, many errors and problems can be excluded. It is worth considering that this is always a galvanized material - and this circumstance also imposes a number of requirements on handling it, determines many of the nuances of use.

Applications

Profiled sheeting НС20 is almost ideally suited for roofs on:

  • private house;
  • apartment building;
  • shed;
  • country house;
  • auxiliary building of various kinds.

It should be noted right away that roofing work is not the only possible application of such products. Often NS20 is taken to build fences. It is also suitable for the decoration of buildings on the site or at the production site.

A separate important area of application is wall cladding. Engineers also note that the bearing capacity of the NS-20 is quite acceptable for the preparation of partitions in the premises; consumers can choose colored and colorless modifications of such a profiled sheet.

Specifications

Typical dimensions of galvanized profiled sheets have been clearly selected by manufacturers for a long time. The length varies from 50 to 1500 cm. The total width is 115 cm, but of which only 110 cm is in the working area. The sheet thickness ranges from 0.035 to 0.07 mm. These parameters were not chosen by chance - they turned out to be the most practical, judging by the experience of long-term use.

It is customary to produce a profiled sheet on the basis of steel coils obtained by the cold rolling method. Additionally, a hot zinc layer is applied to it. After cooling, the material can be painted with various dyes, but according to the standard, they must strictly correspond to one or another position of the RAL scale. It should be noted that the height of the profiles is also typical in most cases and amounts to 2 cm. The presence of particularly long (up to 12 m) sheets from a number of manufacturers greatly simplifies the selection and preparation for work.

Operating tips

Most often, the installation of a corrugated roof is carried out on a board sheathing. But in some cases, steel girders can also be used for it. The amount of horizontal overlap is selected in accordance with the slope of the roof. In difficult cases, the overlap is sealed using silicone-based or thiokol-based sealants. The eaves overhang is selected taking into account the height of the profiles.

The standard instruction prescribes to fasten the sheets together and attach them to the crate only using self-tapping screws with an external zinc layer. These self-tapping screws are equipped with a sealing washer obtained on the basis of neoprene rubber. The skates are fixed through the upper corrugations. The length of the self-tapping screw is taken such that it matches the profile of the metal sheet. When arranging the roof, we must not forget that it must be isolated from steam and water.

Correct work allows you to exclude:

  • the occurrence of condensation;
  • the formation of mold nests;
  • accumulation of moisture on the battens and rafters;
  • freezing of the roof and underlying structures;
  • violation of the interior decoration of the premises.

And the "correct" installation itself implies the organization of ventilation gaps and the use of a vapor-permeable waterproofing film. If the slope is pressed against the wall longitudinally, the corner strip is fixed with galvanized self-tapping screws. The distance between them is 0.2-0.3 m. The planks should be placed with an overlap of 0.1-0.15 m.

The crate must be treated with an antiseptic and fire retardant. If a steel profile is used instead, it should have a wall thickness of up to 2 mm, since the thicker metal is not used for self-tapping screws.

It is possible to fix the corrugated board only with high-class self-tapping screws. If the washers are dry and cracked, water leaks and rapid corrosion are likely.

Work from the bottom edge to the top; installation in the reverse order is a violation of technology.

Important rules:

  • the first sheet must be fixed immediately, adjusted for the desired overhang, temporarily pressing with one self-tapping screw;
  • the second sheet is tried on both the first and the overhang;
  • finishing fastening is carried out only after the final alignment along the roof overhang;
  • the overlap of all rows should be exactly the same.
