The Volma drywall is manufactured by the Volgograd company of the same name. The material is designed for rooms with an average level of humidity. Its main feature is its versatility, thanks to which drywall is used for partitions, leveling and wall decoration, as well as creating suspended ceiling structures.

Peculiarities

The base substance of GKL "Volma" is natural gypsum, which is first crushed and then fired at a temperature of 180-200 degrees. On both sides, the sheets of material are covered with several protective layers of cardboard. They have thinned edges, which make it possible to form inconspicuous seams. The edges of the ends are made in the form of a rectangle. They have a flawlessly smooth and even surface.

To improve the quality of the coating and its hardening, auxiliary components are included in some types of material:

  • cellulose;
  • fiberglass;
  • starch;
  • special impregnations against fungus and repelling moisture, dirt.

Advantages

High-quality drywall "Volma" has the following positive characteristics:

  • is fireproof;
  • can be subject to destruction only after six hours of constant heating;
  • GKL sheets have a dense monolithic structure due to the gypsum core;
  • the relative lightness of the slabs is noted - this significantly facilitates the work of builders;
  • optimal vapor permeability allows you to stack sheets on different bases;
  • hydrophobic additives reduce the level of fluid absorption by up to 5%;
  • the material is considered safe and environmentally friendly, which is confirmed by a quality certificate and positive reviews from specialists and ordinary users.

The scope of this product is quite large due to its plasticity and low weight, therefore it is used as a basis for wallpaper, ceramic tiles, decorative types of plaster.

Installation work involves fixing drywall to wood frames and metal profiles using self-tapping screws. In addition, gypsum plasterboard sheets using a different technology can be fixed on special gypsum glue.

Varieties

The main types of products are standard gypsum board sheets, moisture resistant, fire resistant, materials that combine fire resistance and moisture resistance.

Moisture resistant

This material is a rectangular plate consisting of two layers of cardboard with a gypsum filling, reinforcing additives and water repellents from getting wet. Standard sheet parameters - 2500x1200x9.5 mm. Their weight is up to 7 kg. Plates with parameters 2500x1200x12.5mm weigh about 35 kg, however, it is possible to order material of other lengths (from 2700 to 3500 mm).

Sheets with a thickness of 9.5 mm, as a rule, are used for decorating ceilings in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the bathroom. A prerequisite is the presence of a ventilation system. It is also possible to use it for curved planes - GKL "Volma" are quite flexible and plastic, but you should know that they can be bent only along their length. Self-tapping screws are great for fasteners, as they do not crack the product.

When assembling a structure on a frame, it is necessary to take into account some of the subtleties of installation:

  • it is not recommended to carry out work if the room temperature is below 10 degrees;
  • it is possible to mount drywall only upon completion of the arrangement of plumbing equipment and water supply, after the surfaces are completely dry;
  • GKL should be cut using an ordinary construction knife;
  • fixation with self-tapping screws is carried out without exceeding a distance of 250 mm. In this case, the screw should go into the metal parts of the frame by 10 mm, and for the subsequent putty it should be sunk in drywall by at least 1 mm.

Moisture resistant drywall is a dense and relatively inexpensive material that has a good margin of safety, which is critical for the consumer.

The disadvantages of Volma products include the absence of markings, as well as the waviness of the sheet surfaces.

Fire resistant

This type of drywall is suitable for interior finishing work with walls and ceilings in conditions of increased fire safety requirements. The thickness of the panels is 12.5 mm with a length of 2500 mm and a width of 1200 mm. Such sheets are distinguished by increased characteristics of strength and reliability, and the composition of two gypsum layers includes flame retardant additives (fiberglass).

Special impregnation can prevent fire, therefore, the cardboard layer is subject to charring, while the gypsum remains intact.

The advantages of the material are:

  • lack of toxic substances in the composition;
  • relatively small mass;
  • soundproofing properties of panels.

Fire-resistant boards "Volma" are gray or pink with red markings. Installation is practically no different from the assembly of ordinary drywall, but at the same time the material is easily cut and drilled, does not crumble during operation.

The panels can serve as the basis for further wall and ceiling cladding:

  • plaster;
  • different types of paints;
  • paper wallpaper;
  • porcelain stoneware and ceramic tiles.

Fireproof

Fireproof material from the manufacturer "Volma" has increased resistance to open fire. These panels are suitable for wall cladding and ceiling structures. They have standard dimensions - 2500x1200x12.5mm. These are coatings that are ideal for living rooms, as they have the necessary technical characteristics for home use.

This type of product is intended for rooms with dry and moderately humid conditions. It is low-flammable (G1), low-toxic, has no more than B2 flammability.

The structure of the panels is similar to other Volma products - a two-layer gypsum center with special refractory components, glued over from the bottom and top with a multi-layer cardboard with a thinned edge. In accordance with GOST 6266-97, sheets have tolerances of up to 5 mm in basic parameters.

New items

At the moment, the manufacturing enterprise has developed new materials TU 5742-004-78667917-2005, providing for:

  • high parameters of product strength;
  • its level of water absorption;
  • vapor permeability;
  • special surface density.

Due to these characteristics, fireproof drywall can be used as widely as possible in construction and repair work.

For this reason, the material "Volma" is on a par with foreign counterparts and is one of the most popular in the main categories. When using it, it is important to remember that the panels are installed under the operating conditions of heating systems (in cold weather), after the arrangement of the plumbing, electrical system, as well as before the construction of finished floors (at a temperature of at least +10 degrees). This is the only way to ensure a high-quality assembly of gypsum plasterboards.
