Raspberry Pohvalinka, re-bearing during the season, is considered one of the most promising varieties of private selection. Plants allow you to harvest crops in an industrial way, using combines. In private gardening, the variety surprises with the size of the berries, ease of care and general unpretentiousness.

Breeding history of the variety

The multipurpose variety was bred by breeders Vladimir and Ilya Shiblev in the Shkolny Sad kennel. In 2019, he was sent to state tests, successfully passed them and was registered. The praise was bred in the climate of Nizhny Novgorod, but zoned for most regions of Russia.

Description of the variety

Pokhvalinka is characterized by the formation of a powerful, medium-spreading bush with a height of 130-150 cm. It turns out to be not too large, with erect shoots. The leaves covering them are large, slightly pubescent, bright green in color. Shoots have thorns at the bottom.

The praise is distinguished by the abundant formation of side branches. The plot is quickly overgrown. Shoots have a drooping shape. Annuals are brown, with a light waxy coating, glabrous.

Ripening terms

The variety begins to bear fruit in July, belongs to the mid-season species. Remontant.

Growing regions

Raspberry Pokhvalinka is successfully grown in central Russia, in the south. There is an experience of its successful cultivation in Siberia and the Urals.

Yield

Abundant fruiting. With a high yield, Pohvalinka gives up to 15-20 t / ha or 6-10 kg of berries per bush.

Berries and their taste

Praise is appreciated for the beautiful large berries of an elongated conical shape. The color of the fruit is dark red, the pulp is juicy and dense. There is a pronounced raspberry aroma. The mass of berries reaches 7-20 g with a length of up to 5 cm. Raspberries have a dessert taste and are highly valued when eaten fresh.

The berries tolerate transportation and storage well, and are suitable for commercial cultivation with subsequent sale. After freezing, they do not become limp, retain their shape and taste.

How to choose a raspberry seedling
Due to its unpretentiousness, raspberries live in almost every garden plot. But in order to get tasty berries, you must first plant a healthy and strong seedling. In nurseries, shops and private sellers, you can find a huge assortment of seedlings, but how to determine their quality and be sure of the abundance of fruiting already upon purchase?

Growing features

The variety is insensitive to drought, frost, and tolerates weather changes well. When planting in bushes, it is recommended to leave from 0.7 to 1 m between the plants. With the tape method of placing the row spacing, about 1.5-2 m are made. In this case, 40-50 cm are left between the bushes. Growing is recommended on a support.

Most gardeners cultivate the cultivar as an annual. The shoots of the past year are cut at the end of the season. This allows you to concentrate the yield on 1 period without stretching it. Such cultivation is optimal in cold regions, where the second part of the fruit simply does not have time to ripen before frost.

Site selection and soil preparation

When choosing a landing site, it is important to give preference to sunny areas, protected from drafts, without shading. The best soil is black earth or loamy soil. A lightweight composition with good breathability is required.Acidity is better to choose neutral or weak, from 5.8 to 6.3 pH. When choosing a site, it is important to avoid lowlands, areas with nearby groundwater, hills and slopes.

Under the raspberry, you can take the beds previously occupied by legumes or cereals. You can not plant Praise after tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants and peppers, as well as in the vicinity of these plants. Rooted bushes are planned to move into the ground in early spring or autumn, before frost.

When preparing a hole or trench, it is important not to forget about fertilizing. A bush will need 5 kg of rotted manure, 50 g of potash fertilizers and superphosphate. This is enough to get the first harvest when planting in spring in summer.

A plentiful and high-quality harvest in the future depends on the correct technology of planting a raspberry bush. It is necessary to choose the right planting material, determine the location and prepare the site.
Raspberry garter is a difficult and painstaking task. This requires time and imagination. But on the other hand, the benefits from this process are enormous. Thanks to the garter, the fruits ripen more intensively and regularly. Bushes are much less deformed, branches do not break off. After the garter, the berries are better preserved, and the greatest achievement at the same time is the convenience of harvesting.

Pruning

To preserve the remontant properties of the variety, it is recommended to cut off the shoots for 2 years after the end of the first wave of fruiting. In this case, the remaining branches will receive maximum power. After the 2nd wave of fruiting, they are not cut off, leaving them for laying the next year's harvest. When grown in an annual crop, the rules change. In the autumn, the entire aboveground part is cut out from the bushes under the root, in cold regions this procedure is postponed until the spring.

The raspberry pruning process is an essential and essential part of caring for your garden and the key to harvesting large, juicy berries. Without pruning, raspberry shoots lose their strength and cease to bear fruit. It is very easy to avoid thickening of the raspberry tree: you only need pruning - in the spring, summer and autumn months.

Watering and feeding

The variety is sensitive to soil moisture. To obtain juicy berries, watering must be done regularly, by drip, installing pipes in several rows. Do not add moisture by sprinkling to avoid leaf burns or the development of fungal diseases. Root watering is allowed. At least 10 liters of water should be applied under the bush once a week.

Despite the fact that fertilizers for Pokhvalinka are necessarily laid even during planting, it needs subsequent fertilizing starting from 2-3 years of cultivation. In early spring, you should give preference to nitrogen fertilizing, in the fall - to phosphorus-potassium. In summer, during flowering and fruit formation, the necessary nutrition will be provided by root watering with a mullein solution in a ratio of 1 to 10.

One of the conditions for proper care of raspberries is proper watering. The rules for watering raspberries are the same for all varieties and varieties of this garden plant. Moistening should be carried out if the soil has dried out by 5 cm or more.
One of the most important conditions for growing large and sweet raspberries is timely fertilization. For each stage of development of the raspberry bush, different feeding is required. Fertilizers that are used at the beginning of the growing season of the plant are not suitable during flowering and ripening of berries.
Preparing raspberries for winter is another of the stages of berry care. If you start preparing raspberries for wintering in time, then next year you will get a rich harvest of delicious and sweet berries.Winter preparation activities include pruning, feeding, pest control, watering and shelter.

Diseases and pests

Praise refers to raspberry varieties that are highly resistant to diseases and pests. There is evidence that the shoots are practically not affected by rust or anthracnose. Nevertheless, the bushes must be thinned out, avoiding thickening. Pruning completely in the fall will prevent parasites that threaten the normal development of the raspberry tree.

Unfortunately, raspberries, like other plants, do not bypass various diseases and pests. Only armed with the knowledge and the necessary means for this, you can cope with such troubles. To help the plant, it is very important to be able to recognize the disease in time and begin timely treatment.

Reproduction

The praise is distinguished by abundant shoot substitution. The shrub is propagated by increasing the number of shoots by dissecting the roots with a shovel. The formed young seedlings in the spring are separated from the mother bush. They will give their first harvest in the summer of the same year.

And also practice propagation by cuttings, with cutting of material in spring or autumn. They are added dropwise for the winter, then placed under a film with the onset of warm days. The signal for transplanting into open ground will be the appearance of 3 leaves on the handle.

There are many ways to breed raspberries. Raspberries can be diluted with root cuttings, woody cuttings and root cuttings. Regardless of the method of berry propagation, a number of requirements must be observed to ensure the receipt of high-quality planting material.

Review overview

Raspberry Pokhvalinka was appreciated by many amateur gardeners. The variety is often compared with Samokhval of the same selection for similar characteristics. It is noted that the sizes of berries significantly exceed those declared during tests in the State Register. From 2 years old, the raspberry tree gives stable yields, bears fruit abundantly. Gardeners are also not disappointed with the taste, but questions arise about the adaptation of the variety in the very arid southern regions.
