Plasterboard wall and ceiling cladding is a popular finishing and leveling method. In order for the structures to serve for a long time, not to collapse and not become covered with cracks, it is worth choosing only high-quality consumables. The German company Knauf is engaged in the production of construction and finishing products, where metal profiles are presented.

They are made of steel by cold rolling on special equipment.

Benefits of Knauf products

The company pays special attention to quality, uses metal with a thickness of 0.6 mm, so that the element has sufficient rigidity. Compliance with the requirements for this parameter guarantees the strength of fastening the gypsum board to the frame, since the screws are firmly held in the metal. All steel is galvanized to prevent corrosion and increase service life.

Also, the distinctive features of the Knauf drywall profile are:

  • stiffening rib;
  • holes for fasteners, wires and other communications;
  • marking for ease of installation;
  • special geometry that facilitates the connection of elements.

    Depending on the structure of the frame, its thickness and power, the manufacturer's catalog contains several types of profiles with different sizes. In order to build a wall or other structure, you will definitely need guides and rack views. The guides are attached to a solid base: walls, floor or ceiling of the room being repaired. Rack with the help of grips are attached to the created frame with self-tapping screws with a press washer or other fasteners. For the construction of a suspended ceiling, Knauf produces certain types of products. These elements have a different shape from the wall for greater strength.

    Profile types

    Modern room designs include not only multi-level ceilings of various shapes, but also walls with built-in shelves, wardrobes, and recesses of unusual shapes. The creation of drywall structures with niches for LED strips is very popular. If straight lines are easy to create, then smooth, rounded, wavy lines are already more difficult. For this, arch profiles and sinus profiles are presented in the catalogs of the company. With their help, you can easily translate into reality most of the ideas with various outlines.

    • Guides. They are marked with PN and U-shaped. With their help, they set the direction of the future frame. It is attached around the perimeter of the structure or used to create jumpers between the posts. In the future, a rack-mount profile of the appropriate size is fixed in it. Wall widths are standard 50, 75 and 100 mm, height - 40 mm. Profile length - 3 meters. The dimensions are selected in such a way that it is convenient to tighten the fasteners using any tool. The wide wall is reinforced with two longitudinal corrugations. To facilitate fastening to the supporting base, holes with a diameter of 8 mm are made in the product at the factory for dowels. If there are not enough of them, the thickness of the steel allows you to make additional holes with a screwdriver or drill.

      The Knauf company produces separate ceiling track profiles. They are used to create a false ceiling and are attached to the perimeter of the walls.

      Profiles are produced in three sizes: 50x40 mm, 65x40 mm, 27x28 mm. A rack-mount ceiling profile of a suitable standard size goes to it as a connected product.

      • Rack. Marking - PS. They are usually installed to create vertical structure posts, attached to the guide profile. The plasterboard sheet is subsequently attached to it.Profile width - 50 (PS-2), 65 (PS-3), 75 (PS-4), 100 (PS-6) mm, wall height - 50 mm. Length - 3 m. The profile is C-shaped. The dimensions are selected so that when two types of profiles are connected, no gaps and crevices are formed, they fit tightly to each other. Rigidity corrugations are located on a wide wall, there are three of them: in the center and two 10 mm to the edge from it. The central corrugation is used as a guide when attaching the sheathing, which makes work easier.

      Especially for utility lines, there are holes with a diameter of 33 mm at the end of the profile.

        For the repair and creation of plasterboard structures in large rooms, a rack profile is produced with a section of 50x50, 75x50, 100x50 mm, 4 m long. Interior partitions, cabinets, wall cladding and more are made of it.

        UA-profile - a kind of rack-mount profile, reinforced in comparison with the standard version. The manufacturer recommends this type for creating a doorway. In combination with the mounting brackets, it can support a door weight of up to 100 kg. Wall width - 50.75 and 100 mm, height - 40 and 50 mm. The width of the wall corresponds to the approximate weight of the door leaf, for example, a 50x50 profile will withstand a maximum weight of up to 50 kg inclusive. Length - 3000 and 4000 mm.

        The MW profile is a rack profile that contributes to an increase in sound insulation when creating partitions and cladding from gypsum board. It is manufactured in such a way that its geometry increases the sound insulation capacity of the entire structure. There is a special longitudinal groove in the center of the profile, which can be used as a guide when assembling the frame.

        • Ceiling. Marking - PP. It is used to create a frame for suspended ceilings and wall cladding. It is produced in one size - 60x27 mm, has a length of 3 meters. It has high rigidity due to corrugations on all walls, three on each side. The profile wall is wide enough, which is very convenient when working with drywall on ceiling structures.
        • Arched. Marking - PA. This type of profile is designed to create multi-level ceilings with wavy lines, as well as the assembly of curved structures: arches, domes, etc. The Knauf company produces already curved profiles, they are distinguished depending on the bending radius: 500 or 1000 mm. Length - 3 and 6 meters.
        • Beacon (PM). Its width is 22 mm and height is 6 mm. Designed for leveling walls with plaster mortars. Installed on the wall in an upright position with a quick-drying mortar applied to the wall. The beacon is lowered into it with a little effort. Next, you need to apply the required amount of plaster to the wall and, applying a spatula or a rule to the profile, remove excess mortar. Aligning the walls in this way prevents the mortar from spreading and allows it to be distributed evenly over the entire surface without sagging and waves. Knauf beacon profiles are made of galvanized metal, so they are also used in wet rooms. The special perforation ensures reliable adhesion to various finishing materials. The height of the element allows you to even out wall differences up to 5 mm. Subject to all the rules of work, after the finishing layer has completely dried, the beacons remain hidden inside, without affecting the appearance of the wall.
        • Corner (PU). It is used to protect corners from any mechanical impact during operation. There are two types of corner profiles: corner protection and plaster. The first is installed after facing the walls of the gypsum board at the outer corners. The size of the element is 31x31 mm, it is made in the form of an acute angle of 85 degrees. The corners are pre-treated with putty. Having applied the profile to the corner, the compound penetrates into the perforation in the form of circles with a diameter of 5 mm. The plaster profile is made of thinner steel and, as a rule, is used to protect corners in openings, ends of partitions, walls, arches. The section of the product is 35x35 mm and the length is 3 meters. The profile consists of a mesh with diamond-shaped cells and a dense corner in the center.
        • The profile is sine. The element is made with a special flexible edge made of thin steel with a thickness of only 0.6 mm. Suitable for building curved walls. Used as a guiding element on curved sections of the wall. The cross-section U-shape increases rigidity. Length - 1900 mm. Shelf width - 50.75, 100 mm, height - 40 mm.

        Creating a solid frame for the future structure requires not only the correct choice of base elements, but also high-quality related products. Knauf's catalogs contain all the necessary elements: connectors, hangers, extension cords for profiles, fasteners, construction tapes, waterproofing and other products.
