Raspberry Nugget

The raspberry variety Nugget has become more and more popular in recent years, despite its relative novelty in breeding. Excellent yield, good taste, rich aroma make this variety popular with domestic gardeners.

Raspberry Nugget belongs to the early remontant varieties, it perfectly tolerates a dry climate, frosts, has excellent immunity. The external characteristics are as follows:

• bushes of medium height - up to one and a half meters, but sometimes the stems grow up to 2 meters;

• the leaves are large, the color is juicy green;

• branches stretch up to 30 cm, each forming up to 20 fruits;

• the shoots grow in small numbers, so there is no danger that nearby plants will be drowned out.

Among the advantages of the variety, the following are worth highlighting:

• only individual trunks need to be tied up;

• the yield is very high;

• large fruits;

• high quality dessert, rich taste;

• fruiting twice a season;

• berries are good fresh and processed;

• excellent winter hardiness;

• does not require special care;

• insensitive to drought, shade;

• immunity is high.

There are also disadvantages:

• the thorns are sharp and located throughout the shoot, which makes harvesting difficult;

• it is often possible to separate the fruit from the stem only with an effort;

• medium transportability.

The mid-ripening variety begins to bear fruit in the middle of summer. The period lasts until the onset of the first frost.

The Nugget variety is classified as fruitful, the number of fruits from one bush is 3 kg. Due to poor agricultural practices and special climatic conditions, the numbers may decrease.

A nugget is a large-fruited variety, the weight of one berry can reach 13 g, but on average it is 8-12 g. The shape is conical, the taste is rich, pronounced, sweet with sourness. Drupes are of a small type, the hitch is very strong, while the bones are imperceptible when used.

One of the most serious advantages is the lack of capriciousness in the care of the variety. But do not ignore the basic requirements of agricultural technology.

• Moisturizing. The roots of this variety are drought tolerant, but when the berries form, it needs to be moistened quite abundantly. The variety loves spraying, but it should be done in the morning and evening. With a critical decrease in air humidity, the variety needs daily watering.

• Pruning. This procedure is carried out regularly, for example, in the fall. The stems are cut completely, this protects the shrub from many pest and disease problems. In the fall, you can cut off only those shoots that have already borne fruit. Those stems that are not cut in the spring are carefully analyzed. All damaged shoots are removed.

• Fertilizer. Top dressing is needed on a regular basis, for the first time this procedure is carried out at the age of three.Apart from what is introduced when planting seedlings. In spring, nitrogen compounds are relevant - mullein, urea. In the summer, it is worth feeding with potassium, in the fall with phosphorus. Regardless of the type of feeding, it is important to water thoroughly at the root at the same time in order to minimize the risk of burns.

• Preparing for winter. First of all, the Nugget must be mulched with peat, straw or humus. If the frost is more than -30 degrees, or the winter is not very snowy, you need to bend the stems to the ground and cover with agrofibre, a layer of snow.

A well-lit place is suitable for this variety, an elevation is optimal. Since the variety is prone to root rotting, flooding should not be allowed, respectively, lowlands are excluded. Areas with high groundwater are also unsuitable. The planting algorithm is as follows:

• in the autumn or spring, you can plan to plant a raspberry Nugget;

• the optimal landing method is trench, the holes are not too suitable;

• the depth of the trench is about 40 cm, in width you need to dig up to 45 cm;

• the bottom is covered with a mixture of peat, humus, manure and ash;

• it is important to add superphosphates and potassium salt;

• then sprinkle this layer with soil, and arrange seedlings;

• the root collar is placed at ground level, it can be deepened a little, provided the soil is light.

The growth is not very active, but in sufficient quantity.A planting material is created from it. The separated processes are planted in the autumn, so that they have time to adapt, and are covered. Planting is carried out by trenching with fertilizers. Then you need to sprinkle with soil and leave for 30 days, and only after that a full planting is carried out.

You can propagate the variety by cutting the roots, this procedure is carried out in the spring in this way:

• dripping raspberries from either side;

• the rhizome is removed at least 20 cm with two live points about 8-9 cm thick;

• the root is placed in a container that can be brought into the room;

• in the fall, the seedling is planted at a permanent destination.
